i recently went to sicily with gate 1. it was an enjoyable trip. i have done 7 gate 1 trips and would not rate this at the top but loved sicily. our guide fabio was ok but certainly not in the top guides we have had on gate 1 trips. the hotels were ok but also not in the the top picks. just did thailand in jan and the hotels were all fabulous- as were the turkey trip. also, internet should be negotiated when getting these hotels especially for americans. sicily is a beautiful country with so much to see. the places gate 1 took us were wonderful and interesting.

I can’t say enough about our recent Classic Sicily trip with Gate 1 travel. Our guide Michela was fantastic!! She was warm, informative and made sure that everyone was accommodated at all times. Our driver Salvatore was the best!! And our local guides along the way: Giorgio in Palermo & Cefalu, “Il Professore” in Agrigento, Lara at Mt Etna, Giacomo in Taormina and Diana at the Roman Villa and in Syracusa – were all top notch!! Each one was so informative, friendly and passionate about what they were showing us and telling us. We couldn’t asked for better city guides! Gate 1 really picks the best!
The hotels we stayed at were all great – and we had a beautiful room in each and every one.
When I think back at all the places we saw… I can’t believe just how much we covered in such a short amount of time!
As usual, Gate 1 Travel showed us an unforgettable time! I look forward to our next adventure with Gate 1!!

I recently travel to Sicily with Gate 1 travel. Gate 1 provided us with a Tour Guide who was Outstanding in every respect. He was so knowledgeable regarding this area. We called him the professor as he spoke of these temples as if he was there when they were built. The Guide talked about everything from plants and trees to architecture to different cultures to landscape. He answered all of the questions that our group asked him. He was well prepared and even brought diagrams to pictorially describe how these temples were built. He moved at a good pace for a small group and allowed time for photos and questions. The professor was easy to understand and spoke English.

We arranged our tour with Michele Gallo (note bring Euros as credit cards are not accepted) and had Rino Sabella for our guide. Rino was amazing both with his knowledge of the site and the relationships with other sites and how these sites fit into context historically. Sicily has such an interesting history and the 3 hours we had with Rino was time very well spent.

Fantastic visit. Yes it was hot, but a gentle stroll and the odd sit under shady trees. One of our group did it with her walking frame, so no one could complain about heat or distance! Every way you looked you saw wonderful temples and great scenery. The skill of the builders and sculptures is amazing. how on earth did they do it back then. Double ticket for her and the museum. My wife lost her museum ticket. Not sure whether to feel pleased or cross that they let her in to the museum as a 65 year old without seeing her passport, when I was expecting to have to pay twice (She's not that old, honest)
I think in reality this is a half day visit, unless you are making notes for next year's lectures.
