I found this hotel to be very cold and unwelcoming. It is fine - location is OK, and the pool area is nice - but it seemed the staff was cold, the check-in experience made me feel unwanted. The room was adequate, but nothing special.

The worst though is the breakfast buffet area. It is in a cellar - and I would compare it to the dining room of a government funded nursing home.

Just down the hill are a couple of small trattorias that offer very nice dinners.

Great looking hotel, and our room was ok on first looking. However we couldn't open the wardrobe door without rearranging the furniture, and there was a pile of dust and debris under the bed. Television never worked. Safe didn't work, and took 3 days for someone to come and fix it.

Bathroom also looked fine at first - but bath was a really strange shape which meant you bashed your elbows every time you used it, and although it had a shower attachment there was no shower curtain so the floor got soaked. Worst of all, we were locked out of the bathroom as the sliding doors got stuck - and we had one hour to get ready for son's wedding (with all our stuff inside!!). Bit of a panic and took 20 minutes to sort out.

We were half board (thankfully), but the breakfasts were very poor. Buffet style, no heaters under food, cheap thin sliced bread, dangerous old toaster, awful coffee machine, and powdered orange juice machine. Reception staff could definately not be regarded as friendly (with one exception). Our friends visited the hotel spa which they enjoyed. Location though is fantastic, and the Temples are within an easy walk. Few good restaurants nearby though better to take taxi into town for more choice. Extremely good markets nearby.

A large hotel, providing mainly for tour groups. Reception unfriendly. We got a room on the first floor next to the traffic lights and asked for another. The lady basicially told us to shut up: it was a very nice room and there would be no traffic at night. Besides there were no other rooms available. We did not dare to tell her later that the jacuzzi in the bathroom was not working. And what were those long black hairs doing in the bathroom? The corners of the same room had not seen cleaning for a while too. The stickers of the new hotel name came off the writing pad and the bar code stickers on the clothes racks were never removed. Breakfast was ok. Hotel pool is open from 9.00 to 18.00. In short: an overrated hotel with an unpleasant staff, but functional for seeing the ruins.

Hi, we stayed here. We had a nice time, the rooms are clean and the hotel facilities are very nice. The food at the restaurant was good and the breakfast was decent, the pool area was also nice. However a few things:

First of all, several reviewers wrote that its an easy walk to the Valley of the Temples. Perhaps if you are driving. However, we actually walked and it's at least a 30 minute walk downhill, and then you have to climb back up the hill (in the heat, as we did). We're young and in good shape. The woman at the front desk told us it was a 15 minute walk. I would definetly recommend having a car if you plan on staying here.

Second of all, we woke up feeling very hot. I went downstairs to tell the hotel staff that we were warm in our room. They then informed us that the hotel turns the air conditioning off from 9am to 1pm. I can live without air conditioning, however, considering that Agrigento is on the southern coast of Sicily and can get quite hot...this made the room quite warm.

The hotel is about a mile from the central bus station on the route out to the valley of the temples and is well situated for exploring them and the archaeological museum nearby. The hotel itself was very clean and had a nice breakfast room and a restaurant which we did not try. However the star of the show was the pool area which was very attractive and well maintained. The only slight drawback was the 20 minute uphill walk into town for night-time entertainment, which some people could find difficult. Local taxis charged 15 euros for this trip!!

I have read the reviews after staying there for a weekend, and was surprised to find so many negative opinions.
The hotel is locally considered one of the best places to stay. We had a nice room, large enough, very clean. Wooden floors, sober furniture, all looked relatively new. The bathroom was spotless and we had bathrobes and large towels (a rarity in hotels). The lobby was a bit older but comfortable, wireless free in the rooms (where else in Italy?) and they have a computer in the lobby for guests. The garden was very nice and well kept, I have not used the Spa but heard raves about it.
It is located at walking distance from the center, on a busy street that takes you directly to the temples, but it is not noisy in the inside.
The personnel was friendly and it has a sober but nice breakfast - we have not used the local restaurant otherwise but I admit I generally avoid hotel restaurants, barely any has a decent reputation.
Agrigento is not a touristy place, although they have the temples, nice beaches and a town whose life is reviving after many years of abandonment; it is worth a couple of days of stay. Traffic is heavy but not dangerous, it is full of french and german tourists that are not too fussy about comforts but enjoy the atmosphere and amazing archeological variety offered by the place.

Stayed two nights too long. Hotel is clean but that's about it. Rooms are very small, bathrooms extremely small. We ate at the hotel and the food is awful. A country with food as their signature and they can't put an edible meal together. Such a disappointment. The grounds are very nice but don't make up for all that is missing. D from Boston
