“Take a local guide! ”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

We visited this museum with a local guide . I can't tell you how much I learned from him. We would have never understood the stories and background of all the pieces without his expertise as he walked us around to each glass case!

“Don't miss the Museum!”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Fascinating collection of objects both large and small from different periods with good written explanations on each cabinet so very easy to follow if not that well clued up beforehand! My favourites were probably all the many different moulds for making the smaller pots, statues etc and the beautiful inscribed scenes on the vases depicting the fabulous myths and legends of ancient Greece. The giant replica statue in the basement and collection of 'heads' also fascinating especially after having visited the temple itself.

“Worth visiting”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

I am not into museums and galleries as much as most but with a package deal (when purchasing tickets at the entrance of the temples ask for the museum as well and it is cheaper than buying each ticket separately) it was worth visiting the museum.

“An archaeologist's heaven”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

The exhibits are well presented (though sometimes the lighting is not quite right). Comprehensive descriptions in English and Italian. Highlights are the Greek amphorae (these are as good as they get). and some 'giant' statues from the temple of Hercules, which gives you a feel for the scale of the temple. Plan for a couple of hours at least, if you are interested in this sort of thing.

“No floor plan”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Many lovely things, Greek vases, a child's sarcophagus etc. but no help in finding the best things amongst the multitude of objects. If one had a whole day or preferably three, this would not matter. As it is, it is too easy to get lost or miss the 'stars' of the museum.
