“A Disappointing Experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2012

We stayed at this hotel for three nights as part of a two centre holiday with Riviera. The room overlooked the sea and was very comfortable but the flat screen television did not work and the water in the shower was at best tepid. The swimming pool is attractive but on this occasion had several areas of green weed growing in the water. The poolside bar was not open during this last week of October though the weather was good. The food in the dining room was adequate but certainly not up to the standard expected in a four star hotel. We were intrigued to see how many different ways aubergines could be presented as a starter every night. The hotel is isolated so it was not feasible to go out to another restaurant. We are suprised that Riviera accept the standards here especially as there are several similar reviews which we read on our return. Travel with them in the past has been a better experience
If there was a plus side, the staff were very charming and the tour guide Rosario was exceptional

Room Tip: Chosse a room with a sea view and balcony

The hotel is a good standard, grounds are good and well kept. The food was very poor. It was very much frozen or tinned food, with no taste at all. For example: why server tinned fruit, when you have a country with so much fresh fruit! If the hotel had not been so far out, then we would have eaten out. Could not even walk anywhere, the only road access was a main road where you could not walk. Definately would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room, as many look at a wall!!

Our lovely trip to Sicily was marred by the poor facilities offered to us at the Hotel Kaos in Agrigento. Upon arrival there was no assistance with our luggage, no hot water (for the whole of our stay). We had no TV service as promised and no sockets to charge our 'phones or cameras. There were large gaps in the laminate flooring and a broken, missing mouldy tile trim in the shower. The shower head was broken and the water pressure very low indeed. The air-con was far too noisy to be used at night and the bedside lamp had a faulty switch that flickered on and off. The swimming pool was dirty and full of insects and green slime. Due to electricity failures we could not get a second coffee with our breakfast and the fridge in our room defrosted. Our evening meal was unsatisfactory and we were left no information about the surrounding area whatsoever. Staff were friendly but unable to help with any problems. Management were invisible. Shame as the building and it's gardens were pretty.

Like many others we stayed here as the first part of a 2 centre holiday. We rejected the first room we were offered immediately, tired and threadbare with a view of a wall. The second room,on the first floor was better and accepted-but we later noticed the fire escape door outside the room led straight out into the garden with a 15 foot drop onto steps.Very dangerous.
The food was well below 4* standard, and on one occasion appaling, especially the meagre quantity.
The only reason I can think of to recommend this hotel is its proximity to the excellent "Valley of the Temples",- but plan to eat out.

How do they cater for so many, all wanting meals at the same time? The staff work really hard. The Hotel was just fine as the main point was to visit Sicily. This Hotel is set in fine surroundings and a pool that is Hollywood!

Room Tip: It is a big hotel so difficult to give a tip that is meaningful

Went with Riviera Travel for a 2 centre holiday. This was the first hotel we stayed in .You ask for a quiet room , ours was 403, so you get air con.so noisy you have to switch it off- OK for October but for really hot months would be impossible to sleep. Hotel generator opposite your room and you have a view - of the distant cement works. Fabulous pool set in gardens - pool not heated . Husband loved it . Staff worked very hard and are helpful. Kitchen has got to sort out catering for the masses. When you have so many tour groups using the hotel so that the Valley of the Temples ( a must see) can be visited they have to have kitchen staff who can produce edible food. The pork was grim - thin ,grey and I swear steamed then griddled-hideous. Chips soggy. But the veal and chips next day great.New chef ? Riviera Travel put some pressure behind the management to fix the food not worthy of your clients.

Room Tip: Room 403 overlooks the not so distant cement works and the hotel generator is opposite your room.

We used the hotel as it was one of the hotels that Riveira TRavel use for the Sicilian holidays. The Hotel was clean and the Bedroom was very good and comfortable but the Shower let it down, only about 700mm square. However this was not the case in all rooms as others had walk in 'wet rooms' which they said were very good. The food was OK and the service also especially in the Bar where we experienced excellent service. All staff very obliging.
Our room did not face the sea but was fine for a holiday, and on hoilday who spends much time in the room?

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a 'wet room' or a shower over the bath.
