“Wouldn't go again through choice”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

We stayed in this hotel because it was part of a Riviera Travel trip to Sicily. Would not book it again if it was our choice. The hotel is isolated and it is difficult to go anywhere else except with your own transport. Nearest town is Agrigento, fascinating place.
The restaurant staff were very welcoming, friendly and polite. Less can be said about the front desk.
The rooms were spacious, our room had a lovely large balcony but only 2 small chairs and no table, the view was the building opposite. It would seem very few of the modern part of the hotel, if any, have a decent view of any description. If you have any difficulty with stairs then ask for help at the desk with your bags as there is no lift to the second floor of the modern part of the hotel. There is no Wi-Fi in the hotel unless you are prepared to pay for it, 2 days cost 5 euros and you can only have one item connected! Why they charge I have no idea - as I said to the desk staff - if someone came to my house and asked to use my Wi-Fi and I said yes but you'll have to pay me - I'd soon lose friends! No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, fortunately after reading previous reviews we took our own!
The food was Ok considering they were catering for large numbers - breakfast, fresh omelettes were the order of the day, however no matter what you order, e.g. mushroom, cheese, ham, vegetable be prepared to be surprised as you may not get what you ordered! Be prepared to smile :)
Swimming pool and view from the pool was lovely, it is down a very long flight of stairs which is ok going down but not a little hard on the knees going back up.
Very close to the Valley of the Temples and Archaeological Museum - amazing places and well worth the trip alone, both of which we WILL revisit!

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor if in the new building. The balconies are larger and less stairs to climb

We booked this hotel based on reviews & wow what a bad experience. The hotel looks nice from the start but when you look closer it's pretty bad. The lady who checked us in Francesca told us the food in the hotel was great. She does not tell you the truth. The food in this hotel is by far the worst I have had in my life. We also asked her for a nice table with a view. She said they only had a garden view but that sounded nice so we said ok. Our table was right next to the bathrooms. The window at our table had so much bird poop on it became the main focus. Dinner was horrible , the buffet had many choices all of which had no taste. This was worse than hospital food. Breakfast was more of a joke. No fresh anything. The coffee machine spit out some dark chemical that tasted like cleaning fluid. Same with the juice machine. To get to this hotel you drive through miles of orange, lemon & other fruit tress, but this place had no fresh fruit. This lady told us she was originally from New York so we thought she was a good contact. She gives Americans a bad name lying to people like us. This hotel caters to tour buses & the food reflects that. Big portions of tasteless terrible food. Avoid this place at all costs. You have been warned!! I want my money back & as a New Yorker am insulted by the staff who are dishonest.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel

On arrival we were impressed. Admittedly it was dark but the hotel looked ultra modern and special. Our room had an initial wow factor but apart from a comfortable bed it only had one basic chair and dressing table, The only other furniture was in the form of shelves acting as bedside tables. The lighting was interesting but in our 3 night stay we failed to figure out which switch worked which light as they seemed to all be connected together. We augmented the furniture by bringing in chairs fro the paved area outside, which overlooked some bare ground. The fitted wardrobe was fine for us but some fellow guests found it impossible to reach the hanging rail! The bathroom was strange, with a slatted wooden floor with rocking slats. This extended into a walk in shower. We had a problem with the sliding door. Not only did the handle fall off on first use but the door was off its runners and my wife had to be rescued on one occasion when it stuck in the closed position.
The food was acceptable but the dining room was a little like a school canteen with two courses of dinner being buffet, requiring all diners to be constantly on the move to serve themselves. For breakfast we were asked to pre-order omelettes. This was a bit of a farce as you had to grab a waiter and could order whatever omelette you wanted without any recourse to the order you'd made the previous evening. The furniture in the bar was strange, the modernistic settees being described as if the cushions had been removed. We failed to find any toilets on the restaurant floor. We're there any? Another complaint was the number of stairs that had to be negotiated to reach guest bedrooms. We were lucky, only 3 stairs to our room on the ground floor. The grounds were extensive and the pool looked super although too cold to use on our visit in early May. The steps down to it did not bother us but would have been a problem for disabled guests.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the entrance level to avoid the stairs. Views better from upper rooms.

This hotel is well positioned to visit the Valley of the Temples and the Archaeological Museum (both of which are brilliant). But the hotel disappoints. It's not too bad, just not that good. Our room was over the bar, which was very noisy. We changed it, but then there was the noise of air conditioning units outside. And the corridors echo a lot. Big grounds, well maintained, but you cannot walk down to the sea (it's not far away, but you can't get through). The dining room is a bit like a canteen, though we did like the pictures on the walls! Dinner was good, and a good antipasti spread to start it off. But breakfast was not a pleasant experience. It was a bit manic; coffee awful, no fresh juice and no fresh fruit.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the bar if possible.

Pleasant modern hotel, good size rooms recently modernised. Strange decor with lots of orange. Three buildings connected with long passageways on the ground floor. No lift in one part and no porters so have to carry case up and down lots of stairs. Good bar service and reasonable prices. Food in the restarant is not brilliant, cheap ingrdients and poorly trained staff. Nice gardens and pool. Miles from anywhere so not good without a car or coach trip as our holiday was.

The designer of this hotel is obviously not short or unsteady on his feet. It is on many levels, with steps everywhere and only one out-of-the-way lift down to the dining room and NO bannisters or railings. There are very smart panels of glass alongside the stairs and nothing to hold onto. There do not seem to be any public toilets so if you are in the dining room and need to visit one, you have to wend your way back to your room.

The rooms are very smart - again - but really difficult. You need to be 6ft 6inches to reach the coat hangers - and then the actual hanging space is too short for a full length garment. In the shower room , state of the art, but incomprehensible, the floor is wooden and could be slippery and the bathroom unit had a nasty corner placed so as to catch your thigh as you walked into the bathroom.

The food was OK and the staff very friendly and helpful. Surroundings pleasant. But oh the design. Had I been younger and more athletic I might have enjoyed it more.

It's more a nice resort than a hotel. You need to have a car to get there and visit something interesting around.
One minus - you can't reach sea/beach on foot inspite of the hotel located less than one km from the sea.. :(

Room Tip: ask a room with a see view
