Agrigento is listed as number one on the temple list - so a hotel situated on a hill side overlooking the "valley of the temples" could be good. If you add in extensive gardens and terraces taking in that view it could be very good. Well, the gardens and terraces are very good - if only you could get a drink or a cup of coffee or something! But no - the "bar" is permanently unattended and asking in the restaurant (only open at night) is clearly not popular and takes forever. All of this could be forgiven if the restaurant was good - it is not! The food, from a severly limited (and clearly unchanging) menu is poor - and not cheap!
Add in surly, disinterested receptionvery ordinary, not very large rooms, and a large price tag and you have disappointment in spades.

GioSinatra, Proprietario at Colleverde Park Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded 23 April 2011

Dear Sir, Thank you for rating our position and our park that overlooks the Valley of the Temples.
However I would like to highlight some things that presumably have escaped.
Our hotel has two bars, one indoor and one outdoor that works only in summer.
In the cold period (in April we have had very cold and rainy days) our outside bar is closed.
In our sitting room adjoining the bar, our staff is at any time and always available to serve a cup of tea or a drink to our guests. Our restaurant, like many restaurants in the hotels in our area, is closed for lunch. I'm sorry that our menu was not of your liking, we bet a lot about Sicilian food and the quality of food. Our fish is always fresh and the variety of the menu is always visible not only in the restaurant but also at the reception desk and on a table near the restaurant. We do this to constantly inform our guests about the composition of the menu and prices. Our menu always includes about 10/12 different courses to add to the side dishes, desserts and dishes that our chef changes daily.
I do not think a menu so varied that in the days of your stay has been proposed to €27 including appetizer, first course, second course with side dish and dessert is expensive especially considering the fact that we use only top quality fish and meat. I realize that some Sicilian dishes may not appeal to everyone but our head waiter who speaks good English is always very willing to explain or suggest dishes to our customers. I'm sorry that you considered the room small and the price seemed high. In our website are clearly illustrated photos of our rooms, the size of each room type and rates for each type. This not less Agrigento is a small city but with a great range of accommodation for every need: from the most refined and elegant to the more economic and family.

We stayed at the Colleverde Park Hotel for 3 nights in February, one night in a deluxe double room and then a junior suite for the next 2 nights. Our deluxe double room was spacious, comfortable and had a view of the Valley of the Temples and the Mediterranean. We moved to the junior suite in order to have a separate sitting area although it meant losing our view. Both rooms had comfortable bedding and linens and were furnished with a mix of new and antique pieces. The baths had everything we needed or wanted with a large tub/shower combination and plenty of space.

The staff, both at the desk and in the restaurant, were exceptionally pleasant and capable and did everything possible to make our stay pleasurable. They were always inquiring about our stay and wanted to help in any way.

We ate in the restaurant both for our first night's dinner and for breakfast each morning and were pleased by the freshness and quality of the food and its presentation. There was a great selection of foods at the breakfast buffet and everything we tried was delicious. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful.

It is hard to beat the location if you are visiting the Valley of Temples. The hotel sits on the edge of town and just up the road from the historic site. There is onsite parking, a few other good restaurants just across the street and a small market up the street so you can buy some snacks or picnic supplies.

The hotel itself has really nice grounds. There are some small but beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel and several places outdoors to sit and relax. The hotel also has a spacious lobby and lounge area with several seating areas and a small bar which is happy to supply a variety of alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks.

My wife and I enjoyed this hotel. It was reasonably priced, staff was helpful & friendly, room was fine, there is an excellent trattoria right across the street and it's convenient for driving to the temples. Parking included. Free wi-fi, but limited to one hour.

We booked via hotels.com, got a good rate, a small, but nice room with templeview and had dinner at the restaurant which was at a moderate price, nice ambiente, good service, excellent wine but food was average. The gardens are also a plus and the view is really nice! If one gets a good deal and eats outside, this hotel is very recommendable!

This hotel is an oasi in Agrigento. It's warmth and comfort make you feel right at home. The rooms are confortable, the staff are welcoming and helpful. Great View of the Temple Ruins. The temples were lit up at night and looked so magnificent. The food was also very good. We got a great price which included breakfast and internet wifi making this hotel a great place to stay. I cannot make a stronger recommendation.
