No negative criticism can be made about this establishment. Maybe the two-way access road is worryingly narrow and the high door steps may alarm the elderly or those with walking problems, but once you get in, you are in a miniature paradise.
Not only the scenic, airy rooms, the tasteful décor, the original crockery will capture your eye, but the courtesy of the staff will put you immediately at ease, the set menu and à la carte list are mouth watering, the portions are gargantuan (beware: if you choose the set menu you won't most likely be able to finish it) and the presentation superb. The quality of the food is truly excellent and the grilled tuna fish is worth even a long trip.
To try and try again.

We had a delicious meal at La Vigna in beautiful surroundings. Driving up to and down from the restaurant is an experience, for someone used to driving on the other side of the road!
The food was delicious and the service businesslike but friendly. The restaurant is very pretty and we had booked a table with a view, which I would recommend. Watching the lights come on in Alassio while eating delightful food surrounded by flowers and vines - heaven!

The location is as amazing as is shown on the website and as covered in other reviews. The menu, the wine and the prices are all very good indeed. The interior of the restaurant is smart but informal, with the views over the bay quite spectacular as the sun sets and the lights of Alassio appear. As for the potential to improve - some of the younger waiting staff appeared either nervous or detached from their clients - even with the locals, where the language issue was not a factor. This is something that should improve with experience, we feel....

Follow the narrow road that climbs on the hills behind Alassio toward Solva.
200 yards before the end of the road ( I mean the road doesn’t go further) on your right, there is the La Vigna restaurant. Park in the private parking and enter into the small building.
There is a large terrace, and outside an open veranda. Choose a table close to the window/ edge in order to enjoy a wonderful view of the Alassio gulf.
The recipes are mainly based on Liguria (that Italian region) and Provence (the French bordering area)
The menu offers both fish and meat, but start with their sumptuous Pinzimonio: raw veggies according to the season to dip in olive paste, anchovy paste or simply oil, salt and pepper.
But please: forget everything you know about olive tapenade and fishy anchovy cream. They use local Taggiasche black olives or salted anchovy and their oil. Nothing else. Pure flavor.
As starter there is the choice of a 10 courses appetizer of both warm and cold fish and seafood and also some meat and cold cuts. A really huge starter that could feed two, if you plan to enjoy also the other courses.
Very good pastas... with seafood or pesto.... fresh grilled fish or roasted meat and good dessert. Wine list centered on local wines, perfect for the local food.
There are also two tasting menus (fish or meat) for around a fixed price of $45.
Kind service, without the rush... so you can enjoy the view.
Ideal for a romantic dinner under the moon.
