... it was already 2pm when we droped in to ask if we still could have lunch. No problema - we were seated and had one of the most amazing long lunches with a couple of the best Barolo's (one of them a Monprivato) cheaper on their wine list then in the wine shop in Barolo!!! The son of the family owned restaurant was serving us a feast. Fantastic pasta, Vitello tonnato and some wonderful mains and desserts... It was better than all the best rated restaurant in Alba and we just had to go back the next evening for dinner and were not disappointed. A delicous dinner with a couple of fine wines (good we were four people...) one of them a "Luciano Sandrone 2004". I was enquiring what "Burrata" meant and our waiter (again the son of owners) tried to explain in English and Italian but after some misunderstandings came back with a "google" print out! What a service!!! Of course I ordered the Burrata and it was wonderful - its a kind of Mozzarello from Puglia and sooo good. The owners are originaly from Puglia we learned. After our primi piatti's we had all some great mains and then desserts on top of it. There were five desserts on the menu and we would have loved to try them all. After much debating four dessert were ordered and guess what - the mother hearing our battle to decide came with the fifth dessert, compliments of the house!!! Well, it doesn't agree with a weight watcher diat but hey -who cares when in Italy.... Its always worth to be humble and make an effort to appreciate and compliment great food and attentive service. It comes back a thousend time. For us the best restaurant in Alba and we will be back. Tanti Auguri and mille grazie!
