“Did not live up to expectations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2011

Wife and I spent a week here hoping to avoid the crowds a little eveb though it's August. Work only allows high August hols fur us but we usually manage to find a relaxing destination to our likings.

As we selected Tenuta for its description of tranquility, quiet, rural charm and excellent food we were very disappointed to find quite the contrary.

Pos:
Rooms are comfy
Estate is charming

Neg:
Overcrowded with families and young children
No quiet or tranquility by the pool in the afternoon
Restaurant and food

The restaurant in particular was a deception. It was about as pleasant as a trip to Ikea on a Saturday afternoon. Children screaming and crying at the top of their lungs everywhere and service (very sweet but in a big hurry!) rushing you through your dinner. It was as if we were animals that needed to be fed rather than guests. We were so disappointed in the atmosphere.

The food itself was usually ok especially considering the reasonable price. Pasta and meat were great. Menu did not vary much though and disappointment turned into irritation when my wife ordered from the mains the 'insalate di chef'. It was a bowl of lettuce with tuna and some mais, both from a can.

We felt cheated.

Tenuta Pilastru is a modern hotel with a nice very rural location close to Olbia and Costa Smeralda as well as other beaches. The rooms are in style but modern and all amenities, a nice swimming pool. The restaurant is excellent and the Sardinian menu or three course menus including their own wine is a bargain. Check for need to reserve a table before you arrive to the hotel.
Only downside is there is no internet, but in a place like this you
won't miss it.

A beautiful setting those that prefer remote locations. Excellent standard of accommodation for the price paid with great food and lovely, genuine service. Massage was one of the best I've had and a quick dip in the pool after made this a stay to remember. Would definitely recommend.....

This place is beautiful, not only the location is great, with great views and a 25 minutes car ride away from all places you need to know around this area, but also the staff is really amazing! The rooms are beautiful, you have your own patio with great views, and the deco and bathrooms are great. Every morning we went to the reception and a girl (sorry I never asked your name) always gave us great tips for restaurants, hidden beaches (Cala Coticcio worth the 45 minutes rocky walk there) and nice towns we could visit, she always had a smile and patience for us. The breakfast is very good, with great cheese and parma from the island. I will definetely go back to this beautiful hotel.

It took us some time to find this place which was at least 10 minutes drive from Arzechena along a long deserted windy road. It was a well hidden gem - we stayed in their largest Formula Residence - a two bedroomed bungalow with lounge/diner/kitchen in one and nice terrace with seating and small coffee table and lovely green valley views. Strangely the dining table and chairs were inside but should have been on the terrace to enjoy al fresco eating. The bedrooms were beautifully furnished and both had huge ensuite bathrooms with bath, bidet and large walk in showers. There was even a third bathroom and we had 3 hairdryers in total! i loved the shuttered windows so there was no light or noise or disturbance in the morning which meant we all had fantastic sleep. One of the double bedrooms had an extra single bed over in one corner. Rooms were large.
The swimming pool set in large grassed area was huge with a baby pool and perfect temperature.
We ate in the restaurant once as we were out and about most of the time. The food was fantastic and the meal was all inclusive of their fabulous wine, water and after dinner liqueurs. They agreed a special rate for the children. The only problem was that it was 3 courses, so a lot to eat.
You can book boat tours from the reception, they were quite knowledgeable on locations, beaches and areas.
It was a fantastic place to stay and have recommended it to all that I know.
The only downside was that we had to drive absolutely everywhere but it was central to the ports, villages and hundreds of different sandy bays to choose from within 20 minutes which is nothing. Some were unfurnished, whilst others were well organised with beach loungers (around E12 per chair). Baia Sardinia beach was nice with boats on hire and a great pedestrian area to walk around after behind it with fab shops, gelato parlours, outdoor cocktail bars and pizzerias. there is a car park, DONT park on main road along beach - you will get a ticket.
Its a pitty we did not explore the nearby town of Arzechena - apparently it has lots to offer. We found a fantastic supermarket - Euro Spin and a marvellous restaurant 5 minutes out of Arzechena on the right hand side - al fresco dining. The freshest fish I have ever had.
In all, marvellous place for a holiday.

The site of this B&B is lovely. Well kept, with lots of space so that even though it might be sold out, you still have your own privacy.

Had initially been given a room in the main building, but based on a review I read somewhere, requested a room in one of the chalets, which made the experience even that much better. We had our own terrace and good just relax for hours. The breakfast was pretty good, and service was perfect. I would not complain about anything regarding this b&b.

I am a huge fan of this place. Have been there a few times now and it never disappoints me. Beautiful, nice food, horse riding, near to the beaches, quiet, great pool, well kept, honestly priced.
And they'll add a small spa soon as well.
