“Nice B&B”
Reviewed 9 July 2010

The site of this B&B is lovely. Well kept, with lots of space so that even though it might be sold out, you still have your own privacy.

Had initially been given a room in the main building, but based on a review I read somewhere, requested a room in one of the chalets, which made the experience even that much better. We had our own terrace and good just relax for hours. The breakfast was pretty good, and service was perfect. I would not complain about anything regarding this b&b.

I am a huge fan of this place. Have been there a few times now and it never disappoints me. Beautiful, nice food, horse riding, near to the beaches, quiet, great pool, well kept, honestly priced.
And they'll add a small spa soon as well.

Fabulous, idyllic setting. The accommodation is private and the surroundings beautifully kept with a picturesque pool setting. We have two small children and they loved the freedom that the grassy areas gave them. We stayed in one of the apartments and with two bedrooms, two bathrooms it felt like luxury with really modern fixtures and fittings (no dishwasher but we weren't doing much self catering). A beautiful place, restaurant food could be a bit more varied but nice to have on site (book early if you want to eat there). A good half an hour trek to the coast but coming back to such a tranquil setting made it worthwhile.

Beautiful little agrioturismo set 20 mins drive away from Porto Cervo and the bustling Costa Smerelda resorts.

Def worth saving the money and having the relaxing environment of Arzenchena rather than trying to stay someone closer to sea, even if you wish to travel down each day (which we did and 20-25mins drive is so easy).

Hotel has a nice pool, beautiful HUGE rooms with modern comforts. Wonderful bathroom and great hotel staff. The restaurant is also very good but worth booking up front as very popular with non hotel guests too (due to nice food and extremely reasonable prices €20/head inc wine for 3 course Italian menu or €29/head inc wine for 5 course traditional Sardinian feast!).

Really enjoyed my stay with my girlfriend here, very romantic setting amongst the granite rocks and green rolling hills - and the hotel was an absolute gem, especially at the price too!

Def return here if I come back to Sardinia.

Thank You!

This rural retreat was a great base from which to explore the north of the island. My girlfriend and I visited at the end of August for a week.

However we were disappointed to realise how hard it was to eat in the hotel restaurant. This had to be booked at least a couple days in advance for the traditional meal, and meant we weren't able to get food in our own hotel on the night we arrived and were forced to find a restaurant somewhere along the road.

I did not find the staff particularly welcoming but feel that this may have been due to my lack of italian language skills. The only time I was made to feel welcome on the island was actually when visiting the more expensive restaurants.

I was also disappointed to find that the hotel had no snack bar or shop. This prevented you from being able to simply relax all day by the pool. The pool is really more a place to take a quick dip in the morning after breakfast before exploring stretches of the coast during the day.

However overall, the rooms were clean and of a good size and provided a comfortable and well located place to stay. If I return to Sardinia in the future, it will be to Alghero which was by far the most picturesque and relaxed destination we visited in our short week.

  • Liked — Room decoration
  • Disliked — Service
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't come here to relax. Far too much hectic driving.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tenuta Pilastru for four nights at the end of July. The hotel is situated about two miles West of Arzachena and is therefore a convienient base for the Northern tip of Sardinia with it's beautiful coast and azure waters.

The hotel is a converted farm with many small outbuildings used as chalets. The room we had was simple but of a high standard, having thick-tiled floors and quality fixtures. This is granite country and this material is used in abundance in the construction of the hotel and chalets.

The restaurant is charming with large-sectioned timbers stretching across the ceiling. Diners have the choice of eating inside in air-conditioned comfort, or taking the view on the balcony. The fare is traditional Sardinian and much of it is produced on the estate including, I believe, the lovely wine which is served in copious carafes with evening meals. On the subject of tradition with regard to food, it is worth mentioning that meat is the staple in Sardinian culture. The hotel is true to this culture and so, if you eat to a political agenda, then eat out during the evenings. Lunch is not served as most guests explore during the day.

At the time of writing, the hotel are building a huge new barbeque which will further enhance the dining experience.

The reception staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They will help you if you want to take boat-trips and I believe (although I'm not sure) that mountain biking can be arranged too.

The pool is always open and is child - friendly.

If you are looking for a typical "resort" hotel, with entertainments and a late bar, then Tenuta Pilastru is not for you.

A couple of points to note:
Hiring a car is a MUST.
Late July and August are very hot and cover the Italian holiday season.
Olbia is the nearest airport and is very "easy" compared to others we've used.

We paid about 450 Euro for four nights - great value. We will almost certainly return to Tenuta Pilastru.
