“Parc Hotel Germano Apartments”
Reviewed 18 July 2012

I am writing this on behalf of my daughter who stayed July 2012.

Booked an apartment, 2 adults, 1 x 2 year old. Size of apartment is very good, separate bedroom, plenty of wardrobe space. Lovely bathroom with proper hair dryer, not tube.
Room is large, sofa bed for 2 year old, they were given a cot after 1st day, so dont know whether they could have got away with a smaller apartment, but they were happy with what they had. Open plan room, tiled floor, with kitchen, round table and chairs to sit on, sofa bed and flat screen television etc. There was also a television in the bedroom.

Furniture is lovely, was asked to pay £150 or Euro (not sure which) deposit in case of breakages, not aware of this at the time of booking, room was checked over before they left, all OK, BUT had to ask the reception for their £150 deposit back!

Outside was easy chairs and loungers, also there was wooden sliding shutters to cover your bedroom windows to keep sun out which I thought was a good idea, as well as the curtains inside.

This is a large complex, but has a quiet area, lovely pool that overlooks Lake Garda and seating around the gardens.

You can order bread on site for the following day. You can also get snacks, pizza, chips etc for lunch. They did not dine in the restaurant, they decided to walk into Bardolino centre and use the many restaurants there. The walk into Bardolino centre is down the hill from the complete to the roundabout in the main road, cross over road at crossing, take care as not all stop to let you over, then cut through the car park, turn left at the bottom of car park towards the Nettuno Hotel. If you walk in front of the Nettuno's main entrance, this is a quiet road and you can cut 10 minutes off your time into town, as this takes you directly into the town centre, or you can walk around the headland along the lake side.

They used the camp site shop to the side of the Nettuno a couple of times, also the supermarket on the main road next to Christina Colour Hotel, the supermarket also has an upstairs, my daughter said they sell everything you could possible need. There is also a little deli shop in Bardolino in the street down from the church (not the one in main square).

They enjoyed their stay, wanted to go self catering with having the 2 year old.
.........................................................................

(This part is nothing to do the the apartments)

At the time of booking through Inghams they were asked if this was a special holiday, they were going for their honeymoon, Inghams marked it down at the time of booking, my daughter thought there might have been flowers or fruit in room, but no, so why ask. Also there was suppose to be a free trip included in the price of her holiday which they never got (I dont think they were that bothered, but you need to watch out in case the same thing happens to you , at least the rep should have told them about it and leave it up to them to decide if to go or not, so if you book through Inghams ask about the deposit for breakages and the trip info.

They would go back to the Parc Germano again, this type of holiday was the best option for them, they would not have felt comfortable in a hotel, they tried that last year but decided on self catering, and the freedom to eat when & where they wanted.

Dont forget, there is now an additional tax paid directly to your hotel/apartment from June - Sept - 1 euro per person per night in a 4* resort to be paid in cash, under 12 year olds do not pay, this came into effect this year.

Stayed in April 2012, had a room with private pool. Was just perfect. Breakfast is very good. Everything is fresh and tasty. Hotel is a bit noisy - a lot of kids.

Dear Dasha,

thank you for your review. It may happen that many people come together in our hotel, many children being among them especially in the swimming pool—we're sorry if you found it somehow unpleasant. Anyway our rooms and suites are as quiet and as pleasant as they come, as you surely noticed. We're glad that you appreciated your stay and look forward to seeing you again next time. :-)

I don't believe it is possible to get anywhere better in terms of location, quality of accomodation, food, sensible pricing and above all staff. The hotel is so well laid out and designed it is enjoyable just to walk around the grounds. The pools are wonderful from the hustle and bustle of the family pool to the expansive and oh so quiet quiet pool. Our suite was well equipped and comfortable and very quiet. Bed linen and towels were changed regularly and so were the pool towels. The poolside snackbar is excellent with good quality food at really good prices. The hotel also do an evening pizza takeaway service that is again good value especially as the pizzas are delicious. The restaurant menu is extensive with dishes of the day available. However, the best thing about this place has to be the staff. From my initial booking through to changes of dates they were helpful and accomodating. On arrival, after a long drive from Mulhouse the reception staff were helpful and quick. The cleaners and buggy drivers who deliver your luggage from reception to your room couldn't have been more helpful or efficient. In the restaurant all of the staff were good but Roberto who is in charge is brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble and he has a great sense of humour. My daughter is a vegan and we had anticipated problems but aside from the fact that there were dishes on the menu she could eat anyway Roberto sprang a few surprises that she loved. Many thanks to the chefs for those as well. Would I go again? Like a shot, this is one of the best places we have ever been to.

Room Tip: We stayed in 208 which was central to everything.

Very happy with this hotel where we took an appartment for two. Facilities are very good with a well equiped Spa and gym and also a 'quiet area' with excellent pool. Short walk into town with wide choice of bars and restaurants. Would definitely return to and recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Our appartment had noisy process equipment located just outside. We had to insist on a change of app...

Our family chose this hotel to stay at on 12th May 2012 for 7 nights. 10 family members stayed here including our 2 year old daughter. It was a special holiday as we got married at Tori del Benaco, Lake Garda,

STAFF - Right from check in to check out the staff at the Parc Hotel Germano were excellent. They went out of their way to help make our holiday special. Unfortunatly my husband an I forgot to bring our daughters buggy and was finding it difficult to walk into Bardolino and back as after 5 minutes walk our daughter wanted to be carried. The reception staff managed to get a buggy for us that we could borrow for the remainder of our holiday. The reception staff remembered all of our names (party of 10) and ensured that all of our transport was booked on our wedding day. I can't praise them enough for being helpful and going that extra mile.

ROOMS - We chose to book a suite with its own pool. This was a great choice and we found that being able to put our daughter to sleep in the living area then be able to go out of the patio door of the bedroom and enjoy take away pizza outside in front of the pool was great. If I did return to the hotel I might not book a room with a pool with our daughter as there we no rails around it. (some brochures do say not suitable for families with toddlers).

My mam, dad and brother stayed in a 3 room apartment next door to us which was massive and very well equipped.

FOOD - Breakfast was lovely, the buffet was always well stocked and the food to order was excellent every morning. Staff were friendly and by the end of the week knew what we wanted. High chairs were very new and clean and we always managed to get one.

We had one evening meal at the restaurant and enjoyed every bite!

HOTEL GROUNDS - Very clean and great to wander round with a toddler. We took bread up to feed the fish in the lake. Unfortunalty I am a bit of a whimp and found the pools to cold but other family members braved them.

SPA & INDOOR POOL - I didn't manage to try the treatments out in the spa but that was just due to lack of time. We did go in the indoor pool (warm) and took an aqua aerobics class which I thouroughly enjoyed.

I would go back to this hotel without a doubt. Its only a 10 minute stroll along the lake into Bardolino so very well positioned.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of June in an apartment for 6 people. The location of the hotel is great, just out on the outskirts of Bardolino, just a 10 minute stroll away and only 30 minutes walk to Garda. The apartment was fitted out to a good standard. It would be difficult to fully self cater with the kitchen facilities, but they are adequate for breakfast and snacks. Fresh breads and pastries can be ordered from the hotel shop and the restaurant does a take away service (which was great for pizza).

Only minor gripe with the apartment itself was the ventilation and air conditioning. The ground floor bedroom and the main living room (with sofa bed) only have patio doors for ventilation, which we didn't want to leave open at night for security reasons. But the air conditioning doesn't operate until July (despite us having a few really hot days) which made sleeping uncomfortable in these rooms. Can we not have AC option at all times, or a smaller openable window ?

The grounds of the hotel are a credit to the establishment and it was great to wander around as the sun set over the lake. There is a choice of swimming pools, patios, quiet areas etc. to choose from, so there is something to suit eveyone. There is no argument that this hotel must have one of the most stunning views over Lake Garda in the whole of Bardolino, which has to be seen.

We had eaten out in several restaurants in Bardolino and at other places around the Lake during our days out, choosing to leave the Hotel Restuarant for the last nights 'special meal' before we left. We had booked a table on the balcony to enjoy the view and while away our last night. Then it all went wrong..........

The table for 5 we had booked, was set as a table for 4, so they had to rapidly re-set and modify the table layout. There are far too many staff, and very few have any idea of what good customer service is about ! We ordered a selection platter for a starter for 3 people, this duly arrived with plates for 2 people - and it took us the best part of 5 minutes before someone actually acknowledged us again and resolved the problem.

The food itself is good, there were no complaints here at all, we had previoulsy used the take away service in the week and the pizza's were fantastic. The Restuarant Manager (whoever he was; it could have been anyone from 3 as no-one seemed in control) wants to get a grip on this and sort it out. There were only about 30 people dining, with staff of at least 7 on hand, yet no one actually seemed totally satisfied, there seemed quite a few people with issues ! A lot of time was spent by the staff lifting a serving trolley up and down the steps to the balcony everytime it was needed, with resulting broken plates on one occasion. Has anyone, considered simply buying another trolley to leave on the balcony level - as this looks very un-professional.

We had previously eaten on 3 occasions at the Hotel Catullo during the week, down at the harbour front in Bardolino. Here only 4 staff were serving going on for a hundred people, with no fuss or effort and the head waiter had time for a laugh and a chat with everyone. Perhaps, it's time for someone from the Germano Parc to take a trip down here and see what they do that makes things right.

We would return to Bardolino and stay at the Germano Parc, but we certinly wouldn't use the Hotels Restuarant again !

We just got back from q 4 day stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, I have to say that I feel disappointed. In short: I am 100% sure I put a DVD on my nightstand and it was still there at 11am and then after we had gotten back from lunch, we got back to a semi clean room with my DVD missing. I know it is not a big loss. I am not talking money. Or like the receptionist put it: "It is not like it was a $10,000 watch." If the staff had been understanding and helpful in this matter, we would have had a glass of wine and been done with it. Instead we got accused of having it misplaced which I know was not the case, because I had organized my things that morning and I was looking forward to watching it on my laptop - which was luckily still there. When checking out the next day my mom asked the lady at the counter POLITELY if they had found out anything about the DVD, and the lady went off on her." If she wanted to accuse her staff of stealing such a worthless item." or " Do you want to call the police because of a DVD???" and so on. Yes, we were happy our jewelery was still there, but at the same time we thought the hotel might want to know about things dissapearing. Bottom line, we didn't feel welcome, the service was very poor. If they had offered us a drink on the house for the trouble, we would have been happy and done with it, but when we got into our car we were glad to leave and we are surely not going back! The biggest problem seemed to be that there was no senior manager present, and all the younger staff seemed to be preoccupied and too busy trying to look important. Not a place if you want to be welcome.
