“Superb Hotel”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

This is an ultra modern hotel located just of the lake in Bardolino. The hotel is finished to a very high standard with a theme of water running throughout the hotel. We stayed in a suite whilst we were here which was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The suite consisted of two rooms a large bedroom with a bathroom and a whirlpool bath and a separate living room with its own bathroom. Maid service was provided twice a day and the rooms were cleaned to a very high standard.

The hotel has extensive leisure facilities with a very good spa which provides a large range of treatments, there are also indoor and outdoor pools to choose from and a very good and well equipped hotel gym.

I would certainly recommend this hotel to any people considering staying in Bardolino.

We recently visited this hotel for 4 nights. The rooms were a great size and were cleaned twice a day. Unfortunately our room had a bad smell of stale smoke...which was horrible considering we are non-smokers. Some of the pool bar and reception staff were very rude, but the Sparkling Lounge staff were brilliant. The hotel is in quite a good location, set back from the main town and only a 10 minute walk to go for dinner and to the lake. We hired a car for a day and drove up to Melcesine which is beautiful, you can go in a cable car to the top of Mount Baldo which over looks the lake - absolutely gorgeous and would highly recommend doing it. In our opinion this hotel is more of a 3* than 4*.

A couple of days in Italy showing up on the schedule and with lots of things to transport back, it was better to use the car this time. Leave the motorway Milano-Venezia at Peschiera and drive along the lake via Lazise for Bardolino, where the hotel is well signed from the main road.
Arrival late Saturday evening, the hotel was informed about our room preference, quiet, not for the pool and upper level. Reservations was really cooperative with our requests all around. And also a nice welcome from the agent at the desk when we arrived. No time to wait to go for our place to spend the next days. The room itself modern designed and perfectly clean, there is also a balcony on offer to spend some time in between the daily activities. Also the bathroom well and functional designed, really spacious.
Typical italian noise from the outside, but nevertheless ok for a well nights sleep with the balcony door open.
Breakfast was included in our rate, everything what we need or not on offer, breadrolls, toast, pancakes, cakes, several kinds of tea bags and also hot items like eggs or else.
Further for the several in and outdoor pools, chairs enough available and also a tropic style seating area. There is a large parking garage on offer with space enough and it´s free of charge.
The historic and nice town center of Bardolino is some ten minutes only to walk from the hotel, no need to use the car, with lots of typical italian Ristorante, Pizzeria and Gelateria´s available.
For sure a good place to spend some days around the Lago di Garda.
Also no time to wait during check-out late morning on departures and the SS450 for Castelnuovo/Peschiera is also not that far from the hotel to avoid the congestion on the road along the lake.
Back with a fully loaded car of precious italian stuff!.
Are there any downsides to notice?:
Well, just a side note, I should stay connected also during this trip and Internet is only 30 minutes for free per day. Three days = 12.00 Euros, ok, but the number of users is also limited, that´s something to improve, Internet should be for free these times.

This is a really lovely hotel. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. We didn't arrive until lunchtime after an early morning flight and our room wasn't ready until after 3pm which was later than we expected. However we were offered the choice of going to the pool until the room was ready but we were too hot and tired and just wanted to sit in a cool area. It was lovely to be offered a chilled glass of Prosecco when we arrived though. They looked after our luggage and brought it up to our room when we finally got checked in.

The bedroom: the bed was huge with lovely pillows. There was a big sofa bed for our son but there wasn't really much space to move between the two beds. The air conditioning in the room was nice and quiet. There were little recycling bins in one of the drawers and we got a few chocolates on our bed every night. The bathroom was great with a nice walk in shower. There was a heat/sun deflecting (?) blind which you could lower to reduce the need for air conditioning. It had a nice little balcony where you could sit and have a late nice glass of wine whilst watching the orange moon.

The bedroom TV had a number of ITV and BBC channels so if you wanted you could keep up with what was happening back home.

The view from our room was a little disappointing. We were on the first floor and we overlooked the car parking area and the back of some houses, and we often heard the empty bottles being emptied into nearby bins. And it also sounded like we had a heard of elephants in the room above us every night! Also we noticed broken biscuits on the balcony when we checked in and it was a few days before they were cleaned up.

On one night we were woken up by what I think was an emergency light from the ceiling shining directly onto our faces. Then early on another morning, the fire alarm went off and we all started to evacuate half asleep only to find out it was a false alarm. We got a nice letter from the manager later on saying something about lightening and rain being the cause.

The restaurant: the waiting staff were great (special mention to Douglas who was brilliant, and Vera) and were very efficient and worked extremely hard. We got our own numbered table for dinner outside on the verandah. The first and second courses at dinner were waiter service with a choice of different dishes (eg poultry, fish, red meat, veggie). The food was top quality and beautifully presented. Four courses every night. However I didn't realise that Italian roast beef is served almost rare so I would have avoided that if I'd known! The wine is reasonably priced too. Three euros for a decent glass of wine - great value.

Breakfast was super too. You can make your own fruit or veggie juices, you can have omelettes cooked to order, have a glass or two of Prosecco if you want. Doughnuts, pastries, cake, hot, cold food, fruits, pancakes, cereals etc - yummy.

The hotel laid on a special dinner one evening in the gardens to celebrate Ferragosto, with a live band and mood lighting. It was stunning but the service was a little slow and as my husband had a bad cold and my son was also a little poorly we left around 10.30pm even though we still hadn't been served the main course.

The pool bar was good too. Nice spritzes and snacks at reasonable prices. One afternoon they handed out free slices of delicious watermelon.

The pools: fantastic. We loved the lazy river which at the push of a button became white water rapids. My son would have spent all day in it. Good choice of indoor and outdoor pools and whirlpools. We always managed to get sunbeds, even if it was late morning but we had to hunt around or move a spare one from elsewhere. There was also an attendant you could ask to help you find them. You are not allowed to reserve sunbeds either which was quite refreshing.

The spa: stupendous. A great choice of different saunas and steam rooms. Subdued coloured lighting, dedicated ladies area too but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. My hubby went to the spa on his own one day and told me that there were a few large naked men wandering around, so be aware! I had a body massage one day and it really was a body massage (from my experience in the UK you don't tend to get your 'front' done) but was very nice. I also had a thai foot massage in the secluded bamboo garden which was heavenly.

A quick word about the resort tax at this hotel. It was one euro per night per adult (not kids under a certain age). And it was added onto our final bill so we didn't have to pay for it in cash when we arrived despite the guidance we've read elsewhere.

Overall it is a lovely, classy hotel. It has a nice, relaxed, atmosphere about it, with the sound of tinkling water throughout the grounds. It is also just a few minutes walk into Bardolino. The staff are lovely. The guests range from families, to couples, to the more mature but are all friendly and courteous and well behaved (if you get my drift). If the hotel keeps these standards or even enhances them, I fully expect this to be the number one or two out of all hotels on Tripadvisor for Bardolino one day. So why not a top rating from me? Well, it can't equal the Sugar Beach in Mauritius which I gave top marks to, but it is pretty close.

Room Tip: Try to get a garden facing room. Good views of the pools and gardens. Even try the second floor whic...

Wonderful hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Pools were out of this world indoor and outdoor- kids had an amazing time on the mini 'lazy river' which was not so lazy. Great food - Would definitely return.

Stayed 5 nights at the end of a busy 2wk honeymoon. Upgraded to a suite on arrival, with prosecco and fresh fruit gift in the suite at no cost. Massive, very comfortable circular bed, jacuzzi bath, 2 bathrooms, and UK channels on TV. Fantastic facilities, and no problem too much for the helpful and polite staff. Enjoyed the dinner menu, selecting some dishes i wouldn't ordinarily have tried. Very impressed with drinks prices across the board - 15 euro a bottle for a sparkling Chiaretto Bardolino that was superb. Spotless hotel with twice daily room cleaning/turndown service.

Relaxing, comfortable, stress free - just what we needed after tramping the streets of Rome, Venice etc for 10days..... Recommended

Thank you so much everyone at the aqualuxe. I wouldn't even describe this as a hotel, more of a get-away paradise. You feel completely peaceful and relaxed, the grounds are stunning and the pools are all beautiful! The staff are all so friendly and make you feel right at home, the food is out of this world-the best I've ever had! Not enough adjectives in the world to describe how faultless this place is, will without a doubt be returning and highly recommend it to everyone!!
