“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

Just back from a week in the Aqualux Hotel and overall we had a great holiday and a very enjoyable hotel experience. Rooms were serviced 2x daily, all staff were pleasant and helpful, grounds very well maintained, pool areas very clean at all times and breakfast was varied. Although very busy it never felt crowded and there was always sun loungers available. Guests are encouraged to be respectful of other guests and this was apparent throughout our stay - lying by the pool was relaxing and tranquil. Would definitely consider staying here again but next time would probably stay longer so as to explore more of what Lake Garda has to offer.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the car park but next time I might request a room that overlooks the garden or p...

This was out first trip to the Lake and unfortunately we happen to arrive during a week long amount of Storms, heavy rain and sub 20c temps so I will try and keep this review fair and not let that dictate my views.

Reception - Was very welcoming and friendly they checked us in pretty quick while we enjoyed a nice glass of sparkly wine.

Pools, there spa and pool area was lovely but we weren't able to use it as the weather wasn't at all favourable.

Room - We asked for a room over looking the pool which they provided, this was a nice view and the room was off a fair size, the bed was round but was very comfortable. The rest of the room was well appointed and looked fairly new.

The room bad points:
- The roof seems to leak water even when not raining so while sitting on the balcony we had constant dripping onto the metal try which was fairly irritating
- The shower and toilet are not in the same room as the sink, so with your unwashed hands you have to constantly open and close the door
- The shower floor was stone and had deep grooves this meant that each person who had used it let a little more skin stuck in what looked like a giant used foot stone. This was yellow and looked awful (Showered with flip flops)

Breakfast - The break is quite small area unless it isn't raining, the select is a little limited compared to the Pullman we stayed in Paris few days earlier. The fried selection is eggs, small sausages and bacon, very small dishes meant we were waiting for top ups regularly.

One thing that did really, really shock us is the lack of table offered coffee, this was indicated by a waiter grunting at me and pointing to a machine that looked like it was stolen from a service station, the coffee produced by said machine was equally rank! Never on holiday in a 4+ star hotel have we not been offered proper filter coffee!!

Staff - The reception staff were very nice, but the breakfast staff were very rude and also quite moody. One member of staff brought a dirty brown bag into the breakfast area and pushed past me to fill the bread roll basket, this sort of thing I should not see! Not seating meant it was a free for all and this then lost the feel of attentiveness and care for us.

On the way to Lake Garda we stayed at the Pullman Bercy Paris, for 2 nights and it was in terms of hotel, breakfast and staff far out performed the Aqualux which is a shame.

One very good plus point was we had to leave early and they offered a voucher to return for the nights not used, this was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. But this doesn't detract from some simple failings that can make this hotel quite lovely.

Room Tip: Get an 2nd floor room facing inwards

Dear DannyWooly,
Thank you for your kind feedback and for having spent your stay with us during your visit to Lake Garda.
You have been so unlucky with the weather condition and actually it was really bad!
I would like to answer to your comments which you underlined in your review:
Many hotels, modern houses and different other location sink is separated from toilette and etc….and of course there is a door … It is a little bit difficult to me to think that it is uncomfortable to open/close the door ….If you wash your hand you have a towel close to the sink.
Shower floor: we had maintenance works and workers used a special glue to install the mosaic. This glue fall down and wasn’t removed immediately. Therefore we haven’t been able to remove it by washing it with specific product. In low season when the room will be not used we have to replace the shower tray.
I assure you that shower floor/tray was cleaned twice a day .
Breakfast: we offer a very wide choice at our buffet and food proposals are balance to our clientele markets. If you compare Paris hotel buffet breakfast to Lake Garda breakfast buffet it is quite normal to notice the difference.. Paris is very much international and it has to offer much more than us in order to satisfy all the international guests it has!
Coffee machine: many 4 stars hotels have coffee machine stations and if you would like to have a regular espresso you can ask for it to our waiters.
Staff: dirty brown bag…. I’m sorry not to believe on that… we constantly receive inspections and the word “dirty” is avoid.

Pullman Bercy Paris is for sure a very nice hotel but I think that each location has its own quality and lack . You came to Lake Garda with the mood to spend holidays and you got heavy rain and bad weather….which influenced a lot on your personal expectations. I hope you will have a chance to come back to Bardolino and try again Aqualux experience in order to upgrade our efforts to daily satisfy our clients.

Kindest regards.

We have just returned from a most wonderful 10 day stay at this beautiful, well organised Hotel.

The Reception staff at check-in were welcoming and pleasant providing a courtesy glass of Prosecco and an invitation to explore the grounds which were immaculate as our room wouldn't be available, which we fully expected due to our early morning flight.

Once in our room, "wow", beautifully modern but with enough touches not to look stark and uninviting, and not at all small as a previous reviewer suggested. Soundproofing was very good ensuring a very restful nights sleep and peaceful wake-up without doors banging here there and everywhere like most Hotels. Air-Con that worked, the display tells you the current temperature and selecting either the up/down arrow on the panel allows you to select your preferred temperature and intensity of the system. White bedsheets and towels - not in the slightest tatty or worn, complimentary bathrobe and slippers for use throughout your stay, complimentary tea/coffee facilities and a fridge/mini bar. The bathroom was light and spacious, a very powerful shower that never ran out of hot water or pressure, complimentary toiletries that were replenished if used, hairdryer with plenty of oomph, and a double sided vanity/shaving mirror, plug sockets near the mirror - a rare event in lots of Hotels and a particular annoyance of mine and many other female travellers I am sure. Everything spotlessly clean. The TV offered a large choice of channels and an acceptable number of UK channels, I was a little surprised there was no Sky or BBC News but other English speaking news channels were available. A spacious wardrobe and complimentary safe. Whilst initially there weren't enough coat hangers for me personally we asked and we got......that's the thing with the Aqualux, the staff are always willing to assist in anyway they can so if there's something you want or are unsure about then just ask.

Breakfast is "free seating", as in chose a table of your preference, however at peak times if you are unsure a table is free just ask the staff who are happy to assist locating one. We only really experienced a busy Breakfast once and that was purely due to the weather making the outside seating un-useable. Plenty of choice - cold meats, cheeses, breads, cakes, pastries, 3 types of croissants, yoghurts, fruits, cereals, different juices, sausage , bacon (not the usually soggy type!) and eggs or omelette cooked to order. Tea and Coffee available at numerous self serve points. The buffet style never looked scruffy or picked over and was constantly replenished. Table linen was always clean and not once did we experience the "not quite washed well enough" crockery or cutlery.

The pool area and grounds were immaculate and spacious. My initial concerns over the number of sunbeds was unfounded and should you find on first glance no spares either ask the Lifeguard or have a look in the indoor pool area, where you can either help yourself or ask a member of staff to move it for you. All the sun-loungers have their own head shade accessory and there are plenty of parasols should the sun become too much. Towels are available from the Spa on production of your ticket which you receive on check-in, and can be changed each day if that's your preference. The pools are many and varied and children are not permitted inflatables or to jump in.

The main Dining Restaurant wasn't personally to our taste, it lacked a certain "ambience" ...however a huge thank you to Agostino and Tamara for their exceptional service with a smile and for doing everything they could to enhance the dining experience. Dining in the Drops Restaurant was a "First Class Experience", the ambience and attention to detail of the service was amazing and a huge thank you to Alessandro, Tomasso and Manuel. The food was exquisitely presented, beautifully balanced and cooked to perfection. I would urge everyone to try Drops at least once during their stay. " I nostri complimenti per lo Chef "

We ate regularly at the pool bar and always received excellent service and food, though the choices may appear limited if you ate there every day. We enjoyed our post dinner drinks on the outside terrace each evening and again excellent service from Simone and his team.

Wi-Fi is available in the public areas for free, though you will struggle around the pool area, and there is half an hour complimentary each day. For a small fee you can enjoy your Wi-Fi wherever you chose in the Hotel, a maximum of 2 devices at a time. For example a 7 day option costs 20 Euro's.

Would I return to this Hotel? Without a doubt.
Would I recommend this Hotel? Without a doubt.

Un ringraziamento speciale per Lara. Siamo stati estremamente grati per quello che hai fatto e hai trasformato la nostra vacanza da molto bello assolutamente perfetto. Millie Grazie.

Room Tip: Ours overlooked the front of the Hotel and had beautiful views across and beyond.

Booked late with Expedia and checked hotel online. Photos looked a bit poor but we decided that hotel was only going to be our base to explore the area so didn't mind. However when we arrived we could not believe our eyes - the hotel was amazing. Very modern and well designed. Lovely room which was spotlessly clean and kept this way for the whole week. Amazing facilities which were easily accessible and never over-crowded. Lovely breakfast every day and fantastic evening meal on the one night we chose to pay to use the half-board restaurant.
Short easy walk to both the lake and the town centre
Staff very welcoming and helpful every time we spoke to them
We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends - if they can afford it! We didn't pay full price so feel we got an amazing deal - but also feel that full price is probably still worth what you get

Room Tip: We had comfort room - which is their basic and it was lovely

I have just returned from a fabulous four night stay at this hotel. The hotel is well located, with the lake and main town of Bardolino within easy walking distance. The hotel is modern with high standards of cleanliness. Our room faced towards the pool areas with a massive double bed - nice touch that the curtains were closed for us in the evening with chocolates left on the pillows. Staff welcomed us at reception on arrival with a glass of Prosecco. The room wasn't ready until 3pm but bags were stored for us and taken to our room later whilst we went off to explore. The hotel has numerous heated swimming pools to choose from and a great spa / sauna area. Pool Towels are changed once a day. Bardolino itself is a bustling town with a great atmosphere in the evenings and many restaurants and bars to choose from. A great hotel to which I will definitely return.

This is an excellent hotel with first class facilities. It's a short walk (5 mins) from Bardolino centre, which has fantastic shops and restaurants and great views of lake Garda itself.

Firstly when we arrived we were welcomed with drinks at reception which was a nice touch after a 5 hour drive, It had free underground parking (although my people carrier looked a little out f place between the Porches' and Ferrari's!) and had help from the porter with our numerous bags from car up to our room. They were in the room before we go there. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are spacious, huge beds, mini-bar and flat screen TV, Wi-Fi is free for half an hour per day, but after that there's a charge.

The bathroom is well equipt for a family of 4.. Clean white towels, a selection of various bottles of shower gels/shampoos,soaps, hair dryer, etc, plus bathrobes and slippers even for the children! The room was made up each day and later in the evening on our return from eating out we even found that the curtains would be closed, the air con set to cool, the clothes the kids had left on the floor tidied and a chocolate on each of our pillows. A nice touch, which especially pleased the children.

The swimming pools were amazing, all very warm with lots of jacuzzi's and a whirlpool which the children loved. The spa provided towels which you could change as and when you wanted.

The breakfast had a great variety on offer, everything you can imagine. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, cooked breakfasts, eggs cooked how you like while you wait and even cakes and doughnuts, which, although seemed a little wrong to eat in the morning I found too irresistible.

We had a great time at this hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for that bit of luxury.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room otherwise you'll just get a view of the neighbouring car park!

Just returned from 2 week family stay at Aqualux. Lovely, modern hotel set in beautiful grounds. Friendly and helpful staff.
Various pools and jacuzzis to choose from and impressive sauna/steam/spa area. Plenty of sun loungers and pool towels provided.
We stayed bed and breakfast, plenty of choice at breakfast, even for the kids!
Short walk into the beautiful town of Bardalino. Great selection of shops, bars, restaurants, ice cream parlours!
You can jump on a boat and visit other parts of scenic Lake Garda. Approx. 40 minute drive to Verona - well worth a visit, amazing place!
Would definitely recommend the Aqualux hotel and the town of Bardalino!
