We booked this as a one week half-board package via Crystal Ski. Said before by others, but yes the beds are hard, and this is a resort hotel, so beware there will be some noise. However, we arrived late in the morning, rooms were not all ready, but we were a party of 9, so had 4 rooms booked. After an early lunch, we had keys to 3 rooms and only had to wait another 10 minutes for the last one. The staff were polite and helpful, the food was palatable if not gourmet - a little bit samey but plenty of it. Rooms were clean, hotel bar a bit limited. Drink prices reasonable.
The hotel is ideally placed for the main chairlift up to the blue and red slopes above. Very easy to get around the town. Non-skiers took the train into Turin just over an hour away. 15 minute walk into the town or take the courtesy bus which also goes to Melezet and Jaffarau slopes.

Hotel - really nice, fairly chilled atmosphere. Recommend getting a balcony, even on lower floor you can still get a view of the mountain (obviously better on higher floors, so may be worth putting in an advance request). Room was big and well-maintained, cleaned everyday - small toiletries provided. Staff all very friendly.

Food - we were surprised by the high quality. Buffet entrée and dessert, starter and main is pre-selected at breakfast (choice of 3 of each). First night is more chaotic as orders are taken at the table. Breakfast is good, freshly baked croissants, meat, cheese, hot bacon and sausage, yoghurts etc.

Chair lifts - some really really long button/drag lifts which we avoided, chair lifts have no visas - so not as modern as some resorts.

Runs - good for families and intermediates, advanced skiers may be disappointed. Slopes are generally nice and wide, and other skiers generally respectful. Under 18s must wear helmet by law, and the runs with steep edges had good safety netting. Skiing right to hotel takes the hassle out of carrying ski gear very far (just down some stairs to the garage underneath hotel).

On-site facilities. Crystal use sport dain at hotel rive/campo smith. There are a couple of other rental shops too - we found dain cheapest. There's also a couple of bars/cafés and a creperia.

Spa - slightly abrupt staff at times, seems they claim money back from the hotel so they want to make sure you give them the right ticket for the gym or spa. Spa is nice, but could be better maintained, some lights out etc. bring your own flip flops, swimming cap and robe if you can - otherwise you'll need to buy a cap and flip flops (didn't seem like there were robes available).

Town - bigger than we expected, very friendly locals who all seem to be walking their dogs!

Snowcat - €15 for the one where you can have dinner (extra cost) at the top of Colomion. Tickets can be purchased opposite the train station in town. Trip is worth it if going to dinner, but not much can be seen during the trip itself- no view to the front. It goes up at 1730 from Campo Smith, by Cipo's bar/restaurant.

Train to Turin - €28 return, about 1.5 hrs each way, nice journey, nice town to spend the day for shopping and cafe culture. Trains left at 16mins past the hr and returned at 20 past the hr (except at 1718) - this was on a Monday

We stayed 1 night at Hotel rive in September 2013 (Low season) after some mistake on our gps routing.

We arrived around 20h and had the pleasure to be welcome by a nice staff speaking english and french.

We were a bit surprised to be charges 122 euro for 1 room + 2 dinners + breafast at that period of the year.

The hotel is clearly a ski hotel. It design smell the 80s and is a bit outdated.

The room was ok (clean, reasonable size, minibar, tv, internet free,....)
Beds are small (85 cm?)

Bathroom very good, with a confortable bath.

Dinner soso, a bit oily. Poor choice of vegetables (from tin can ?).
Breakfast desapointing.

Would be a great hotel at 60-70 euro but certainly not worth 100Euro / night during low season

Nice simple hotel that was right on the slopes. Only bad point was the acoustics, because you could hear your neighbours from the room. The town was a fifteen minute walk, which was good to burn all the pizza/pasta we had eaten, or there is a free shuttle bus every 15minutes should you wish not to walk.

We had a week's skiing here its not exactly ski in / ski out as advertised but close enough. The hotel lived up to its four star rating for location, rooms, service and amenities, only grumble would be the food took a little getting used too and you had to be selective in what you chose, but have eaten alot worse in other places. The beds were uncomfortably hard but after a days skiing you can usually sleep any where. We had a couple of beginners with us who didn't progress on to the slopes proper but still had to pay for a full ski pass to use the drag lift on the nursery slopes, bit costly as free in other resorts. On the whole good resort with good skiing and very friendly people would consider going again :-)

Amazing room with views, great food with wide variety, nice clean rooms and comfy bed!!! (although we like firm beds) also had a balcony. Literally 50 yards from the ski lift and ski school. Staff friendly and helpful, with most après ski events from the bar opposite. Sauna also close and free to hotel guests, although no jacuzzi

Downsides- the rooms were very hot but that may be because we couldn't work the thermostat, so we opened the balcony instead. It was noisy outside which was fine for us but can appreciate that may annoy others. The shower doors weren't great and flooded the bathroom each time

It wasn't the best slopes for first time boarders but we had a lot of fun and would recommend the hotel to our skiing friends

I stayed at the hotel at the end of Feb with my son (aged 15) and my mother..
The hotel is in a great position, right on the slopes. We were lucky and had a room that looked towards the ski runs and the views were fantastic.
The room itself was very comfortable. Good size, nice bathroom, plasma tv with some English channels. However, as previously mentioned, the beds were rock hard!
We stayed on a half board basis and we all thought that the food was fantastic. 4 courses, 2 of which you can pre choose at breakfast, usually a fish, 2 meat and a veggie option.
Breakfast was buffet, with continental and also bacon and eggs etc.
We had free use of the spa which was also good...small pool, sauna, steam rooms etc and free use of the gym too.
We travelled with Crystal and have to say that the reps were the worst we've ever encountered! My mum broke her knee towards the end of the holiday and if it had not been for the excellent hotel staff, she would have been deserted! The hotel arranged everything for her....The reps, despite us leaving messages and texts, did not once contact her (even to see how she was feeling)
The ski slopes are quite limited but we are early and mid intermediates, so they were good for us. We also had a good dumping of snow mid week, which was great!
The ski instructors were also very good with well spoken English.
All in all, despite my mothers' accident, we had a really good week and would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
