Owner description: This marvelous bridge made in wood, named Ponte Degli Alpini, is dated from 1209, although it was rebuilt some times along the centuries. It is also called Ponte Vecchio, and the view one can enjoy from it, over the Brenta river and facing the Alpes during the Winter, is simply great !

The wood bridge is a great place to take pictures and enjoy the view of the river. You can also stop at the grappa museum near the bridge which is a highly informative experience -- not to mention tasting the different types of grappa they have to sell later. When crossing the bridge, look at the back wall of the houses on the river to see bullet holes from a battle. The town also is very nice to walk through and has many historical points of interest. About 10 minutes away is the town of Marostica, a small enclosed city which is also interesting so you can do both places in a day. The price of food in Bassano is very reasonable and it is good.

It's a town for townies. You get the feeling that the decorated houses, the cafe's in the squares, the streets lined with shops are there for the people who live there. Tourists welcome, but if they live up the quality of life of the place. We visited on a gorgeous, sunny day and everything was just perfect. Small enough to walk around with easy, phenomenal views of the river from high up, a sense that history is not for show but for living it. Lucky the Bassanesi.

We visited this small town in 2007 and also visited some friends I made through the hospitality club, this small town is very clean, very pretty and very friendly folks around here. super SAFE during the day and at night. We took a couple of trips to Venece which this is a perfect place to stay at a reduce rate in a hotel and visit Venice during the day, here you will avoid the crowds of Venece, the high prices and will be resting peacefully at night in your hotel room. Highly recommended to stop here for a couple of days.

The must-see view. Bassano is a great day trip from Venice, and stopping for a grappa or beer on the bridge is a must.

We went to Bassano Del Grappa for a dancing competition but we had some time to visit the city and it was worth it!This kind of wood alpini bridge can be found in many cities, like Lucerne in Switzerland. But this one didn't have so many tourists and we could have some great photos...And the small wine store at the entrance of it is excactly what you need to fight the freezing cold!!!!!
