In my opinion at this hotel, you are paying for a sweeping views of the mountains, a large and comfortable bed and fancy breakfast. Nothing else was particularly outstanding - fancy appearance on the outside, but I've seen similar rooms (and much more spacious bathrooms) at a Premier Inn or Holiday Inn for half the price. We arrived into Belluno just after dark and unfortunately hadn't researched our accomodation beforehand - we drove all over the place using the "find hotel" function on our new satnav to locate a place to stay and came up emptyhanded several times before we finally found the Villa Carpenada Park Hotel, so although it was a bit more than we wanted to pay, we were grateful to find a clean, comfortable room. We had absolutely no complaints and were very impressed by the breakfast compared to others we had in Italy - there was many continental options available, as well as hot breakfast offered. Would recommend to others, but beware of the price and perhaps do some research on better value accomodation in Belluno if you have time.

Room Tip: Get a room on the South side - beautiful views!

Stayed here on business for two nights in July, get a second floor room facing the valley to get outstanding views....witnessed an electrical storm rolling down the valley, amazing.

Hotel maintains the family feel, good food, good location

Room Tip: Get a room facing towards the village

Though it's in an unusual location -- in Belluno proper but about two miles outside the historic center, right near a city park, and in the midst of a densely packed neighborhood of well-kept private homes -- the Carpenada is still a great place to stay. Because it's away from all of the hubbub in the overly commercial downtown, it's a peaceful spot for relaxing and unwinding. Also, there are some great views from the hotel out to the surrounding mountains.

The best part about our stay was the service -- right up there with some of the best service we've ever experienced at a hotel. The staff member who was on duty when we arrived, Roberto, could not do enough for us. In addition to making us a welcome cappuccino (which, to be honest, was only so-so), he insisted on hoisting our bags on his shoulders and bringing them up to our room, and he always looked after us during our meals in the hotel's lovely dining room. While other staff couldn't match Roberto's energy and flair, they still provided excellent advice and assistance.

Our room was also terrific -- we had the "honeymoon suite" with a sleigh bed and a very large marble bathroom and a good sized jaccuzzi tub (in addition to the shower). We've rarely had a room as large as this one!

The food was also great and (especially at lunch and dinner) inventive. Everything we had -- cheeses, salads, tortelli with pear and marjoram and goat cheese, grilled tuna, grilled branzino -- was of excellent quality. We're not sure if this is always the case, but we got complementary glasses of prosecco with each of our meals. Also, we had a delicious Belluno specialty dessert featuring corn, dried fruits, cream, and apricot marmelade one night and a fabulous tiramisu another night. As we wrote in our journal, we couldn't get over our good fortune at being able to stay in such a place where we lacked for nothing!

If we were to return to the Belluno area, we would gladly stay at the Carpenada!

Room Tip: Ask for the honeymoon suite -- it's spacious and lovely and has an especially nice (and very large) bathroom!

Pro: beautiful location near the hospital, a lot of parking space, friendly staff, good quality of products ordered at the bar and delicious croissant at breakfast. Nice suggestive atmosphere of the rooms and rest of the hotel, old building in good state. Comfortable bed.

Con: small bathroom, showering led to water pouring into the bedroom.

We booked this hotel because it was near a location we were to have a big meeting, but we never expected such luxury for the price! We arrived late from the train station and were treated to an outstanding light meal of prosecco, antipasto, and risotto ai funghi porcini. The morning breakfast (included) was an abundant and varied buffet. The room was modern and very comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't know about the higher priced rooms in the villa proper, but our rooms in the back were outstanding.
