“Beautiful Location, Good Accomodation and Excellent Host”
Reviewed 19 September 2010

I have stayed here twice and thoroughly recommend it if you desire a peaceful holiday with stunning views of the Mugello Valley.

The accomodation is suitable for couples or larger groups and is nicely spaced around the site. There is an excellent pool and the general ambience of the site is very calm and peaceful.

Raphaele is an excellent host who does not intrude but is very helpful if called upon to assist - a friend of mine had quite severe toothache and Raphaele called the local dentists and arranged an emergency visit for us, something which would have been difficult as we are not fluent in Italian.

This agriturisimo is in an absolutely gorgeous area of Tuscany. Accomomdation is typical Tuscan, The owner Raffeale and his staff are extremely friendy and provide a high quality of service to all their customers. The weekly meal available is well worth attending and is real value for money, it is held in what was the old winary and allows you to meet other customers of different nationalities. The meal is prepared and cooked by Amanda and has 5 courses of (exceptional Tuscan ingredients all grown on the Agriturisimo), which is situated within easy reach of Florence and Pisa.

We have now had 3 holidays here and intend to return again next year, we flew from Newcastle to Pisa hiring a car at the airport. The travel time is approximately 1hr and 30 minutes Pisa airport.

Raffaelle - Look forward to seeing you again next year Barbara and Ronaldo

My girlfriend and I had a very memorable week at Poggio alle Ville,
It's a beautiful spot that manages to tread the line between being remote enough that you can really relax but near to the major city sites (we did Sienna and Florence on the trip - both very doable in a day).

Raffaele made us feel very welcome and was able to organise everything we needed - the meal Amanda cooked for us was one of the best we've eaten in Italy (the tirimisu was the best we've ever had and is worth the trip alone).

The pool was great, the accomadation very comfortable and we were very sad indeed to leave.

We'll definitely be back next year and probably every year after that.

Poggio Alle Ville is simply perfect

We have stayed in the large villa several times with a large group of friends. There are cottages on the property for smaller groups. We usually have around 16 people and are very comfortable. The setting is gorgeous, the house is spacious and has a wonderful feeling of openness, and the owner (Raffaele) is one of the nicest people you'll meet. If you want an incredible Italian feast, just ask - you will not be disappointed! If you are cooking for yourself, you'll find everything you need in the well-appointed kitchen. If you want to leave the idyllic house and grounds, within easy driving distance are interesting towns to visit, great hikes in the mountains, castles with wine-tasting tours, etc. We can't recommend this place highly enough.

A truly magical week! A piece of relaxing paradise. While the town or Borgo is nothing too exciting at all, this hidden gem made us feel we were miles away from any form of stress of the modern world. The owner is so warm and welcoming and his staff all feel like family. The house had everything we needed and nothing more--was just fab. Such character, felt very special to stay there. There is a great swimming pool and boules court and ping pong and other simple set ups for games. We did the cookery class and ate with them two of our nights there, which was a treat! the other nights we took advantage of the fab outdoor bbq set up and private dining area and then discovered a delicious local restaurant for our last night. It was just a perfect place to disconnect from the world and tap into nature and our family. we have been raving to everyone about this place and look forward to going back!

We enjoyed our family vacation with our 2 little kids a lot. The pool is clean and big, the outdoor very charming and maintained with a lot of love, very quiet and peaceful, the sitting and BBQ possibilities shaded and romantic, and Raffaele the owner is very helpful. We were able to really disconnect. We stayed much more at home than we wanted at first just because it was so cosy. The kitchens are well equipped and we loved to have dinner and lunch outdoors. The only disadvantage is that the closest city which is Borgo San Lorenzo is not so great. A regular italien city I guess but not with a lot of tuscan charm - but almost no turists. We also thought that Florence would be closer but it takes 50min to the city center. The appartments are not the most modern ones but clean and in a very nice setting. This was once an old farm and not a modern building. We appreciate that Raffaele keeps the character of the building and nice details from old times. We lived in appartment Menghina which is on the ground floor so it is really nice and cool because of the thick brick walls.

After the chaos of Italian cities this is a splendid place to relax and explore the beautiful towns and countryside of Tuscany. A car is almost essential, the road in is rough but not challenging, an ordinary little hire car has no problems. Self catering is easy, 7 day supermarket (Conad) is within 10kms. Points of interest are limited only by your imagination. Great wine and reasonably priced. Owner/operator a very pleasant and helpful gentleman. Ask for precise directions from Borgo San Lorenzo before you go. We loved it.
