OK...If you are going to the trouble and expense of traveling to Italy, why stay in America? The little Italian hotels are wonderful and this one, Nuovo Hotel Giardini, is one of the best we stayed in during our trip. It is family owned and operated and they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. They provide breakfast but we overslept and missed it one day but they saved us some pastries and made sure we got our coffee and juice....they knew we would be there eventually. The place is very laid back and we needed to relax for a couple days so it was a good match. The rooms are cozy but with nice bathrooms and you won't spend much time in your room anyway.
Prices were reasonable and about the same as other places we stayed. There is a public garden/park next door and several restaurants on the piazza. Save room for a grappa when you get back to the hotel...they have a little bar.
The town of Bra is small enough that you can walk anywhere and this hotel is a good home base. They did provide us with a taxi ride once and also took us to the train station when we left. Bra has a weekly Apertivo night when the town has sort of a prolonged "Happy Hour" and also a large farmer's market. There is always plenty of local wine and food to sample. Bra is where the "Slow Food Movement" started so food is important.
