“Nice italian mountain hotel”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

It was my first stay at this hotel and I was quiet happy there.Mostly Italians who took their ferragosta vacation, nice staff , good breakfast and a really nice owner couple added to my comfort.I would choose this hotel again. Town center is a3min walk away so you can indulge in the good wines they offer all over the place. Mountaineering in the aerea is world famous and for all ranks of sportsmen, so bring your climbing or walking equipment

Room Tip: second floor rooms have balconies

We stayed in an apartment owned by the Hotel Azola which is just behind the hotel, in the Cesar Lamar building. The apartment was huge and excellent value for money. It was spotlessly clean. The hotel were very helpful - they were happy for us to use the sauna as the hotel was quiet. They also offered the use of the hotel shuttle bus. However the local ski bus is excellent and the bus stop just a short walk away on the main road. Canazei is a lovely town with plenty of shops to explore in the evening after skiing. We would definitely stay at this hotel or in the apartment again. The family who ran the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

I had read reviews and choose this hotel. The desk people, who were part of the family, weren't very friendly and it was hard to find them available. Food good. Cleanliness perfect. Dining room very small. Tables almost on top of each other. Small the common reception area and few places to sit meaning that you are almost forced to stay in your room. Door closes at 11 p.m. Breakfast not served after 9. Missed having a swimming pool after long day of trekking. There are so many beautiful new hotels in Canazei that I will choose another one next time.

A large group of us (16) travelled from the UK to stay in Canazei for a week's spring skiing. We stayed at the Hotle Azola, a small 3 star hotel, about 400m from the centre of town & 800m from the ski lifts . We chose it because of the price and the fact that they had a steam room and sauna. With the end of season Dolomite deal (7 nights stay for price of 6 and 6 day ski pass for price of 5) the nightly half board rate was around Euros 49 per night per person.
The Hotel is family run and has been for many years and the service is excellent. they work really hard. It has a small freindly bar where drinks are reasonable and someone is there to serve until the last person goes to bed. The rooms are not enormous but they're fine and kept very clean (ours had a bath, I'm over 6 foot and i could stretch out in it), and most of them have a balcony with a chair.
The food was a revalation. the chef produced great local food every night( particularly impressive when you consider the daily rate). There's a help yourself salad bar to start with then normally 3 choices of first course (normally pasta, risotto, gnochi or soup) followed by 3 choices of main course and 5 or so puddings. On Easter sunday the chef put together a 4 course meal which was absolutely excellent and better than many meals i've eaten in good london restauarnts.
On the logisics of getting to the ski lift the hotel has its own mini bus that will take you to and from the lifts(you can store skis etc at the hire shops at the base of the lift so you don't have to cart them about) but it's only a 10-15 min walk through the pretty town back to the hotel anyway.
Emanuella and her team run a great little hotel which when you consider the price, service , food etc is excellent value for money.
