Review of Hotel Stabia

I went with Saga. Nice room 518 with extra paid for sea view. Note it is not possible to sit on the balcony but the view is wonderful. Note that the shower cubicle in this room is tiny. Very pleasant staff and a nice bar but the food was not up to standard. We were served tinned vegetables on more than one occasion. Also oven baked potatoes without sauce or even water were really tasteless and inedible. Chicken was served dry without sauce. The quality of the food was not the problem - it was the unimaginative and uncaring way it was cooked. Nothing had any flavour and the food lacked salt. There was no salt on the tables. The pasta served as the first course was a bit better than the main course, but again lacked flavour and interest. The wine was welcome but perhaps it would be better to spend a bit more on the food. Breakfast was monotonous but better than the evening meal. The hotel is conveniently situated on the sea front but this is a working town rather than a resort. The train station is about 10 minutes' walk and the Saga trips, of which there were two a week, were on the train, so it was necessary to walk to it and then up some steps so not suitable for some guests. Late nights and early morning noise was offputting in the corridors, so it is advisable to take ear plugs.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a sea view even though it is more costly. The street side of the hotel is...

We stayed in this hotel as part of a Saga group holiday. The hotel has large bedrooms, good community rooms and a splendid dining area overlooking the Bay of Naples. Our room could have done with some drawers but the beds were comfortable and the facilities well equiped. On the negative side our main grumble was with the evening dinner. The hotel did not cope very well for vegetarians even though we informed them before our visit. There were lots of restaurants, cafes and bars in the surrounding area and a long promenade is at the front of the hotel. It was not possible to sleep with the window open due to traffic noise.

Room tip: Rooms overlooking the Bay of Naples if you can

My sister and I stayed here in December and had a great experience. Analise (I cant remember her name at the front desk) and everyone in the hotel was AWESOME!!! We will definitely be back. We had a great room with a deck and a beautiful view of Vesuvius.

Only bad thing about place is there is no parking. They do have a lot a couple blocks from the hotel and that was fine but parking is a premium there.

Very clean and beautiful hotel with very nice staff.

This hotel is very close to the train and bus station which allows you to easily visit nearby Sorrento, Positano, Capri, and Naples.

The staff at this hotel was incredibly friendly and spoke good English. Catello and Carmine made sure breakfast was enjoyable and entertaining.

In addition, the local area has wonderful stores and well priced food.

Excellent hotel with character. Very helpful and friendly staff. Fantastic rooftop bar with open terrace affording views of the Bay of Naples, Mt Vesuvius with great sunsets over Ischia. 5-10 mins easy walk to Circumvesuviana rail station (direct trains to Sorrento, Naples and Pompeii). Plenty of shopping and good quality restaurants close by. Only downside is local beach is not the best but Sorrento is only 20 mins away by low cost train. Hotel also has a range of trips available.

The town does not look promising but once we reached the central, it acquired a quaint atmosphere. Stabia adds to this. First built in 1876, it has all the period trappings with modern conveniences. Rooms were big and clean, each opening to an airy corridor wrapped around a large airwell. Don't miss drinks at the terrace for fantastic sunsets and views of Vesuvius. As we're travelling with Trafalgar, we had dinners here. Very good food!
