Reviewed 3 weeks ago

If you are near Castellammare di Stabia you can reach funicular. In a few minutes from the Tirenian sea to mountin of Faito by cable car, wich was open from april ,with excelent views .A change from high temperature to remember the cold sensation for those who like to go in the forest. There is also a road for cars.Ticket return is 8 euros.

We had no idea this place existed and we had done some research before our trip. On arrival to Italy, we were on the circumversuviana train towards Sorrento, and we spotted the station. We did some searching online and found out more about it.
There is still lots of work going on at both stations, but the cable car is working and worth a trip.
The views as you start the climb are amazing. In all directions, it is incredible to see the greenery and the houses. You can see across to Naples and out to sea.
At the top there is a nice cafe. We had drinks and were brought a small selection of nibbles too.
It would be nice if there were places at the top that you could get to and enjoy the view, but at the moment, this is not possible.
We loved it and have some stunning photos.

We stumbled across the Funicular (cable car) ride up to the top of Mount Faito by accident. This is a hidden gem near Vico Equense that should really be advertised much better. The terminals are currently undergoing some renovations, but it is up and running. 3-4 hours is plenty of time to journey to the top, stroll around the peak then grab a drink and the best Panini from the restaurant. A sweet lady waited on us and I think she was the cook too. While relaxing at the cafe a Vicar and group of boys came up to the common area for a makeshift game of soccer, which added to the charm of this journey. Breathtaking views going both ways, so take your cameras!

The Funivia is a little hard to find but it's worth a trip up the mountain, It's much cooler at the top - not much near the Monte Faito station other than a restaurant.

I can’t recommend highly enough. We caught the train from Sorrento - it’s only about €4 return, the cable car station in metres from the train station and costs just €8 return. It takes you up to the top of the mountain. The best views are on the right of the cable car if you can bag the best spot. The cars run roughly every 25-30 minutes but clearly on Italian time! The journey takes about 10 minutes. You then have choices at the top. We started by turning right and strolled through some woods...there’s amazing views and a lovely cafe with view spots. We then walked up the road from there and rejoined near the cable car station then took the other route. There are loads of signposted walks although no maps to hand. We took a photo on our phones as one but managed to follow the red way markers with no issues up to a church with incredible views. It is cooler up there but not cold. We were wearing shorts and t-shirts on 1st June. We went to the coast the day before - it was really busy and super hot so we enjoyed this all the more. Generally we were on our own or only saw a few couples walking around. It was bliss! For the price and views you can’t beat it.
