I first visited Camping Villa al Mare in 1989 when I used to take coach groups camping in Italy from the UK. Last year, having retired from the travel industry, I went back to Villa al Mare after a few years while I was traveling around Europe. This time I was there as a paying customer and spent 3 weeks camping on the site. I have to say, apart from normal modifications providing modern facilities; the place had the same happy, relaxed atmosphere I remember. The site is kept clean and tidy and the staff were warm and friendly.
The site is not huge in size compared to many of the site that run down the coastline from Cavallino to Punta Sabbioni but that’s what makes it very special. The staff get to know their guests, the place is family owned and family run. There is a very cosy community feeling around the site.
On site there is a small supermarket which sells fresh food daily and has a good selection of local produce and a small shop selling newspapers, bucket and spades, bats and balls etc. There is a good bar and restaurant which serves everything from a breakfast coffee to a nightcap after a lovely evening meal served to you as you gaze out over the fantastic Adriatic Sea. The reception at the entrance of the site keeps the place safe and secure 24/7 and the staff located there has a wealth of local knowledge. The crowning jewel of Villa al Mare must be its location right next to the private sandy beach where you have no problem relaxing during the day. You can hire beach service or simply find a spot for you and your family to stretch out and enjoy the sun. The sea is warm and clear and it’s quite safe to swim and have fun in (always stay safe of course). You can hire pedal boats, join in with some organised games or buy a delicious icecream from the beachbar.
The location of Camping Villa al Mare couldn’t be better. It is on a regular bus route that runs between the lively Lido di Jesolo and Punta Sabbioni from where it is easy to get to Venice by ferry straight into St Marks Square. If you like you can hire a bicycle from reception and explore the area by yourself.
In summary Camping Villa al Mare is a wonderful place to stay with your family, as a couple or a solo traveller. It is nice to meet up with old friends who return year after year and newcomers are welcomed and made to feel part of the family which is truly Villa al Mare!
