We returned home just yesterday (26th November) and are already looking to book again for next year! The location is perfect (we hired a car) as it is situated just outside of Cefalu. The setting is fantastic, our apartment veranda facing out over the sea and nestled in a rustic and attractive garden. The breakfast was more like a morning banquet and is served in the beautiful terrace below.! Yolander is a wonderful, friendly and helpful host. As noted by others, the entrance is a little difficult to find in the dark when you first arrive but the sat-nav coordinates are spot on (or look for the 183 mile marker) and then a sharp turn directly uphill. A little unnerving when pulling out back onto the road but so is any kind of driving in Italy! In our travels to over 15 countries this bed and breakfast has shot up my list as one of my all time favourites and we very much look forward to staying here again.

This is a fantastic place to visit Cefalù and its surroundings and not being involved in the hustle of the touristic streets of the village. Obviously if you are a shopping fan, maybe is better to get another accomodation in the village.

But for those that, after a beach day, a shopping day or an excursion day in the fantastic Parco Naturale Regionale delle Madonie (very worthy spending one day there), wants relax, silence and fantastic views over the sea this is a very good place.

The owner, as she got some free rooms during these days, offers us to choice between a more common room or a bungalow. We choose that one, for the freedom it gives to you, and because the are quite big and spacious. And of course, because they have the most beautiful views over the sea.

Breakfast is quite good, not being spectacular, but has some good fruits, and homemade tarts.

Wifi is only accessible near the main building.

The owner can give you all the recommendations you ask, and give you a perfect attention in all the problems or needs you may have.

The main problem of this accomodation is the access to it. It's only accessible by road coming from Cefalù (in the other direction will be a suicide trying to get the way to the accomodation). It's better go to Cefalù and then go back for the same road. Of course, when you go out of the B&B road is always quite difficult for the lack of visibility.

After an overnight ferry from Naples, and the rather abrupt entry into Palermo, we weren't in the best of sorts to receive Sicily with open arms, but any doubts were quickly diminished once we found ourselves turning off the road into Mare Blu. We had made a mistake in our planning and forgot to provide a deposit, but Yolanda was quick to offer us the same room at the price we had negotiated earlier, and we soon found ourselves standing on the porch of one of the lovely chalets overlooking the blazing blue Mare Isola Eolie surrounded by olive and apricot trees and perfect quiet.
We quickly unpacked, ran into town for groceries, and returned to rest on the secluded beach just below the property. Most beaches in the area were quite busy, but there was nowhere for passerby's to park at this beach so it was only convenient for guests at Mare Blu. The beach was a tiny little pebble beach surrounded by huge smooth white boulders and crystal clear water. Such a wonderful respite.
That night, we prepared our first homemade meal during our vacation in the cozy kitchen facilities and shared a lovely meal under a sky full of stars.
Breakfast in the outdoor kitchen was excellent with delicious local ingredients and confections. Ample parking, beautiful scenery, perfect location just a few minutes away from downtown Cefalù, friendly hosts, and tidy rooms made this stay one of the most memorable on our tour through Italy.

Room Tip: Opt for a chalet. It was just my wife and I, but for what you're getting, the additional cost is almost negligible. The chalets all have views facing the sea and are a ways away from the main grounds whereas the normal rooms are hidden away behind the kitchen area and main house where you won't have the privacy and views you might be looking for in such a lovely location.

It is possible to drive in Sicily, as long as you're prepared to share the streets and lanes with Italians who think they are Michael Schumacher. But it is almost impossible to find a park in Sicily, especially the highly picturesque town of Cefalu. So, if you are driving to Cefalu and you want the perfect place to park your car and sleep in total comfort and privacy with expansive sea views, peace and quiet, and the most generous breakfast on the island - book in to Mareblu. This haven is only 3 kms out of Cefalu on the coast road (SS113) to Messina. The facilities - individual bungalows set among ancient olive trees - are spacious with separate bedroom and kitchen/living room with everything you could need. It has wifi in the outdoor dining area (not in the room) and air conditioning, plus it is very affordable. The hosts, Yolanda and Roberto, are very friendly and helpful when you need them, but not intrusive. Yolanda speaks English. If we'd known how good it was before we got there - we would have booked for longer! Much longer. The only issue is finding the driveway entrance off the SS113 from Cefalu. It is almost exactly at the 183 km sign, around a right hand curve. Don't miss it. The driveway is a bit of a challenge, but no more than many other Sicilian one lane roads.

Not sure why Mare Blu is rated so highly on TripAdvisor. While the place was clean and Yolanda and Roberto were hospitable and helpful, our ground floor room was quite dismal.

We travel quite a bit and expect a certain amount of disheveled charm from B&Bs, however, this room not only lacked charm, it was dark and uncomfortable with nowhere to sit but on the bed or in a plastic chair. The bedroom and bath are immediately inside the front door and the windows are exposed to guests walking to the outdoor breakfast area. There were two small windowless niches at the end of the short corridor which led from the door to the back of the room each of which had one twin bed, so if you are travelling with children, Mare Blu would be a good value. For us as a couple, the beds provided a place to keep luggage as the bedroom was too small to accommodate our bags. The very basic wardrobe had a bar which was too high to reach.

Lighting was sufficiently inadequate as to prevent reading in bed. Breakfast, which we typically are indifferent to as we prefer to save our calories for lunch or dinner when we travel, was quite basic.

Location is a short drive to Cefalu, however the access road off SS18 is treacherous, especially at night. It angles sharply from the main road, is not paved, curves up to the house and is only wide enough for one car, so arriving at night or returning from dinner is challenging. We are not timid drivers having maneuvered the Amalfi Coast last year, and having driven in both Palermo and Naples.

Wish we could post a more enthusiastic review as both Yolanda and Roberto were very helpful with restaurant and sightseeing suggestions (including recommending a short drive to Castelbuono which was wonderful), however the shortcomings of our room were too much to overcome. Perhaps one of the higher rooms with a sea view would be more comfortable and commodious.
