I spent a week with a friend at the Ark in the apartment La Mimosa. It was delightful - the interior was basic but clean & comfortable and everything worked. The view from the terrace was amazing - only gets sun in the morning & early afternoon so was a little chilly in the evening but the view was so good it was worth putting a fleece on. Marjolein lives on site so is always available for advice & her son sorted out my wif-fi problems. Since the apartments are inter-linked, you have to walk across someone else's patio to get to your own or to the (small but very deep) pool - not a problem for us but if it was very busy and/or there were noisy children it might be less appealing. Two notes of caution - buy water to take with you as the tap water is ok for making tea but not for drinking (and there are no shops nearby) and hire the smallest (or most powerful) car you can - the hill is the steepest I have every driven up! Also, I suspect it would be quite difficult to find for the first time in the dark. But, for adults who want a quiet holiday with easy access to the north of Sicily (even to Agrigento it's less than 3 hours drive), it's perfect. I'd definitely go back.

We are here again for the second year in a row. Now with our son of 1 year old. He had a fantastic time. He played in a bath with an amazing view (see pictures). He loved the beach.
We decided to go again to L'Arca because it is value for your money. The apartments are extremely good for the price you
pay. Ofcourse it is not a 5 star hotel, but the price isn't either.
We enjoyed our stay!

Fantastic views, brilliant value for money and a great base for exploring the north of the island. Accommodation was basic but comfortable and the view was to die for - great terrace to enjoy it from. We almost booked Taormina - having checked it out we preferred Cefalu, which felt less touristy but still had everything you could want including a great beach, plenty of great restaurants. You do need a car, preferably a small one as roads are tight in places, we used a smart car. Loved the family feel with the cats and dogs checking us out(even if the dogs did bark at night in the surrounding neighbourhood) unobtrusive but friendly. Would recommend a trip to castellbuono to try the cakes at Fiasconaria, and the aeolian islands, for a nice boat trip on a hot day.
Cefalu has a great restaurant - porticcolio in the old town- beautiful service and food.
We even had use of a pool when it got too warm to just laze around.
Thank you to Marjolein and family for a lovely stay.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of June and it was a perfect place to stay for us as a family (2 adults and 3 children) The apartment (la mimosa) was perfect for us. There was a lovely pool to keep the kids entertained and the views are breathtaking.
You will need a car though as it is a bit away from the main town bit and quite steep to get to. We got a bit lost on the way there, but it took just a quick phone call and someone came to meet us in the village. Marjolein and her family were so welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely stay there, although the beach in Cefalu was not our favorite and we did not like all the dog barking in the area during the night (was quite annoying at some time) we would and hope to stay at L'arca again and can only recommend it.

Room Tip: La Mimosa is perfect for a family.

Dont get me wrong - thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here, but it comes with a couple of minus points
Positive - Superb location and breathtaking views. Beautiful private terraces with each apartment.
Very welcoming owner and variety of pets !!
Negative - Very difficult drive up to the property and not really practical to walk to and from town
Apartment ( and this might only apply to ours ) was very dated - odds and ends of furniture etc. Lots of noisy dogs in the area at night

Worth every penny for the location. just needs some TLC
