“Great service, amazing view and peaceful location (but near Cefalù)”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

We have stayed two years in a row two weeks in Cefalù and hotel Kalura. The hotel is just great place to stay and just to relax. The staff in the hotel is friendly and really trying all to make you feel good and happy. Specially Angelo and other restaurant and bar staff. We are still every now and then talking about them.

Rooms are clean and both times we have had a room with two bedrooms (one king size bed and two separate beds for kids). We have stayed in a room which has a stunning view to Mediterranean sea.

You have to climb down to get yourself to the beach, but it just make the beach peaceful. The water is very clear and it's perfect place to snorkel.

Almost forget. The swimming pool is big and the water is warm. You can play table tennis besid the pool and near the pool is football field, basket ball possibility and also tennis court (all in one place).

Definately going back there again some day. Hopefully soon! My favourite place in Italy!

we enjpoyed this place very much - easy to go to the sea, excellent beach, fantastic pool area with a view over the medieval castle on the rock, our room were fantastic (studio).

We and our 4,8 year old kids enjoyed.

Nice staff.

Great with good bikes available for rent in the hotell, many great trips in the neighbourhood - conventient early mornings when the family sleeps, or just going biking.

Good food. (not marvellous. Menyu a little thin for longer stays, we stayed ten days)
Fantastic terrace. '

wifi soso in our room, but worked on the balcony and common areas)

Many Germans, Swedes, Scandinavians.

MINUS: people smoke on the terrace, even when they have breakfast or food. There are no designated smoking areas, so people smoke in the pool area, on the beach as well. Totally 19th century and disgusting. I just presume they are going to fix this. Not a huge issue, not many North Europeans smoke, but still a real downer

Room Tip: studios are magificient, but also sea view in general. apartments very nice, but no A/C

We stayed 10 days in Studio Vulcano at the hotel in July. Wonderful seaview from studio. clean large room with small kitchen. Perfect space for 2 adults and 2 children (8+4 years) restaurant situated on terass overlooking sea where we had great breakfast nothing missing. Local products (all different cheeces, salami, vegetables) different croissants, baguettes, youghurt, really good coffee. Very nice food for lunch and dinner. Fantastic gelato (icecream) in the bar. Really good servicelevel. Poolside with large enough pool for swimming excercise and a smaller for kids. Own beachside 2 minutes downstaircase. Really good bikes for rent. Everything very close and convinient for family with kids. Small shop close to hotel selling basics. In July lot of Nordic families visiting. A quiet place even with families visiting. 20 minutes walking to Cefalu towncentre. We would definately come back again.

My husband and I were extremely lucky to be staying in a idyllic "heavenly place on earth " hidden away in the Sicilian mountains for two weeks. After hiring a car, we were informed of the beautiful coast line and beach's of Cafalu. So we traveled the hour and a half ....and guess what, they were right. Cafalu is so worth a visit, the beach's are clean, the sea is so blue and warm. The town itself is sweet...little streets and cobble stones filled with quirky shops. We couldn't see all in a day visit....so we decided to stay and booked a two night stay into Hotel Kalura. The rooms are very clean and modern.."we were lucky enough to get a sea view" so sitting out on our deck chairs on an evening enjoying a night cap, listening to the waves was just perfect. The hotel has it's own private beach which is lovely but no sand tho...need rubber swimming shoes to get in and out from the sea.."hard on the feet" the main beach is so much better. Food was great, good choice. Bar man is "crazy" very funny and friendly. Don't think I could have stayed for two weeks, but that only because I wanted to get back to our beautiful find in the mountains as hotel Kalura wasn't as quiet...great for a break...would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, just perfect on an evening.

This hotel has perhaps the best spot in Cefalu - it's own private beach and bathing platform, perfect rooms overlooking a 360deg view of the Mediterranean and great services.

It is worth the stay for those things alone, particularly if you want to avoid the (significant) beach crowds during summer.

The food is also wonderful.

It is just a short walk to the main township of Cefalu (and is dotted with restaurants on the way).

I should also mention that the rooms themselves are not amazing, and the beds certainly not great. Hotel staff were not overly friendly and when we asked for a quote on a small bag of washing and were told €50 we said no thanks. They went ahead and did it anyway and tried to charge us the full €50.

Apart from that small mis-hap out stay was great.

Very child-friendly (perhaps not quite so 'couples' friendly).

Overall an average hotel in an amazing setting.

We came here following lonely planet suggestion thinking it was the typical international style big hotel but this is much more than this. It's like a beautiful resort where you can find everything in a high level service and quality. Price in June is good enough!

Stayed with 10 friends (5 couples) and had a great time. We booked adjacent Superior Sea View rooms which were lovely with huge balconies, perfect for meeting up with our group for pre dinner drinks and enjoying the stunning views. Beautiful views from the terrace in front of the restaurant where we had breakfast and lunch. All food including dinner in the restaurant was delicious. Lovely bar staff, excellent pool, amazing facilities and style in what is graded a 3 star hotel. We loved it!
