If we had read any negative reviews about this hotel before we went we would not have bothered but i'm so glad we stayed here. We stayed for 14 days. We requested a sea view and that is what we got. The room was typical Italian, pretty and clean. The best part of the Hotel was discovering the roof terrace with its views of La Rocca. We would buy food and go up and have picnics watching the sunset. Cefalu is beautiful!!!!! The private beach is a walk away but worth it. The hotel staff are nice and helpful. The food is great with diner served in the pretty garden. The pool side is lovely. Our memories of staying here are really good so don't be put off by the negative. Its not 5-star but it is great for a getaway to sicily. The bus service is typical Italian - relaxed and they'll get there when they get there - but it does eventually and goes straight into the town.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Beautiful gardens and public rooms, very comfortable atmosphere. Minus side - Bed Room small and dark as window tucked away down short "corridor", bathroom v small, if you sat on the loo your knees were on the bidet! Only room for one person at a time in the bathroom. Service in the dining room was very slow, food always lukewarm. However this seems to be the norm in the Med. Plus side - the waiters and Maitre D were charming and helpful. Also the reception staff. Nice lounge area. The outside areas were lovely and the area very quiet. However was quite a way into Cefalu, and no bars or shops nearby. V small rocky beach belonging to hotel but think a slightly larger public one nearby.

Lovely reception in the evening, young lady and bell boy very nice and helpful.

Room nice, great seaview, beautiful newly done bathroom.

Brekkie in the morning very disappointing, although staff helpful on request.

Check-out not as nice an experience as check-in, but OK.

Overall easy, recommendable hotel to explore cefalu if you like a quite easy access (car) location

We stayed in Baia del Capitano for 6 nights in August 2008. Our room was standard with double bed with parking view. The room was quite big with comfortable bed and air condition. The TV in our room was too small though. It was quite hard to watch it from the bed. The shower was tiny! I hardly entered it with my 160 cm! Overall, the room was ok. They could only have more modern furniture as the hotel from the outside looks quite modern.

Breakfast was quite basic. There was coffee, tea, juice, cereals, ham, cheese, eggs, cornetti, jam, butter, honey, fruit, cakes and hot dogs. Everything was fresh and tasty, realy nothing to complain about.

We booked only bed and breakfast but two times we had our dinner at the hotel. Food was excellent! For the evening of Ferragosto (Aug 15) hotel prepared big buffet consisted of various types of fish food, salads, cakes...it was realy amazing! We enjoyed listening to Italian songs played on the violin and accordion. It was beautiful.

Hotel pool was good as well. Not too big but not too small. It was clean and refreshing.

Staff was very friendly and kind. We asked them for some advice where to go for dinner nearby, what to visit and they were quite helpful.

Hotel was about 400m away from the sandy beach where you could find umbrellas and deck chairs to use for free. Beach was so so...full of people so we didn't go there often. Without so many people, the beach would have been more lovely.
There is even rocky beach more close to the hotel, about 100m. It was not convenient for sunbathing but it had a beautiful view on Cefalu.

In general, we would like to recomend you this hotel for nice and relaxing holydays but our advice is not to go to Cefalu in August because there is so many people - hotel was 5km from Cefalu, but there was as well 5km of cars in a traffic jam to reach Cefalu - both if you wanted to go there during the day or night. If you come there by car, there is big parking free of charge.

It's very easy to get it. It is Just 2 Km far from the Motoway. It's 5 Km far from Cefalù's downtown and it's closed to the Motorway gate, if you want to spend some time away. The Swimming pool is almost smal but it is lovely and very cleaned. The sand beach it's 500 meters far: the water it's clean and the beach probably need an improvement. There are some seaweed on the beach and the lifeguard push these in the water and they come back.....
On the beach there is a cheap food service. You can eat a good plate of pasta for 5 €.
My room (207) was almost smal but it was one of the smal in the hotel. It was very quite and very cleaned. The crew was ok.
I raccomend to you to take a look on the balcony on the 3 floor: it's lovely and you can see the sea and the city center.
I reccomand to you to pick up a good skin protection: the sun power it's very high.

This hotel was reprsented well in photo's however the reality did not match up. It was a nice building from the outside but the inside was tired and dated. Our room itself was quite depressing and always had a slightly odd aroma. There was a fridge that no longer worked and the airconditioning was marginally effective. The bathroom was clean but felt like a public toiliet with functional soap and toiletpaper dispenser that you would not expect in a 3* hotel......and the towels were made of napkin material which was not comfortable at all. The pool area was nice, though the pool was smaller than it appeared in photo's. The reception staff were friendly and helpful however the waiting staff were not. The hotel is located a good distance outside of Cefalu and without a car you are a captive audience at the hotel. This is something the hotel exploit offering a limited fixed menu at very high costs. The portions, standard of food and service do not justify the cost. There was also an inflexibility to stepping outside the set menu. A bus service does run from outside the hotel, but only went 4times and day, stopping at 6pm. The nearby beach was not very nice. The beach in the centre of Cefula however was stunning and the town itself was beautiful.

Overall a good stay. We knew going in that it wasn't in the center of Cefalù and this was fine because we had a car. Though parking in Cefalù is not cheap. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly enough and the fact that it has a nice pool and access to beaches justifies the cost. It's classified as a three-star but I've seen four stars in Italy (I live in Milan, am married to Italian and have been in Italy for seven years) that were not this nice. We just had one little incident that marred the stay. Having returned early from dinner in Cefalù as I was not feeling well (I'm pregnant and still in my difficult first trimester) all we wanted to do was relax in the room and perhaps catch some satellite TV. Unfortunately our room was overlooking the pool, which meant we had the "live entertainment" blaring in from the balcony. It was loud - we could have been in the front row. When we turned on the TV, we couldn't get the satellite box to work and could only see four German channels. I went downstairs to tell the front desk and was told (perhaps because I'm foreign and he detected an accent in my Italian) that at least I could watch some German TV. I explained that I am not German and don't speak the language so that really wasn't any help to me. The front desk clerk came upstairs and determined that the satellite box was broken. He then declared that if we wanted we could change rooms where there was a working satellite box. I asked that he just change the box. I'm pregnant, not feeling well and my room was already "unpacked" with bathing suits drying, toiletries already in the shower etc. Changing the box seemed like the most logical solution. We have a similar one in our own home and know how to do it. Long story short he refused to do it so we were stuck in the room listening to bad renditions of Getz Gilberto songs coming in from the pool area (or turning on the TV to catch CSI in German) until after midnight. Really not a big deal but for a tired, irrational pregnant woman it seemed like it at the time.

One other thing - the beach gets CROWDED on the weekends in the summer. Yes, there is a roped off part for hotel guests but we had to climb over bodies and entire families spread out on the beach with their coolers just to get to that section.
