We stayed four nights at Villa Cerniglia while in Cefalu and it was a great choice. We scored a killer deal on Hostelworld.com and we feel like the place was well worth the money. Villa Cerniglia is just outside the historic center which makes for a quiet location, but close enough to get to everything by foot. The rooms were very spacious with modern decor, and the shower was large for Italy standards (we have mostly had phone booth sized showers for the past 3 weeks in Italy). Some rooms are equipped with very large balconies where you can listen to the surf while you sleep, divine! We used the kitchen every night with no problems and met great people while doing so. The only complaint, and it is pretty minor one, is there was no breakfast included. The beach is right across the street and just outside your window are views of the Duomo. The staff was excellent, cheers to Vincent for all his hospitality and information on what to do. I highly recommend this place for your stay in Cefalu...

We spent 2 nights at Villa Cerniglia, our best nights in Sicily. Easy to find location, right on the beach, close to the old town. Helpful staff. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony facing the sea and a fully equiped kitchen. Lots of room. Would be great for a longer stay. Nice grounds, with lots of outdoor space.

We spent a night at Villa Cerniglia, went to a couple of days to taormina and came back to this excellent B&B. The staff was very nice and helpful, the location is excellent - right on the beach, it has a free and spacy parking and altoghether - we highly recommend this place.

Villa Cerniglia B&B exceeded our expectations. Location is perfect (with a view of the sea). Staff is very friendly and accomodating! The room is very spacious and clean. We were incredibly impressed with the accomodations in comparison to the price. Great value! Regarding the disco across the street, it is not very loud as it is 200 m down the road. More details: hair dryer and television provided in room, some rooms equipped with kitchens (cookware is sparse), small italian breakfast (coffee and croissant) included. Oh and of course, beach chairs and umbrellas just across the street are also included. Recommendations for Cefalu: Hike up La Rocca! It is worth it! But pack plenty of water as it reaches 95F by 9AM in July! Have dinner at Il Cova del Pirata (The Pirate Cove)! It is a restaurant with seats sitting on top of the sea (on a cliff) and the service is perfect! See my review of the restaurant for more details.

Room Tip: The room facing the sea is a 4 person accomodation so it may not be available for a group of 2. The...

It has taken me awhile to write this review, nevertheless, i was more than pleased with my experience. I indirectly chaperoned a group of students who stayed with Italian families, and I had the luxury of staying at Villa Cerniglia at the end of March 2012. My spacious room overlooked the Tyrrhenian Sea, had cooking facilities, and more room than needed. While the breakfast was limited, Alberto's hospitality and accomodating staff made up for that. And, in actuality, the room rate was so reasonable in an off season, that I was thrilled to have the wonderful freshly baked croissant with jam, juice, and even an attempt at American style coffee! I have stayed in B&B's that were hardly as good and nowhere near as friendly/accomodating. One caveat, paper money only(euros). If you are a fussy American who needs a five star luxurious hotel, this may not be the place for you, but if you are a money consciuos traveler who enjoys good clean accomodations in a fabulous location with excellent hospitality, then Villa Cerniglia is for you. I will return!

We spend one night in June 2011 and have a very positive experience. The position of the house is excellent, opposite to the beach and couple of minutes to the old town. The double room was spacious enough, clean, with a good furniture, a fridge and a big terrace. The breakfast was moderate but on a terrace with wonderful view to the beach and the old town. The beach in front of the house is rocky so we went a few meters toward the town.

One of my least favorite things in the world is arriving in a new city when I'm tired from traveling and we don't have a place to stay, but that is exactly what we did in Cefalu. We knew we wanted something reasonably priced and ideally with a water view so we hiked down from the train station and wandered the water.

A random guy on the street tried convincing us to come over to his friend's B&B and I saw the nicer-looking Cerniglia right next to it. Although we'd have to wait a few hours as the prior guests checked out and the cleaners fixed it up, we were able to store our bags with the front desk and we had the Med view we wanted for a reasonable price (including free WiFi and breakfast). The room was huge too with a double bed, two single beds, and a lot of kitchen space had we wanted to prepare our own food. Sold.

I thought it was a really nice touch that when we made our way back to Cerniglia after a few hours that someone had delivered our bags to the room and nicely hung up my jacket and scarf. Thanks for that!

It was a little loud given that our room was underneath the breakfast room the next morning and I don't love the sound of scraping chairs so early and the breakfast was just okay. But during breakfast, my boyfriend and I decided we wanted to hop an earlier train over to Taormina...only problem was the train left in 30 minutes from the station and we still weren't packed.

The really lovely gentleman who works the front desk (owner?) sped us to the station in his car and we made it with two minutes to spare. That was above and beyond what I'd expect any stranger to do for us given that we had only spent one night there, but we REALLY appreciated it.

I'd say all around a good room in a great location with really great people working there!

Room Tip: First floor Med view!
