This wonderful hotel does not need anything I can say to enhance its quality. The room we had on the 3rd floor was exceptional, large beautifully fitted out and a view to die for. Ask for a lake view its worth it. The two major restaurants were superb with great service and a non stuffy atmosphere. The staff were excellent, friendly and humourous when appropriate. Not wishing to be patronising but the manager set a tremendous example he was everywhere making himself known and enquiring as to their guests well-being. You don't find this in many high quality hotels.
All the normal facilites exist no beach of course being lakeside but a unique floating pool in the lake and decking alongside for the sun tanners. Fantastic gardens and some slightly arduous walks. This hotel is not cheap but you get Value for Money. Try it you won't regret it

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view 3rd floor and high enough to dampen down any patio noise

Where to start: Huge rooms. Enormous beds. Incredible service. Amazing views. Beautiful swimming pool. Beautiful gardens.

Simply fantastic - a wonderful experience only rivalled by the top hotels in Asia. Puts many European hotels to shame and they could learn alot

I have been wanting to come here for 25 years. My wife and I came and celebrated her 50th birthday. Villa d'Este was everything we thought it would be. The staff and service were incredible. The word NO is not in their vocabulary.
It was a great 5 days that we will never forget.

What an amazing experience. I have stayed here twice and they never let me down. The rooms are beautiful and welcoming. Love the floating pool on the lake but it can be very cold. Staff is excellent and will try and help you with whatever you wish. It's fun to watch the private helicopters land while you are on the patio or pool. The food, although pricey but that's to be expected, is excellent as well. The gardens are so pretty and it's a quick walk into town. Just go and enjoy!!!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are good but if you can, ask for a lake view.

Three wonderful days at this iconic and world renowned hotel. We would return as it truly lived up to it's long reputation. Magnificent location both romantic and beautiful. High quality room and bathroom and overall it delivers what is expected. lovely pool, floating on the lake, super relaxing areas both day and evening, first class dinner in the Verandah restuarant at water's edge. It feels , looks and behaves like one of the world's great hotels and I think it is. Hotel boat trip to Bellagio was perfect too. Great options for other restaurants nearby and not a CLOONEY in sight!!

As last year, this ticked nearly all the boxes. As we were returning guests, the manager personally greeted us and we were presented with a small gift. Our room was as lovely as last year with view over gardens with partial view of lake. Food fantastic and atmosphere relaxing and friendly. Only downside was of the 3 nights stay, our (junior suite) room was only night-serviced once despite us returning to our room well after 9 pm on both nights. Husband complained formally 2nd time it happened and this lack of attention to detail cast a small cloud over our visit.

My family had been looking forward to staying at this hotel given its reputation and its famous rankings. We stayed in two "budget" courtyard rooms, which cost about $1,000 per night apiece. The rooms themselves were nothing to write home about - a poor view, as expected, smaller than expected with little storage space, no headboards, uncomfortable beds. Our first thought was: "Wow! What are we missing?" We've stayed at very nice hotels all over the world, and, as far as the room was concerned, it was disappointing. I'm sure that the much more expensive rooms would be nicer. The hotel itself was luxurious, the grounds were impeccable and the views of the lake were amazing. The buffet breakfast was great and the staff was attentive. We had also been looking forward to the swimming pool resting on top of the lake, since we've never seen anything like it. Even though the temperature outside was about 90 degrees, no one was in the pool because the water was freezing! There were maybe 2 or 3 hearty Europeans in the pool, but that was it. Meals at dinner were very expensive and slacks for men were required even with the heat. Waiters were a little snooty. I think this hotel probably used to be great, but it has been resting on its laurels for a little too long. Another thing to note: if you don't have a car and plan to visit other cities by water taxi, be aware that Cernobbio is not conveniently located and the ferries don't run as often as the major destination cities like Como and Bellagio. It can take 6 times as long to get to Bellagio by ferry as it does to drive. The ferries are a great experience the first time, but if you plan on visiting outside Cernobbio, know that it can take a LONG time to get to the other places. We loved the Italian lakes and surrounding area and plan to go back. But unless you want to spend some very serious bucks for larger hotel rooms with a better view and their over-priced restaurants, I'd look at other places as well.
