If you are into hotels with old world charm than this hotel is for you. The room I shared was furnished adequately with period furniture and pieces from the early 1900's. The bath had been updated and was okay. There is one large closet for jackets and long items. However, there was not a bureau or storage space if planning to stay more than one night. My main complaint is the difficulty in accessing the room with the key card. During the three nights there, it took more than five swipes to get the card to work which is frustrating. In addition there is a charge for Wi-Fi connection in your room amounting to $15 euros for a three night stay.. The food was tastefully presented and the wait staff was most attentive. This hotel was okay in my opinion.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor for a view of Lake Como.

My wife and I recently spent a very enjoyable week at the charming Regina Olga and were very impressed with the overall cleanliness. Towels changed every day and the bed linen changed several times. The staff were very efficient and friendly especially the dining room staff who were perhaps sometimes a little too enthusiastic in clearing away used plates etc. We travelled with a group and ate in our own dining room which was a very good idea for socialising. The menu was a little limited there being only two selections available for each course but , except for one occasion when the fish was a bit dry and the potatoes slightly undercooked, the meals were very acceptable. The selection at breakfast was quite extensive ( no bacon of course) with plenty of cereals, fruit, scrambled egg, ham etc.
The hotel is located just over 3 miles from Como, a 45/50 minutes walk initially along the main road but the last section along the lakeside through a park. There are also the regular water taxis or ferry boats which get you to Como in about 15 minutes for a fare of 2:50 euros( 2 euros for over 60's). One tip; don' t forget your travel kettle. This facility is not provided in the bedrooms.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a lake view. It is worth it.

I stayed here recently as part of a tour group. Unfortunately my husband needed a doctor and then admittance to a hospital in Como during that time. The staff in the hotel, especially Daniela and Mauro, could not do enough to help me. My vegetarian request was also well catered for.

The hotel has charm and some lovely public rooms. The bedrooms do vary in size and decor and there is some noise from the church bells nearby but this is a hotel in a small town in Italy, not a luxurious or chain hotel in the USA or Europe. The lake is very close and it's easy to take a boat trip to Como.

By the way the service at the new Ospedale Sant' Anna is excellent and puts some hospitals in the UK to shame.

Room Tip: If particular facilities, e.g. a bath, are important to you check with reception before booking. Mo...

After a bit of frantic driving around we finally found our way into the private car park. The welcome was warm & efficient but being 4* there was no help with the luggage which when you have two large dogs & bags is a bit of a drag. The view of Lake Como was spectacular & the Olga definately has old world charm. Just maybe alittle too old world, it could do with freshening up.

I stayed at this hotel for a week with a group tour. The breakfast and other meals were great - I was really impressed with hotel's food! In addition, their bar items are very reasonably priced. The staff is very helpful and speaks good English so those that don't know Italian are able to get quality assistance. Within walking distance there are lots of options for dinner, gelatto, and drinks. The pool is quaint and there is now a hot-tub to relax in after a day of visiting the area sights. The rooms are clean but quaint. They all have new flat screen TVs so the outdated pictures online are not a good representation of the rooms. I'd recommend this property - especially since it's such a short boat taxi ride to Como!

I would never recommend this hotel...Terrible. I called to change my reservation from a one night to a two night and was told they were overbooked, so I asked to cancel my reservation two days prior to the check in date, and was told that I could not cancel because I called at 4pm instead of 2pm!! this is crazy. Then I had American Express Travel (Platinum) call and they were told the same. So from Milan on my vacation, I took a one hour train, and 15 boat ride to the hotel to explain in person on Monday the 16th of September and the manager refused to allow m to cancel without a penalty. This is horrible customer service. I will tell everyone I know from Miami and elsewhere to NEVER stay at this hotel.

Our stay didn't get off to the best start. We were greeted at reception by a fairly surly, abrupt and unhelpful lady. There are two women that alternate at reception and from a distance the other one sounds kinder which may account for the conflicting reviews on TA.

The hotel is well located right next to the lake and the front of the hotel looks gorgeous. It's when you get up close to Regina Olga that you realise that it needs updating. It just misses the mark for old world charm and instead looks worn. For example, there is velvet on some hand railing that's faded, a beautiful grand piano in the lobby that has peeling lacquer, a nice pool that has a faded green mark around the waters edge, big crystal chandeliers that are murky and dusty. It could be a great hotel really easily but a lack of up keep just takes the shine off it.

Breakfast was average. We had trouble finding a table because dirty dishes had not been cleared away or the places had not been reset. We found the scrambled eggs to have gone dry and hard and there was no toast. No coffee facilities, you have to have it bought to you. That's fine but normally when hotels do this they have wait staff who are offering it- we had to try hunt someone down.

In addition we had to pay €15 for wifi which is usually included for free at most hotels these days.

In summary, it is a once grand hotel in a great location that is let down by its service and lack of maintenance.
