Stayed here in October 2012. A splendid hotel, rooms were wonderful, food adequate.
Had a wonderful week and would return, staff very helpful and friendly. The pool area and views from the roof are spectacular, especially early in the day.

Stayed here for 7 nights half-board on a walking trip in Tuscany. Rooms were fine with large comfy bed and good ensuite but no tea / coffee facility in the room. Breakfast was buffet style and plenty of food to load up for a days trekking. The hotel also provided us with very decent pack lunches on our walking days. Dinner became very predictable with just two choices of mains offered but overall quality was good. Service was actually quite fast by Italian standards and I had no complaints about this hotel in terms of quality or service. There is a rooftop swimming pool but it is not heated and only good to use if / when the sun is shining. The hotel is well located near the Spa which is a must for anybody staying in Chanciano to visit. 7 nights though in a no-horse town was about 5 nights too many for me as there is pretty much no nitelife to speak of there.

7 day booking half board & 3 tours with The Travel Company from 20/09/2010 to 27/09/2010. We checked out this hotel on the internet - it looked beautiful. However, upon checking into our room 214 on 20/09/2010 we were very disappointed. Whilst the room was spacious, the decor was very much in need of refurbishment. The wallpaper was faded, some peeling off the wall and water marks all around the window where the rain obviously came in. Mini bar stocked with fruit juice, water, beer & coca cola. Flat screen TV in room, no problems, however, the only channels we could watch - in English - were BBC World News or CNN. Plenty of hanging/storage space in hallway wardrobes with plentiful hangars (some M&S ones at that -perhaps other guests left them?). Bathroom - well, perhaps 'vintage suite' might be polite, it was pink in colour, which matched the floor tiles (some cracked as was the front of the bidet) small bath, which also served the shower, with a glass shower panel on the side. There was plenty of water pressure in the shower, but the space was so narrow, you couldn't turn around without knocking your elbows on the wall.
The main foyer and lounge area downstairs was beautiful, part of which was roped off so couldnt access. Single lift in main hotel, accessed via several stairs, into which only 2 people with small amount luggage could fit. No disabled access at all. Breakfast basic, bread rolls, pressed tinned ham, 1 type cheese, choice 4 cereals, 2 types tinned fruit, pears/peaches. Yoghurts, cold boiled eggs (on 2 occasions), & toast your own bread. Machine dispensed juices, and horrible horrible coffee from another machine which kept breaking down and flooding the floor. Very disappointing for the land of alleged fantastic coffee?? Hot water never really hot for tea either. However, you didnt go hungry. Dinner, got a choice of two mains, which you have to book at breakfast time, everything else non negiotiable. When ice-cream or fresh cream was requested by several people on 1 occasion, to augment the sweet, (as all sweets were very dry), we were told - no ice-cream. Dinners were very bland, luke warm, & would remind you of a 'meals on wheels' service. Has this hotel got a kitchen/chef/cookers??????? Other guests on this particular trip, who have been on the same type of holiday - hotel & half board, in other parts of Italy, remarked how poor the food was in both breakfast & evening meal, and lack of choice. We ate out at a local restaurant on the last night, Il Buco, on the recommendation of our guide, and also on advice of 2 of our fellow hotel guests, and the food was fantastic, hot, freshly cooked & beautifully presented by the staff. It really showed just how poor the hotel food was. I had ordered a pot of coffee as room service, on the last evening at 6pm, it never arrived & by 7.35 at reception, I cancelled it, the staff put it down to a 'mistake'. I did however have a lovely coffee at the Il Buco restaurant - so go there if you want good food & coffee!!!!

We recently spent a week at this hotel with 'The Travel Department' and found it to be a very clean and comfortable base for our tour. The food was not the best I've eaten in Italy but edible if a little restrictive - choice of two main courses each night. There were five courses starting with salad, soup, pasta, main and a sweet - one choice each night. Breakfast consisted of typical continental fayre but without the choice of scrambled , omelette or boiled eggs which would have been welcome as unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us that week. We were entertained each morning with either the toaster or the coffee machine breaking - sometimes both together!
The room we had was large and comfortable and the public areas of the hotel were very comfortably decorated with an abundance of antiques and art. The rooftop pool area would have been wonderful if the weather had been good.
The town itself was dominated by hotels with a few shops and restaurants but generally very quiet. We were easily able to use the public transport system to explore the area when not on one of the tours included with the trip. There is a travel information office very close to the hotel with very helpful staff. I am glad that we visited this area but found the travel times quite long to visit areas of interest in Tuscany. There is a Spa in the town where several of the group visited and found to be very relaxing.

We stayed overnight and it was an enjoyable stay, cute little town. I regret we couldn't stay longer.

Although the tv and radio looked very vintage and we couldn't turn them on, the lobby had wifi internet and the dinner and breakfast were just wonderful. The view of the mountains from our window, amazing, and we remember this hotel the most from our 11 day tour in Europe.

If we get a chance to go back to Italy, would love to stay in this town, and would stay here again!
