“Good atmosphere very good food”
Reviewed 23 September 2012

We did visit U Recanto because it looked clean and inviting. The staff/owners (?) were very friendly and helpfull. The restaurant was full of Italian guests so we thought this has to be OK.
Our pizza's were more than OK and the house wine also. The prices are not to expensive. They serve a l3 course lunch menu for 11 euro. The restaurant is in a small street and not so well to find but it's worthwhile to look for it.

“Good enough to go back”
Reviewed 22 September 2012

We spent 2 weeks in Chiavari as our base of travel spot, and stumbled on U Recanto. It was good enough the first night (had the daily combo special. . .appetizer, first course, second course, bottle of wine, bottle of acqua) and went back for the pizza the next night. This is the only restaurant we ate twice at, although two others warranted it. Warning: I am a big eater, my wife and I each got a pizza, and we had 1/2 of each after pizza, wine, and lemoncino (that's what they call lemoncello away from the Sorrento area). Wife had the cheese and pesto pizza, and mine had olives, artichokes, prosciutto, and anchovies. We expected "personal size"pizzas like in the USA for 8-10 euro and got large pizzas.

“Worst dining experience ever”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

We have dined in restaurants splendid and simple all over the world, but never have we experienced rudeness the like of which we experienced at U Recanto.
The restaurant is in a lovely litle street behind Piazza Mazzini and we took one of the pleasant outdoor tables.Admittedly we only have the basic words in Italian, but ordered one Caprese Salad to share from the Antipasti and then one Fettucine with porcini and one Tagliolini with zucchini and gambera from the Primi Piatti.
The waiter brought the starter and one main course at the same time - we tried to explain starter to share ,main courses together - he ignored us,so my husband had the starter and I had a main course. We called him back and said we no longer wanted the other dish.He shouted at us and promptly brought the other main course and shouted at us again. We picked over the other dish and called for the bill. When we called for the bill he sent someone else.We paid for the whole bill but evening spoiled and a restaurant to avoid at all costs!

“Ok for lunch”
Reviewed 19 September 2012 via mobile

We ordered 2 pizzas for lunch, which is not the best thing round here but we fancied a pizza. The pizzas were very big and extremely cheesy, too much cheese for us.
Great value though at 6 euros for each pizza and 6 euro for 1/2 litre house wine (which was very nice).
We looked at some of the seafood being served to others and that looked very nice
