“Great Hospitality”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

My husband and I backpacked Europe in the summer of 2011 and our boat came into Civitavecchia and we were tired, HUNGRY, and somewhat put off from our recent stays in Barcelona & Paris. The lady who greeted us at the front desk could not have been more of a gem! We instantly loved her for she spoke almost no English but with the use of her hands and a map she made sure we got the BEST pizza of our lives and made sure we knew about everything going on in the area. The trains were on strike but she was determined to update us on when they would be up and running again. Our room was cozy and cool. We felt so welcomed into Italy and excited to explore.

I do not give it 5 stars because it is not a luxury hotel, but it is clean and comfortable. Rooms and bathroom are large enough for 3 people, and the staff is super accommodating. When you check in you get maps and instructions on how to get to restaurants that meet your budget. They suggested as a more $$$ restaurant La Nuova Torretta. The meals were incredible, and affordable (~20 euros/plate). Great hotel to stay before or after a cruise. The hotel is about 15 min walk from the train station and 10 min from port. I am sure some may take less time, but I am 71 and walk slow.

We stayed 1 night after a cruise. The hotel is in the old town, with tiny streets & squares lovely when you get to know it but difficult to find hotel at first, Best way left from docks past Mc donalds & Museum, turn left past cathedral & take next right uphill until get to T at top. Hotel can be seen on left. The staff were wonderful; the lady offered us breakfast while the room was ready (9.30am) and took our bags up. The room was good with a reasonable shower room (the shower was small!), clean and comfortable with a kettle & tea tray. The hotel was much better inside than the exterior would suggest. A great place,

We stayed in this hotel the night before we departed on our cruise. The room was clean, and spacious. The shower was very small. I'm small and found it tight...Even by European standards, I think it was small. The lady at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. She made some wine recommendations for us and we found a small shop that sold (incredibly cheap wine - We picked up a really good Shiraz for about 7 Euros).

The only downside, was the bed and pillows were not terribly comfortable. We always have a terrible sleep our first night after travelling from North America though, and the bed certainly contributed to that, but may have also been why we noticed the bed.

It was incredibly difficult to find. Download a good google map of it BEFORE you leave and just start wandering.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights before going on a cruise. Anna at front desk friendly, pleasant and very helpful. Hotel is in the old town, walking distance to the market, shops and restaurants. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast with good selection of items. Only disadvantage is there is no elevator- Anna helped with luggage. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Had to make a last minute reservation due to a delayed departure of our ferry to Spain. Dominico and his colleague were especially helpful in finding a parking space for us, contacting the ferry company to confirm departure times, storing large pieces of luggage for us so we didn't have to carry them up the stairs (no elevator), recommending local restaurants, directing us to a gas station to fill up our rental car, and making arrangements for our early morning (5am) departure time. Since we left so early, cannot comment on breakfast. Only word of warning - ask for a room not facing the street. There is a restaurant and a bar next door and another bar across the street. Can't believe people would stand outside in the street in low 40's temperature with pouring down rain until 2:30 in the morning, but they did. Needless to say, got very little sleep. Also, water in the shower was barely luke warm.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Port of Civitavecchia before boarding our cruise ship. Fortunately, it was well worth the extra challenge of navigating through Italy's old, narrow cobblestone roads to find the hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted by "Anna" who could not have been more friendly and kind. She welcomed us like we have stayed there before and immediately offered her assistance with everything from luggage to parking. We found that a nearest parking lot was a few blocks away. However, Anna spotted an opening right in front of the hotel and suggested that I park there. As it was next to a neighboring restaurant's outdoor dinner table (literally several inches from it), it took two of us to maneuver my car (a family van no less) several times. Anna was extremely helpful by explaining our situation to the restaurant customers and seeking their understanding. That sat the tone for our stay as Anna remained very helpful and attentive to our needs. Our rooms (two adjoining) were on the second floor and quite simple. As there was no elevator, we had to move our bags up one floor. For older guests, this may be an issue. I noticed that there were many couples who were much older and were not in physical condition to lift semi-heavy bags. However, Anna and her staff were always willing and available to assist with this. Breakfast was adequate. A local restaurant, which is right next to the hotel but not associated with the hotel, had a late night party till wee hours, and we could hear them until 2am. This could have been an issue but we were too tired to be bothered by this noise. By the way, i would not recommend eating at the restaurant as it was overpriced and the food quality was poor. The place is mainly for drinking and sitting outside to chat, not for real Italian cuisine. Overall, this is a perfect location for its convenience to the port. While we were lucky with our parking situation, i would not recommend it for those driving their own vehicle as parking can be a challenge.
