“Keep in Mind its only 3 stars...”
Reviewed 11 December 2013

We spent a total of 3nights here, and that was 2 nights too many, its not that there is anything wrong with the place its just average, and I thought staying on a ranch would be interesting for my kids, but it wasn't what I imagined..the room would not be out of place in a mid west American town, beams and wood abound, we were in the family room which was quite large.
My big mistake was to have a night here after the cruise..the ship arrived on a Monday morning and the restaurant is shut that day..which was a big disappointment and I would never have stayed there if I had of known we had to go to town just to eat, this is adequate for pre-cruise 1night...but lets just say that is enough. The male owner hasn't much english, he is a little gruff, but the rest of the staff seem pleasant enough and the waiters were great fun and look like they have seen it all , we enjoyed a nice lunch and dinner here, but breakfast was below par.

Room Tip: We had a family room, we liked the views from the verandah, the room was adequate for our needs.

A great location to prepare for a cruise. Above the city with stables close by and surrounded by hills. A quiet location, excellent breakfast, and a restaurant with a varied menu. Rooms are very comfortable with lovely bathrooms and excellent showers.

The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to your ship (not just to the port entry, but to the ship check-in point). As I had to drop off a rental car, they took our luggage in the shuttle, led me to the car rental location, waited until I returned the car, and then dropped us off at the ship. A huge help and all complimentary.

Highly recommend as a kick-off point for a cruise.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs can be quieter.

All email enquiries I sent were met with prompt & helpful responses. We arrived @ 5pm & first impressions were that the grounds needed a good tidy up. The hotel sits in the hills out of town & it was lovely to stroll around the grounds enjoying the fabulous views.
Our room was very impressive with double outlook but have to say could have done with being a bit cleaner.

Free wifi both in the room & reception. Free shuttle service port on request.

Meal taken in the restaurant was fabulous, fresh & very tasty....I'd definitely remove those net curtains from the windows though, some great wooden shutters would have been in keeping & allowed to look out at the view.

If you have a phobia of bugs & snails this may not be the right place for you but I coped!

If our room had been cleaner, grounds tidier, had been a place to grab a coffee or a snack & those dreadful net curtains removed from the restaurant this place would have been perfect.

Room Tip: Room 25 for the views!

We were going on a cruise from Civitavecchia and stayed here the night before we departed. The hotel is surrounded by a cattle ranch. It is all very rustic as you can imagine and full of character. We got room 25, which has a great view from its window over the port. The evening meal was excellent. The staff spoke excellent English, there is free wi fi and they transported us to the port as part of the package. For two people and with the evening meal and breakfast it was 135 euros which i thought was a good price. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Try and book room 25!

LOVED IT!!!! A group of six friends, not knowing what to expect, were collected at Rome airport by the hotel’s organised mini-coach. We were all as excited as 6 year olds! It took us about an hour to get to this simple but adorable hotel; certainly not 4/5 star but what a brilliant way to start our holiday as it was so close to the port! The approach via an uphill dirt track had super views across the Tyrrhenian Sea and port of Civitavecchia where we would be picking up our first Azamara cruise. What greeted us was a homely place perched high on a hill beaming so full of character and absolutely perfect for us to commence our holiday. The rooms were all different with lots of space and very large comfortable beds, each room had a little fridge with complimentary water in a little fridge, lots of wardrobe space and free Wi-Fi. Our room smelled a little musty, even with the windows open but the others were fine! The sun was beginning to go down so the sunset was stunning; the place ‘appeared’ empty so we sat outside, drank acceptable Prosecco, chilled and then all got ready for dinner. The restaurant was packed and really lively, (they looked like locals and not holiday makers). Food was enjoyable with lots of local Beef, we cooked it on red hot sizzling plates and drank local wine (an acquired taste) but had a fun evening and the Staff were very friendly (after the initial cool reception!). A great night’s sleep, lots of hot water, white fluffy towels and an adequate breakfast (though not brilliant), coffee was however excellent. The next morning we all took a stroll around the grounds, the setting just perfect, horses, a pool, serenity all on a hill with stunning views. The garden area needs ‘some maintenance’ but all in all we absolutely loved this little ‘find’ and will definitely go back when we take our next cruise. (Thanks to Mark, who did the research to find it).

Room Tip: room overlooking sea of next to it with a bath better than the room in the corner (23) as there was...

We spent two wonderful nights at this hotel before catching our cruise. The hotel has beautiful views of the Tyrrhenian Sea and port of Civitavecchia. The resort is high on the hills above the town and offers everything from horse back rides to relaxing by the pool. It is not hard to find from the main highway, but if you are in town and trying to cross the highway to find the hotel, you may be in for some adventure. The best strategy is to follow the signage for Terme di Traiano (Trajans Baths), then follow the road to the right just before the baths and watch carefully for the signs on your right going up the hills. Contrary to the popular saying "You can miss it" as I frequently did. Good luck. It is well worth the effort to find this resort.

Room Tip: Our room was on the end with full view of the port and sea.
