“Stunning location, really friendly service”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

Superb setting, really good and friendly service, excellent food, only problem was that we shared a dorm with a snorer so sleep quality was poor but that wasn't the fault of the refuge.

The shared showers were good and clean. I hadn't really expected hot water so was pleasantly surprised. The bunks were comfy. A towel was provided for showering and there was shower gel in the shower.

Breakfast was good, for the altitude! Dinner was superb - the best quality food of the week.

I would definitely stay here again and hope that we could book a private room because I need my sleep when skiing!

The view is fantastic and watching the sun set from the terrace was very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a private room, if available!

We stayed the last night of the summer season, so the place was empty. The owner was ever present and very nice. Room was superb. Food was excellent. Service was also excellent. Price was very reasonable.

Would absolutely stay again.

Ate lunch there last week with my daughter and our mountain guide after our morning of hiking and traversing the Via Ferrata Averau. I had the beet root ravioli which were phenomenal and also shared a delicious salad. We sat outside on the terrace since it was a warm, sunny afternoon. A memorable experience!

Impressive view, great menu, an ideal place to relax and have your hard earned lunch after having an epic performance on the slopes.

It's located at the top of the Cinque Torri and if weather permitting you can sit outside and enjoy the spectacular views to Civetta and Marmolada while enjoying your favorite drink

Averau is great restaurant at Chinque Torri ski area. If you are on the way to Lagazuoi/Hidden Valley, this is definately the place tonhave lunch. The views are great and foodnis excellent - especially the double/triple pasta menu.

On Friday evenings, Averau is open. Either touring up (2 hours) or taking lift/ski-scooter combination, is great way to spend your friday evening in Sella Ronda & Corrina area. If you tour up, remember to bring your headlight with you.

Whenever skiing in the Dolomites I always make an effort to have lunch at Rifugio Averau as the food is exceptional and the location is on top of the world. I always order one of the pasta dishes as they tend to have more original sauces than the normal and I have never been disappointed. A few weeks ago I had the tagliatelle with a pheasant sauce and it was delicious. I have also stayed overnight at the Rifugio where the ensuite bedrooms would outclass some of the hotels that I have stayed at. The only down side is that the restaurant is now so popular that one really must book in advance if one wants to eat indoors at peak lunchtime. With a reasonably priced wine list and very efficient service it is difficult to find fault. If the weather is favourable, the patio offers spectacular dining as the views are simply stunning.

We stayed overnight here in March 2012, it was fantastic.
Returned for lunch in Jan 2013...even better. My favourite rifugio in the Dolomites.
Food, wine, service, bedrooms, location, all amazing.
The grilled Cervo for main was fabulous as was the Tagliolini with Cervo and truffle.
I hope to be back before the end of the season.
