“wonderful Dolimiti service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 March 2013

Hotel La Tambra,

The Dolimiti Hospitality is known to be excellent, and this is very much confirmed at La Tambra. Super friendly and professional staff in all areas of the hotel, especially in the restaurant. As our youngest child broke his leg on day 2 (bummer), they went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. Room Service for breakfast, lunch and dinner? No problem!

Food was very nice, daily menu of 4-5 courses starting with an Antipasti buffet, and than 2 or 3 choices for primi, mains and deserts. The “Ladin” night buffet with local dishes was a highlight. Large choice for breakfast as well, including hot dishes.

We stayed in a family room which is large enough for a family of 4. Rooms have been recently renovated, bathroooms also fine. A negative is that the rooms are noisy, we could hear our neighbours cheering during a soccer match on TV. Also no wifi in the room, and no internet cable available. Free wifi however is available in the lobby but a bit unstable.

location is a bit outside the beautiful town of Corvara. It is around a 600 meters walk to the skilift, or you take the bus shuttle which stops just in front of the hotel.

All in all we really enjoyed La Tambra and their friendly staff, I would recommend to my friends.

Room Tip: If you need internet in your room, ask which room have wifi coverage, not all do!

A larger group, of 18 people, stayed at La Tambra during our skiing trip to Corvara. The hotel is located some 400 meters away from skilifts and the is a skibuss stop just outside the hotel (ask for your free bussticket from the hotel).

The hospitality at the hotel is outstanding - all of us were impressed on the helpfullness and joy we we served.

The hotel rooms at the new part are excellent, some of the rooms on the old part show signs of age (mostly single rooms in the old part). The spa area is great and the skistorage is ok.

We had half-board and the dinners were excellent four course meals. Started with great salad buffet, followed with three choices of starters, main course and two choices of desert. The selection of local Ato Adige wines is plentifull.

Our stay here was somewhat strange. There was a mix up with the original booking, initially my mistake, but then corrected by me in writing. However, they never updated the booking so while we were expecting to stay for 3 nights we had to leave after 2 which we found out on our arrival- so not a great start. We also requested twin beds in writing but all rooms were made up as doubles so they don't read their correspondence.
We were booked in on a half board basis, and the food is terrible. As one recent Italian reviewer wrote if you are nostalgic for school dinners this will be perfect. Poorly prepared food slapped on a plate, really not good. As we did not enjoy dinner first night we opted to eat out on our second night and told the staff in the morning we would not be dining at the hotel. However, when the hotel bill was presented we were informed that we had to pay for the meal at the hotel anyway. I think getting guests to pay for meals they have not consumed is very poor customer relations.
The hotel is modern the rooms are spacious and comfortable even if rather bare. However, given our unfortunate experience here I will not be returning. The story does have a happy ending- we spent our third night in Corvara at the Hotel Posta Zirm and it was totally wonderful.

Room Tip: don't take the half board option
