This is the third time that we have stayed in Diano Marina but it's the first time at this hotel and I would stay here again without hesitation. it is in close proximity to the pretty, compact resort centre with its restaurants, cafes and shops, and a few minutes walk away from the private beach. Beach facilities were included in the price consisting of two reserved sun beds and a parasol per couple. The beach and sea were clean although quite bus and noisy at times.
Our room was very modern and included a four-poster bed - this was basically a wooden frame with a drape falling at the back of the headboard. The swish bathroom included a shower head over the whirlpool bath. The shower head lit up starting with a blue shade and gradually turning to red, dependent on my setting. The room was quite spacious and led out onto a balcony. The room, number 426, overlooked some 'gardens' and east facing. You could just about see the sea in the distance on the south side, over the tops of houses.
There was a fitness room, jaccuzzi and children's play area in the hotel, together with a relatively small outdoor pool area equipped with sun beds but no parasols. The pool bar area didn't seem to be manned continuously throughout the day as my husband and I waited for twenty minutes, then alerted the receptionist who informed us the waiter was on his way. We gave up waiting after another ten minutes had passed.
The restaurant is on the ground floor and opens up onto the pool terrace which is where we sat. I found it rather chilly and had to wear a jacket, as did most of the other guests who were seated in this area. Nevertheless, we always looked forward to experiencing the delights of the meals. The buffet starters were prepared and presented beautifully. The choice was many and varied and tasted wonderful. The second, third and fourth courses were served by efficient and friendly staff.
Buffet breakfast was served on the fifth floor from where there was a view of the sea . Guests could choose to sit within the building or on the open air veranda. Once again, the food was varied and plentiful.
The cuisine, in general, was mediterranean with some regional specialities in the evening. The guests were mainly Italian. Very few waiters could converse in English but we don't speak Italian but got by as the maitre-de spoke English well.
There was no evening entertainment provided during our stay and the bar closed at 10 pm which surprised us. Street entertainment, namely musicians/singers could be found in some of the nearby bars and restaurants.
The local train station is just around the corner from the hotel - there was no problem with noise though, It was handy for visiting some of the nearby resorts etc. and relatively cheap.
All in all, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was close at hand and easy to get to.
