4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2011

This is the third time that we have stayed in Diano Marina but it's the first time at this hotel and I would stay here again without hesitation. it is in close proximity to the pretty, compact resort centre with its restaurants, cafes and shops, and a few minutes walk away from the private beach. Beach facilities were included in the price consisting of two reserved sun beds and a parasol per couple. The beach and sea were clean although quite bus and noisy at times.

Our room was very modern and included a four-poster bed - this was basically a wooden frame with a drape falling at the back of the headboard. The swish bathroom included a shower head over the whirlpool bath. The shower head lit up starting with a blue shade and gradually turning to red, dependent on my setting. The room was quite spacious and led out onto a balcony. The room, number 426, overlooked some 'gardens' and east facing. You could just about see the sea in the distance on the south side, over the tops of houses.

There was a fitness room, jaccuzzi and children's play area in the hotel, together with a relatively small outdoor pool area equipped with sun beds but no parasols. The pool bar area didn't seem to be manned continuously throughout the day as my husband and I waited for twenty minutes, then alerted the receptionist who informed us the waiter was on his way. We gave up waiting after another ten minutes had passed.

The restaurant is on the ground floor and opens up onto the pool terrace which is where we sat. I found it rather chilly and had to wear a jacket, as did most of the other guests who were seated in this area. Nevertheless, we always looked forward to experiencing the delights of the meals. The buffet starters were prepared and presented beautifully. The choice was many and varied and tasted wonderful. The second, third and fourth courses were served by efficient and friendly staff.

Buffet breakfast was served on the fifth floor from where there was a view of the sea . Guests could choose to sit within the building or on the open air veranda. Once again, the food was varied and plentiful.

The cuisine, in general, was mediterranean with some regional specialities in the evening. The guests were mainly Italian. Very few waiters could converse in English but we don't speak Italian but got by as the maitre-de spoke English well.

There was no evening entertainment provided during our stay and the bar closed at 10 pm which surprised us. Street entertainment, namely musicians/singers could be found in some of the nearby bars and restaurants.

The local train station is just around the corner from the hotel - there was no problem with noise though, It was handy for visiting some of the nearby resorts etc. and relatively cheap.

All in all, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was close at hand and easy to get to.

Room Tip: Room 426 (The Aurora) was quiet, faces east and overlooks gardens and has a side sea view.

We have spent one wonderful week with our 18 months baby begin august on this hotel and we can definitively recommend it.

The services are excellent and the staff is professional and attentive.

The hotel is near the beach and it's realy nice to have access to the outdoor pool.

Finally, the food either at lunch or dinner was excellent !

We ended up at this hotel almost by chance. Were lucky to find a room for two night at this time of the season, where apparently everything is booked, anywhere, months in advance. I have to say: great experience, we will pass by for sure next summer.

If you have a family with two young children travelling is difficult: flights are full and expensive, roads are crowded, beaches are impossible to reach. The Hotel Torino had a solution for all our problems.

Price/quality is really good for this part of Europe at this time of the season, food is really high quality (we love Italian food, fresh, tasty, natural!) and uses lot of local ingredients, the swimming pool has the right size to allow your children swim freely but constantly under control, the breakfast is fantastic, served on a terrace at the top of the building, overlooking the old town, the medieval church and the sea on the background. If I need to give a suggestion for the hotel management, I wonder why this terrace is not used also at night as an alternative restaurant or a bar at night; I am sure it would be a success.
The private beach is literally 10 minutes walking from the hotel entrance; its cost is included in the room rate and this makes a big difference in terms of budget and convenience. The beach is very safe for children, sand is smooth and with lifeguards on duty all the time.
At night Diano Marina is very quiet, with many bars and attractions. But the real gems here are the small medieval villages just 5-10 Km away from the sea on the hills. These places are full of history and traditions, they were the center of life hundreds of years ago when nobody wanted to live near the beach. During summer, each of these villages prepares a huge calendar of events and some of them seems really cool: medieval theaters, candle light nights, classic music open air concerts, etc. We will definitely plan more next summer.

Back to the Hotel, we are very happy about this experience, also had a small discount at the time of paying the bill, maybe we were more polite than others :-)

Definitely recommended.

By the time we booked they only had standard rooms available, but they also do larger rooms and suites. We were pleasantly surprised, the room decor was exactly as the picture on-line. Fresh colours plenty of space to put cases, necessary as the room was not vast but plenty enough room, and a balcony overlooking the pool, enough hanging room for clothes for our ten days. Small neat bathroom with shower, which was not vast either, but sufficient. In all very clean, and family run, with very good food, and good breakfast buffett, something for everyone. You could hire beach towels, and the beach was 5mins away, but be warned it did get pretty crowded (hotel had its own reserved beds for guests).
Diano Marino itself was a delight! shops opened to late, bars, cafe's and restaurants literally just a short stroll away for lunch or dinner! and it seemed that their tradition is that after 5pm with your first round of drinks a plate of GOOD food picks, not just nuts and crisps,is served in the bars... excellent! the people are friendly and helpful, and that seems to be the case where ever you go! Be warned English is not the first language, and it seems that it is a secret place only known about by the Italians! EXCELLENT discovery....and No larger louts anywhere!!! I would say that is a bonus!!! We hired a car and went to far flung villages, and the locals where all the same there too, helpful and friendly. If you are a walker, there are plenty of walks to choose from.
We flew into Nice and it took approx 1 hr and 15mins to get to the Hotel...EXcellent!!!

Room Tip: Book early! there were not enough hangers for us, and drink bottled water. Pool was a bit small, bu...

This hotel grew on us. The check in was cold and unpersonal, no smiles. But during our weeks stay the receptionist started to smile. The waiters at breakfast, lunch and dinner ar amazing. Fast, efficient, maybe to effcient, actually. Eating dinner and lunch, wich both are pretty good, actually, is lightning fast. The restuarant opens at 1930 in the evening, you get served 1945, you eat, get new dish at 2005, dessert, then at 2030 your dinner's over, and the restaurant closes 45 minutes later. Slow down, boys.

The pool is ok. Could have been heated, but ok.

The gym is very good. Any gym with free weights, like this one, is a good gym in my opinion.
They even have good cardio-machines.

Breakfast is excellent, especially when compared to traditional italian breakfast. This is American. Ham, cheese, yoghurt, sweets and a fantastic coffee.

Our room, #421, is probably the best in the hotel. It's the only room with a gigantic terrace. But it's pricey.

I would say this is the best hotel in Diano Marina. Much because of the waiters. They're really cool and cordial. Roberto is the coolest one! If your read this, Roberto. Thank you!

Ohh, by the way. The WIFI is really slow. We're talking 54 k/b-slow.

Good luck if you choose this hotel!

I led a group of 50 people, staying at the Torino in early May 2011. We had a great holiday in Liguria, and have to thank the Torino for its contribution to that.
We had excellent sunny weather for the six days and great excursions to exciting and interesting places. But it was the hotel which generated the most praise from the Probus Members.

They appreciated the location in the centre of the town, but not really overlooked by others. Even the swimming pool seemed surprisingly isolated from road noise. We liked the very modern reception area, and the variety of styles of rooms, all well decorated and with modern facilities - some people eagerly sampled their ultra-modern Niagara Falls Power shower with water invigorating their bodies from all directions and all heights.

The 5th floor rooftop Breakfast Room, being one of the highest spots in the town, had stunning views – complimented by an excellent buffet breakfast with a wide choice - cereals, fruit, smoked salmon, cheese, ham, eggs, (boil to your own timing), toast, and even rice cakes!

Most of the members of the Club had not visited Liguria previously and were not sure what sort of cuisine or meals to expect, but the Torino gave us an excellent and enjoyable education in the tastes and flavour of Liguria, in the dinners. Firstly, through a dinner of Ligurian and local dishes with unique flavours. There was rabbit, (delicious) and the swordfish was great. On the rest of the days, in the more regular pasta and meat dishes – all had flavours from spices and oils which improved upon the regular tastes of these dishes and on the palates which we were familiar with.

All the food was delicious and the hors d’oeuvre buffet was good enough to die for - our members were jostling to get to the buffet first, and some might even have survived on the buffet, without having 3 more delicious courses to follow.
The extras were very much appreciated - the last-night ‘Bombe’, complete with flames, fireman and fire extinguisher, the generous ‘gin and tonics’, the poolside ‘nibbles’, and the use of the conference room for the last night.

The service throughout was very friendly, very efficient, and the waiters had a sense of humour – when one of our group asked for ‘a small dish of soup’, she was given a saucer-full !

Our club, has the tradition of friendship and fellowship, and a dining habit of sitting at large tables, and moving seats every evening, so that we converse with all members in the group, over the holiday week. We appreciated that this was at variance to all Torino’s well-designed and well–practiced regular procedures. We apologised for our eccentric traditions and the problems caused. But the Maitre’D and his staff were very flexible, and allowed us to do that – and still the staff remained super –efficient.

In summary, the group believe that the Torino is an excellent hotel – high quality, very efficient, yet friendly service - worth far more than four stars. We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking pool are best
