“A Country House gem - a delight to return to each day”
Reviewed 29 June 2011

The friendly laid back welcome we received really set the scene for our remaining three night stay. This is a place to relax in, away from the coastal belt, and savour the stunning views with drinks from the honesty bar. The swimming pool is set a distance from the main house so families with children do not intrude on other guests tranquility. The rooms are furnished to a high standard with excellent air conditioning. Breakfast is varied and copious with second hot drinks and eggs as extras. We chose a different local restaurant to dine at each night from the excellent list provided by the Villa.

I stayed here for a week with my husband and 2yr old son on our first family holiday with just the three of us and relished the peace and quiet of the wonderful setting and beautiful house. There is a low key and laid back but luxurious feel to the place - it really felt like we had it to ourselves a lot of the time. The food was lovely and we were made to feel exceptionally welcome and at home despite having a rampaging 2yr old. Loads of places to visit on day trips if you can drag yourself away. I would quite happily take a few books and stay here for weeks on end soaking up the atmosphere and the sunshine (and the good food and wine!). Seems popular with older couples without children but certainly suits families wanting to get away from it all and would be fun with groups of friends with or without children.

We travelled to Villa Giulia with a teenage daughter and our one and a half year old. They both loved it. We were upgraded to a larger apartment so that L. could have her own room. The food was excellent. The park around the villa greatl. Anna a wonderful host always ready to answer our requests with real grace. We were extremely pleased with our two night stay at Villa Giulia and highly recommend it.

Coming to Villa Guilia is like being received from very good friends.

The Villa, the garden and the setting is unique. Luxury is defined in a very grounded way without any chichi. A georgeous spot in the marvellous Marche.

We enjoy the quiteness and the authentic charme since many years.

Perfect for travallers who look for absolute indiviuality and peacefulness, rather than a posh place.

My husband & I stayed in one of the converted out buildings in the grounds of this beautiful villa. On entering the villa we were greeted by Spritz the very friendly labrador & then by Anna (the owner), who is very charming & helpful & made us feel immediately at home with a lovely glass of chilled prosceco. Our apartment was simply & very tastefully furnished in a shabby/chic style with a very well designed mini kitchen. We had breakfast & dinner in the garden in the main house - lovely & very relaxed & very beautiful. Almo (Annas son) was the perfect host & very friendly & chatty. There are so many beautiful patios to sit in we were spoilt for choice.
The swimming pool is in the grounds of the house & is lovely & clean & big & the same depth throughout. There are very good sun loungers with small canopies to shade your head & parasols & trees around the edges of the pool.
We hired bicyles from the Hotel one afternoon & went for a trip in the beautiful countryside.
If you are looking for a sleek, modern sophisticated hotel, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a relaxed & charming family hotel, with a lot of history, full of antiques, Villa Giulia is perfect.
We had a wonderful time.

I wish that we had had more time to pass at Villa Giulia; our four-day stay was just not enough to fully enjoy this charming B+B. This country seat, located in the hills above the town of Fano with views of the Adriatic Sea, is a laid-back and peaceful spot, a destination in its own right, really.

I loved this place and its owner Anna, contessa Passi (see photo), whose family has owned the estate since 1892. The main house is filled with family photos and heirlooms, lending a warm and cozy atmosphere all around. There are three, well-mannered dogs, Elsa, Lola and Spitz, who have the run of the place; they add to the family-like warmth around Villa Giulia. There is even a small chapel, where I was told a wedding was held a few days before we got there.

Anna and her staff have created a peaceful, relaxed oasis. The staff (including Anna’s lovely daughter Mila) is very attentive; I had an e-mail correspondence with Anna that proved to be most helpful before our arrival. I even had some clothes laundered; they were perfectly washed, folded and delivered to our room in a day’s time.

Our room, No. 3, was located in the near-by guest annex, not the main house. The spacious and fancifully frescoed room (see photos) was a joy to return home to each day. The south-facing window looked out over the rolling hills and the sea (see photo). The room was clean and comfortable; the bathroom too was clean, tidy and efficient. A good night’s sleep was easy enough on the comfortable mattress of the metal post bed. A built-in wooden wardrobe offered both shelving and a hanging rod for clothes.

Breakfast, included in the room rate, was laid out in the octagon-shaped dining room; and we took our morning meal just out the doors in the garden. The wide-ranging breakfast offerings included fresh fruit and yogurt, cereals and breads and breakfast tarts, prosciutto and eggs. The coffee was great. The friendly atmosphere at Villa Giulia helps guests get to know each other; breakfast is the perfect opportunity to do this. Guests come from many parts to enjoy this perfect spot; everyone shared plans for day and what they had already done. Dinner is also available; to be included, check with the staff. We enjoyed a fine meal here the first night of our stay.

Stroll around the grounds; there are many acres to explore (see photo). I liked the olive groves. There is a swimming pool; but in early June it was never hot enough for us to take a dip, but some guests did, so bring your bathing suit. A wide, long, sheltered terrace overlooks the hills; here, lounge chairs and settees are arranged around tables for drinks, conversation and relaxing.

Yes, relaxing, that is the perfect word to describe Villa Giulia. Friendly, too. This is the country. Relax. Enjoy. Make new friends. This is the ideal spot for it!
