We visited on a cold, rainy spring Tuesday night and got the last table by the toilet; we were quite happy with it, as it was out of the way and we had no reservations. We had walked by this osteria many times but had shied away as the outside crowd is young and raucous. Inside the restaurant has a very cozy and pleasant atmosphere, with few tables. The menu is delightful and original. We were given a beautiful tray of local salami, which was delicious. I had the risotto with fungi and my wife had spaghetti with pomodorini and olives. Both dishes had incredible potential, but unfortunately both were very salty, the risotto so salty as to almost be inedible. But the flavors permeated the dishes and were delectable. We seemed to be the only non-Italians in the room, and in spite of my best restaurant Italian, we felt a bit out of place (we did not speak English to the wait staff). The service was slow, particularly in the beginning, not particularly friendly although not unfriendly. It seemed as if the wait staff was uncomfortable with non-native speaking Italians. We waited a while to pay our bill and were not bid good night and left without a thank you. This osteria could be so much more, but they are probably content to cater to the local population. But they really should use a lot less salt. If they had, and if the service had been welcoming, I could easily give this osteria five stars. If you have sufficient Italian to ask for less salt, I highly recommend either of the dishes we had.
