“Local Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

Off the tourist path, this restaurant caters to locals with its pumpkin ravoli bolognese special and great fish, pasta and veal. The ambience and service are first class. The local wine list is extensive and contains a number of excellent and inexpensive wines. Reservations are recommended. The owner and staff are professional and friendly.

“Overrated”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 January 2012

After reading raving reviews about this restaurant, we decided to lunch there. The wine list is impressive and the price is charged accordingly. However, the food was mediocre at best. My partner had the guinea fowl, which was tasty but dry, while I had the eel, which was very fishy. Thank god it was just four tiny bits of eel. Even then, it was overwhelming. Disappointing experience.

Lovely setting - the food was fine ... but not stellar ... and our waiter was not very friendly ...

“The place to eat in Ferrara”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2011

We visited L'oca giuliva again this year while we were in Ferrara and it is now better than ever. The Dining experience could not be faulted, with a really nice mix of local and regional dishes. Out of all the restaurants we have visited in Ferrara this stands head and shoulders above the rest.

“A romantic find in a romantic city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2011

We have been going to this restaurant for the past six years. The owner Leonardo is a fantastic host. Three years ago he totally renovated the restaurant and it is lovely. If you like to sit outside you will be sitting under a portico that must be hundreds of years old. He has many specialties. However his pumkin ravioli can not be touched! He is an expert on all wines and has any and all wines avaliable in the restaurant. I promise you that you will enjoy anything that is presented to you here. Make sure to ask for Leonardo!
