We stayed there already quite a few times and we always had a great time. If you are lucky and have a Bungalow with Sea-View you can really have an outstanding sunset. The service is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant of the Hotel is also very good. The Animation is also not too bad. The beds could be more confortable. In general it is really a good place to switch off and relax. I can highly recommend it.
I went there with my family. We stayed in a triple room that needed refurbishment: in particular the wallpaper and the overall room upholstery was really bad. The bathroom was old, too. Anyway, the room had very good air conditioning and was not too small. The service was good and cleaning ok. The beach was beautiful and the food in the restaurant of the beach very good while the restaurant of the hotel was only ok. The swimming pool was also very good for kids with its fancy sliding. Overall ok and i can say that we enjoyed the vacation but more for the very nice beach and clean sea.
We ordred a standard trippleroom and thought we would get a seperate bedroom....NO! The room was ugly and just as small as a usual dobblebedroom. We orderd a trippleroom because we were traveling with our two year old. The room had a little balcony which was right under alot of trees and we sa right into a hill that was just plain ugly. We never sat out on the balcony like we usually do on holidays.
The playgourds were nice for the kids and the food at the restaurants were okey, nothing fancy, but you wouldn't expect it in a familyplace. Being a family place you would think they started dinner alittle earlier then the usual itlalien places, but no. The signs said 18.30-21.30 but they didn't open until 19.00. Which is a little late for small kids who were starving by that time.
90% of the guests are german, so all the staff also talk german. But most of them manage okey with english also. We preferd to take the buss into town and eat there.
The beach is beautiful...perfect for kids! Alot of sellers thouh, that walk pass 50 times a day and want you to buy their beachtowels annd handbags. The pools were also a good place to be with the kids, the slide was popular.
One of the good things aboout the hotel were the cleaning ladies, they were very sweet and always had our room ready for when our son had to sleep in the day.
We stayed for a week in the middle of June. The location is wonderful, right on the beach. The beach is perfect for families with small children (also lovely for those lucky people not travelling with littlies!). The bungalows are adequate - we had one that slept 6 for four of us which was a good size. It had a nice shady balcony. Our only complaint was that the floor was not very clean.
The playground was also great, nice and shady with lots to do for a range of ages.
I was a little disappointed with the choice of food on the menus, although the service was good. There is a well stocked mini-market on site which is not too expensive if you want to make some of your own meals.
The resort is run by a Swiss company and mainly caters for German and Italian speakers, but a enough staff speak English to get by.
There is no air-con and no fans in the bungalows and it can get quite hot at night. There is quite a lot of noise outside - loud nocturnal birds and a nearby train track.
Overall, good value for money and perfect for small children.
We spent our best holiday since a while in this outstanding located resort in the Maremma. New management is increasing quality standards and you can see it beginning with the newly refurbished bungalows literally "on the beach!", food represent the territory in a reasonably priced offer within Restaurant, Pizzeria and beach bars. Staff is overall friendly and corteous. We already reserved our holiday for NeXT summer 2011! Unfortunately couldn't reserve for 2012...:-(!
We stayed as guests of a local sailing club during a regatta. .
Golfo del Sole is a Swiss run holiday village built alongside (I would guess) a good quarter of a mile of a beautifully tended, safe and sheltered golden sand beach. The site is very fully equipped with swimming pool, bar and entertainment area, childrens play areas, tennis, a supermarket, laundry facilities, restaurants etc.
We were accommodated in a four bed apartment at the end of the development closest to the sailing Club. No fans were provided and there was no air conditioning. So there was no alternative but to keep windows open and sweat through the very hot nights to the sound of freight trains and the Milan - Rome express. My wife - who is fairly stoical in these matters said that she had never been so continually hot in her life. And we have lived in Asia and the Arabian Gulf. The apartments on the ridge next to the mediterranean would have been beautifully quuiet and would probably had more breeze in the evening.
All the other aspects of the development were pretty much as expected in a family orientated holiday village. Every apartment has its own numbered parasol and sun loungers on the beach and it was delightful to be able to go and have a swim in the sea every day after racing (and my judging responsibilities) were over at the club.
Breakasts in the central restaurant were OK - a reasonable buffet - but quite expensive. Lunches and dinners were either at the sailing club or in Follonica.
There were so many good things about the Golfo del Sole that would really make a family holiday there really enjoyable. Just a shame about the lack of air - conditioning and the railway line for the apartments on the eastern side of the development.
