We stayed here for 3 nights recently. Hotel is centrally located on the lake front. Check-in was quick and friendly.
We had booked a room with a lake view and it seemed there were only 2 of these rooms available so we were lucky we booked well in advance. We had a shared balcony to the front of the building overlooking the lake. Since these rooms are to the front of the building, do expect a little noise/chatter outside from people using the restuarant's outdoor seating. It was no problem or disturbance for us.
Our room(s) was a family room - one room with double bed, a room with 2 single beds and a seperate bathroom. All were basic in design but spotless clean. Air-Con was great, though situated over the bed meant it had to be off at night to avoid discomfort! A mini-fridge would have made the room perfect for us!
Despite having the 'Do not Disturb' sign on our room door, staff tried to access our room a couple of times - once to water flowers on the balcony (and use our bathroom for water) and another time to check something with the TV remote (not sure why!).
Breakfast was basic but did the job if you're not fussy - cereals, breads, ham, cheese and (very sweet) juices. Ends at 10.30am.
We ate in the hotel's restuarant one evening. Prices were good plus a 10% discount for hotel guests. Waiting staff could have been friendlier here though.
We needed to park our car so availed of the hotel's discount at a 'nearby' communal car park. There's no road access to the hotel so we needed to park in another paid car park first (on Via Columbo) until we checked in and received directions and permit for the hotel car park (Via M.Polo / Via Preare). It was €6 per day and located approx 800m from the hotel. It took about 10 mins to walk back into town. A free shuttle bus does run by the car park every 30mins but takes the long scenic route through the whole town so best to walk if you can. We needed to leave one passport in the reception safe as security for the parking permit and got it back upon return of it.
Also because we stayed more than 2 nights, we could avail of free access to the nearby Garda Aqua swimming pool, sauna facility. We didnt have time to use it but it's a nice feature of the stay.
Check-out time was 10.30am according to our booking details but a leafet from the hotel upon arrival stated 10am (which is early sinice breakfast only ends at 10.30).
Overall, we would stay here again and would recommend the hotel to friends. We paid 50c city tax per person per night on top of our hotel fee. Ideally, a later check-out time of 11am/11.30am would improve this further.

Room Tip: A room with lake view ideally.

We spent sometime with friends we'd made who were stating here who said the rooms tho basic were great. They ate and drank here every night so it definitely had something our own accom didn't ( the dancing waiter was both hilarious and most importantly charming and did everything with a smile)

A yank called Rod plays at the bar 2/3 evenings a week and provided excellent entertainment on our visit

A place we've key the details of along with Hotel Roma for when we visit Garda town again.

Five of us stayed in this quaint little hotel for 5 nights from 7th June 2013. From check-in to check -out we were greeted warmly and well taken care of by Claudia and the rest of the staff, with a special mention to the two ladies who kept our rooms clean throughout our stay. Rooms are not luxurious but they are clean, safe and more than adequate for our needs. Breakfast was simple but delicious, with the added bonus of being able to take it out to the lakeside to enjoy the magnificent view and the morning sunshine.

I agree with a previous reviewer that the rooms do lack soundproofing, but in my case, the person in the room next to mine was clearly particularly sensitive, as I was subject to them knocking the wall because I had my television on. However, this was nothing to do with the hotel or its staff, who made my first stay in Garda so wonderful that I cannot wait to visit again.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are well worth it.

Passing through, I found this quaint little hotel for a sweet price (€38,00 for a single room).
Making a reservation was easy: they can be reached via Skype, and they (Kristina and Klaudia) speak good English.

The hotel is located near the lake, so no traffic noise.
The room was clean, sufficiently spacious and contained a comfortable (single) bed. Having experienced clammy shower curtains at other places, I appreciated the small shower cubicle with a proper door.
Wireless is complimentary and good enough for browsing the net.

The only downside I have to share is the level of sound isolation. Conversations in adjacent rooms can be overheard, and the squeaky floor boards woke me up when the upstairs neighbour started walking around (at 5:30 in the morning).
Still, these are minor inconveniences, unless you are sensitive to auditory influences.

Truly a (nearly) perfect place.

We stayed at this hotel 19 -29 September 2012 and found the staff to be very friendly and professional. we stayed in room 14 which has a great view of the Lake. The room is fairly basic but clean and has a flat screen TV with BBC which if you want to keep up with the goings on in the UK is good. One downside no fridge to keep drinks cool. I took my own travel kettle so was able to make a black coffee or green tea after some great day trips using the ferry which was about a 5 minute walk away. The food was always good but be prepared for a european style breakfast, cheese, meats, hard boiled eggs, yoghurts and fruits but I like this style of breakfast. All in all I would definitely return to this hotel

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a lake view we did and were not disappointed.

We paid about £570 for BB for a week. THis compares with £1265 for the Excelsior up the road. The Excelsior is a nicer hotel but not by that much! The big thing going for the All` Ancora is its position which is right on the waterfront. If you miss a pool there are plenty of places along the front where you cab swim. You can even hire small boats at some of them. Be warned that the transfer buses stop at the bus station because they cannot get to the hotel (It may be different for taxis) so you have to get your cases through the old town. (This only takes about 3-4 mins). The hotel is basic which is fine because everthing you need is right outside the door. The door to the hotel opens out onto an alleway in the old town - you can`t get closer than that! The staff are very informal and friendly and the rooms are kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast is basic but OK - they could do with a toaster. We only had to pay a total fo 7 euros city tax too!) I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel if you want a base and easy access to all the things Garda has to offer.
Its is easy to get around on buses they go from Riva at the head of the lake to Verona. The cost of a return ticket from Garda to Riva is about £8. I think you can then change buses in Riva and go down the other side of the lake. You should be warned that the cost of ferries can be quite expensive. We paid something like 55euros (return for 2) to go to Sirmoine. You are on the lake for a really nice hour each way - but the cost for a family of four could be substantial if you want to do a few trips.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a balcony

Small hotel, clean, basic, GREAT location in town centre. Owners are friendly, some people may think they are "brusco" but that's just Italians! They let us leave our bags there on the last day quite happily. This is a 2 star place - therefore do not expect 24hour reception, mini bars, pool etc. What you DO get is a clean room, good aircon, basic but ample breakfast selection and a key to let yourself back in when reception closes at night.
Restaurant is very good and a bit less posh than others in Garda, waiters speak excellent English and are very helpful. The singer we saw there was Rod Alder who is a regular performer there and excellent dinner entertainment.
Overall this is a nice little hotel, cheap, cheerful, clean and helpful - if you are a snob or require more mod cons or cannot cope with the busy Italian nature it may not be for you.
The ONLY thing I would have liked is a fridge in the room.
