I havent stayed in Garda before and the town itself is really nice, the hotel is in a very good location Cant complain about that, and about 10-15 minute walk to the Lake. I stayed half Board at this hotel, firstly you have an assigned seat that you have for your entire stay in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner this is a good idea, but you ONLY get the evening meal, you DO NOT get any drinks included in your meal. The food however was very nice and you get alot of it which was great and the people in the restaurant were very nice too. Breakfast was okay which you can choose from tea, coffee, cereal, fruitbread etc.
The room was alright, but seems like its fading a little as well as the overall hotel and could do with a little maintenance, but there was some great views from the balcony. Also you will always find a deckchair at the swimming pool, but the pool itself was freezing!
There was a lot of different cultures at the hotel ie Languages, and the staff could understand both English and the German Speaking customers.
As I am quite young, I like to have wi-fi but was not paying 4 euros a day at the hotel to use it, so a tip would be to walk to the lake there is free wifi all around there :)
An okay trip overall and the reps were really nice people (inghams)

A nice enough hotel which was probably ahead of its time when originally built but has been allowed to fall behind the times somewhat over the last decade.
Situated about ten minutes walk due north of the lake it commands quite a nice spot with a lot of the rooms looking out across the lake all of which have good sized balconies.
Most of the other rooms have a pleasant view of one or other of the two swimming pools.
The bedrooms are well maintained and of a reasonable size as are the shower rooms(no baths unfortunately).
Air conditioning is available but only during July/August I believe.
The dining experience at the hotel is satisfactory albeit lacking any adventure regarding food on offer and is far too regimental.
All in all we had a nice stay and all of the staff are very friendly and approachable.

Room Tip: Request a room on the top floor with a lake view. There are only three storeys but only the top flo...

My husband and I stayed at this nightmare hotel September2013.Food was disgusting rooms were dark and dowdy. The towels were like thin teatowels.Staff were very unpleasant and not very helpful.Just as well Lake Garda was beautiful. We also went on tour to Dolomites fantastic.Venice was another fab experience. We decided to do the whole Venice tour which included the Lagoon history tour gondola trip and dinner in the evening fantastic time.St Pauls Square was awesome all the wonderful buildings. Then at midnight I felt like cinderella having to return to ghastly Hotel Palme.Inghams tour operaters should take this hotel out of brochure as it was very very over rated in their brochure.

Room Tip: there were no good rooms in my opinion

we would not book this hotel ever, ever again!
it was okay/endurable (so, so ) for 2 nights but not for more: room was terribly small, bathroom was even smaller and dirty, balcony was nice! and location to the lake very close.
breakfast: okay, no one starved to death, dinner: was in my view good, my husband´s view: acceptable.
service in dining: good, friendly!!!

Room Tip: No, don´t stay there ,,,,

This hotel falls below the standard we expected and experienced previously from supposedly 3 star establishments in Italy. We have travelled to Italy many times across a range of hotels from 5* to 3*. Here is my objective assessment.

All the problems of this tired hotel stem from an obvious lack of investment over the years. The basic construction is such that sound carries through the thin concrete structure with no effective soundproofing - even the floor coverings are thin. As other reviewers have noted, you become intimate with your neighbours' movements. This is compounded by the problem with the beds.

The BEDS. Our bed was a tired old timber framed bed with 3 of its wood sphere finials missing. It had a simple metal sprung insert, over which a sheet of plywood was laid, probably when they bought replacement mattresses. The mattress is OK but every movement on the bed caused the ply to pivot on the creaky springs and hit the frame. The result is that there is a constant cacophony of creaks every time a body moves on a bed - not just your bed in your room! Many people were complaining about the beds.

The bedroom/bathroom was about the standard size for an Italian hotel of this rank. Furnishings were poor. In addition to the make do and mend bed there was a light weight writing bureau with 3 shallow drawers and a lightweight wardrobe with a random selection of domestic hangers. A common veranda for all rooms runs along the length of the hotel.

The LOCATION is OK, an easy 5 minute stroll to the resort centre along a straight road.

The hotel has a swimmable pool and use of another pool in the adjoining sister hotel apartments and stands within its own grounds.

The FOOD was, on the whole, good value for money. we ate in every night on our half board deal - something we have not done in some other Italian hotels.

Breakfast is the usual buffet offering but the breakfast coffee was the worst I have ever experienced in any hotel on any continent - an appalling error for an Italian hotel.

Dinner is in 2 sittings 18:30 and 20:00, you pre-select the next day's dinner choice each day. Buffet salad was good but let down by unimaginative reserving of the unused previous day's vegetables. The pasta course always had 2 options, always good. The secondo was a meat or fish choice, usually good and then a buffet desert to finish.

Other indicators:
Too few staff doing too much work, especially in the restaurant. Despite this our service was friendly and efficient - a testament to their hard work.
Front desk staff friendly and helpful.
Cleaning staff efficient - the room was clean.
I counted 5 different cutlery styles in use; deserts served on saucers from the various crockery sets
Décor in need of a lick of paint and repairs.
The communal WCs (or at least the men's wc) was fitted with that lurid pink sanitary ware so popular with 1970s British curry houses.

We had low expectations but were not looking for a 'quality hotel on the lake' experience. All we wanted was a base from which to explore the lake for a week. We sort of knew what we were buying for the money but were still a little disappointed.

Would we return? No. Would we confidently recommend the hotel to a friend? No. Will we return to the Italian lakes? Yes!

Room Tip: Avoid 1st floor, especially rooms 119 to 153 unless you are a fan of over-amplified karaoke cabaret...

Refer to Alex K review, this is spot on and our room normally had an iffy smell. The towels and bath mat were changed daily for the first four days and not changed at all for the last three days. Whilst the sun beds are free they are rock hard with no cushions, we used them for a couple of hours using our towels but they were too uncomfortable and we had to shift to chairs. The food was OK but generally not hot. There is only one place in Garda where you can change Pounds Sterling to Euros, the rate was 1.09 Euros to the pound with 4% commission. Be warned. Garda is quiet in the evenings so if you want a bit of entertainment in the evenings this should be considered.

I stayed at this hotel in June 13 with my husband & daughter. We enjoyed this hotel very much. Rooms were ok a bit old fashioned but comfortable all rooms have a balcony which is a plus. Food was good enough although we felt that Pork was served almost every second night. Garda is beautiful as always with lots to do and see it was our daughters first visit so we had a great time showing her around Venice is stunning. Weather was good really warm & sunny. I would stay at this hotel again good value for money staff were friendly too.

Room Tip: If you want value for money and a hotel close to shops, lake etc ., Palme is it.
