The hotel Europa is a small 18 room family run hotel. My husband and myself stayed here for two weeks and had a great time. The hotel is right by the lake and very close to the ferry dock and bus station so getting around was very easy. We visited lots of other towns on the lake and also Verona and Venice. The weather was great. Continental breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and always fresh. Fabio, the owner's son, speaks very good English and was very helpful and gave us some good tips on where to eat. Our room was average size with a TV - BBC1 and BBC2 in English - no air conditioning but a ceiling fan which did the job. We booked a room with a balcony which turned out to be our own terrace with table and chairs and sun loungers which got the sun all day. Fantastic. Our room was cleaned and towels replaced every day. Would definitely stay here again.

Garda is a fabulous place and the Europa is very well situated, clean and with a pleasant garden terrace. We had a super holiday, but would strongly concur with the negative comments of others on the proprietor - who supervised a sparse breakfast and made comments about the 'starving in Africa' of another English couple (in italian but they worked out what she was saying) when they left a small bowl of cornflakes uneaten due to their concerns about the milk. English speaking guests were pretty much treated like nuisances messing up her tidy hotel. Italians, on the other hand, appeared to be welcomed and treated with courtesy. Thomson, who we booked through, should raise this with the hotel as it is clearly an issue.

The resort of Garda is beautiful and the company we travelled with, Crystal, very good and helpful but the owner of the hotel spoiled our holiday by being very unpleasant. One of the mornings we had to get up early for a trip we misunderstood the time and when we arrived down 10mins early she was really nasty to us. Apparently she had done the same to other English speaking people. She continued to be like this through our holiday and she stands and watchs you every morning during breakfast like a school teacher would with pupils. At the end of the week we heard other guests refer to her as a dragon.

This is a lovely hotel with a great location, spotlessly clean, so its a great pity that it was let down by the breakfast and rather unfriendly atmosphere. The breakfast was basic to say the least - no fresh fruit, no toast and the same 2 cereals and 1 fruit juice every monring became a little boring for 10 days - just a little variety would be appreciated. It might help matters if we were greeted with a smile - the breakfast wasa cheerless affair with an unsmiling and often scowling proprieter overlooking the room - I found the owner rather forbidding and certainly not very helpful ie a request for a new battery for the remore control for the ceiling fan was greeted by "do you need the fan"???

A beautiful, mid-sized hotel with great facilities. Gargnano is a pretty little town with incredible views of Lake Garda and the mountains. The hotel not only has clean, nice-sized rooms, and a spectacular rooftop deck, it had one of the best breakfasts in all of Italy.

The biggest bonus of this hotel, however, is its access to their neighboring rental property which has a large, beautiful swimming pool. Just across the road, the Frassine family operates several very nice apartments. The apartment property is set on a wide open park with 5 or 6 kinds of fruit trees, a large lawn and the pool which overlooks Lake Garda. You will never find facilities like this at this price. And the family operating the hotel could not be nicer.

Thank you, Sylvana!

  • Liked — Great location, pool and breakfast
  • Disliked — Traffic getting to and from Gargnano is horrific!!!

As has been said before a small 18 room family run bed & breakfast hotel. Very clean and basic. It has a wonderful position almost on the lake, a short walk through the garden brings you inot a park and a further 20 yards and you are on the lake.
Fabio the son of the owner does speak English and we found him very helpful. There is a small bar, (the cheapest in Garda we found) and Fabio makes the best and cheapest cappicuno in Garda. There is a sunbathing area on top of the hotel, shame it has no chairs on beds up there. Lovely seating areas in the garden to relax in. Turn right outside the garden and in 5 minutes you are in the main square. We think the hotel has the best position in Garda, on Fridays the market is right outside the hotel and from time to time there are open air concerts at the end of the garden in a little theatre. In all a very pleasant break and would recommend to anyone that wants a quite week away.

Great little family run hotel. Very good deal from Crystal Holidays and didnt know what to expect but a super holiday at the Europa was had . Room was smallish but spotlessly clean, no air conditioning but a great celing fan that did the trick. Usual continental breakfast and lovely conservatory overlooking Lake Garda. Well managed garden with views to Lake with plenty chairs and recliners. Small bar in reception area and very good value eg; glass of wine 1 euro! Only one gripe about this hotel, TV in rooms had 39 channels but not one of them was English speaking! Would definatly go again.

  • Liked — friendly family run.
  • Disliked — Lack of Brit TV!!
