“Charming ,Romantic !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 September 2013

This was our first visit to Garda and it wont be the last.We enjoyed everything about the resort and the Hotel was lovely. We had a lake view room , the views were stunning from the 3rd Floor. The Breakfast was good , the room was small but lovely , fresh towels and beds were made up every day.The location was perfect , yes its lively at night , but most of the musical activity ends around 11.30pm , so its not a problem. The only downside is the lack of a pool , balcony or seating area to relax after a days sightseeing. We swam in the lake most days , there are several shingle beaches close by.
Be careful at restaurants , they charge 4 euros for the cover charge of 2 bread rolls !
Try the Spritz Aperol drink , really refreshing and not too expensive.

Cant wait to get back , but will book a hotel with a pool next time .

Room Tip: Lake view rooms are best !

We stayed here from 3-10 August 2013. We had a room with a balcony with a fantastic view of the lake (which we paid extra for) and free WiFi. The rooms were a good size, very clean and the air con was very powerful. It was noisy at night but that was because it was full of people eating and socializing which is to be expected in that location. The restaurant is mainly fish, and the waiter was very obliging when we wanted to change some of the ingredients in the dishes we ordered, which were delicious. We were still charged 2 euro per table even though we were staying there.

We stayed here in July and really enjoyed our holiday. The hotel was basic but clean and the air conditioning was very welcome. The breakfasts were delicious - there was a great choice each morning with meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, pastries, cakes, eggs, croissants and a variety of breads. It was wonderful to sit and eat a leisurely breakfast looking out over the lake. It is really a restaurant with rooms but we found this worked well for us. There are plenty of places to sit nearby and the lake is great for swimming.

Room Tip: If you can try and get a room with a lake view.

Firstly those who complain re rooms need to have a long hard look at there selves. Its a 2 star BandB. The rooms are easily decent for that rating. The furniture all comes from 70s and bathrooms possibly 60s.But that's it's charm. It all works is solid and comfortable. Aircon is vital in this climate in July August and its fine. In fact it ensures a good nights sleep as you can shut the windows and eliminate any noise

On that point those who moan of noise- dont book a hotel on the busiest promenade innNorthern Italy! The hotel is about 8 yards from the lakeside. Surely people can't be suprised it's very very popular and therefore the noise of thousands chating is audible.

Firstly the good news. The breakfast waiter is very attentive and efficient. The cleaners are lovely ladies and nothing is too much trouble and they do their job meticulously . The bar man always had a cheery good night as you wind past the bar to the tiny lift which for some reason they switch off at 12 or 12.30 at night.

The owner occasionally says ciao.

However the rest of the staff are the rudest most ignorant people I have experienced in literally thousands of hotel stays.didnt bother us as we just avoided the restaurant after lunching there on arrival. Not only did they refuse the 10% guests discount but they also charged us - guests of the hotel a staggering 2 euro each for eating there on top of the already highest prices of most of the surrounding cafes/ bars.

If you want to stay on Gardas prom we suggest from feedback from all the people we spoke to Hotel Roma next door to Gardinetto. As cheap and the waiters always greeted us brilliantly as we walked past every night even though we'd only had a single coffee there on first evening. People stating there said the staff were like that 24/7.

Gardinetto is a restaurant with the inconvenience of paying guests, that's certainly how you are made to feel. Breakfast is extra ordinarily poor.stale bread horrible croissants the only good feature was plentiful sweet strawberries

If you can't find anywhere as cheap as Guadinetto and want a lakeside location, yes use it as a bedroom in a great position, ignore the rude staff at night and buy yourself a decent loaf or croissant the night before for breakfast the next day!

The location of the hotel was fantastic, right on the lake front where you can sit outside to eat breakfast and watch the world go by. The choice for breakfast was good. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The room service was good with clean, fresh towels every day. The only downside was the rooms were very small, the bed was so close to the wardrobe that the door wouldn't open fully. The weather was so hot on the holiday but the air con was excellent

Room Tip: If possible choose a room at the front or the one on the side with a balcony

The Giardinetto has a fantastic position and we had a lake view room which is well worth the extra. Stayed second week of May and service, breakfast and room were good. Spotlessly clean rooms, friendly staff and room service. Excellent value for money and would return again. A wide variety of food available at breakfast. Prime location for visiting shops, sea front, bus station and boat pier. Crystal rep was available when required.

We stayed at a different hotel, but we were drawn to the restaurant by the big display of fish on the outside boards, so my wife and I decided to try it. The menus we were given did not seem to resemble the boards at all, my wife ordered a lasagna and i ordered grilled sea bass. The drinks took forever to turn up, as did the food, when it did the fish was lukewarm at best. the lasagna had little to no meat in it at all and looked just like a few pasta sheets with some reddish sauce in between. The fish was covered in so much oil it took away from the taste of the fish. to top it all we tried for nearly 20 mins to get the attention of a waiter just to pay the bill.

Lake Garda is a very beautiful place, if you go there do now spoil your stay by eating at this establishment
