“Fantastic stay at Hotel Roma”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We stayed for 7 nights in July 2014 and had a brilliant time travelling as a couple. The best thing about this hotel is its location. Situated right on the lake front it is also right in the middle of the shops restaurants and gelaterias with little narrow streets to the rear and the pedestrian walkway that runs to neighbouring Bardelino to the front. Despite being in the heart of Garda the hotel is very quiet and peaceful as is the resort generally. The rooms are quite basic but spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly - from the reception staff to the maids who not only kept the room clean and tidy but also were so helpful and cheerful allowing me to practice my Italian on them! The breakfast is served outside which was delightful. The waiters were also very friendly and even served breakfast for us early one morning when we were leaving to go the Venice for the day. A special mention for Benito behind the counter who worked so hard and always was pleasant to us. The area where breakfast is served turns into a gelateria as soon as breakfast is over and serves the best ice cream in Garda in my opinion. The bus station is less than 5 mins away and you can hire bikes near to the station also. The ferry port is also within 5 mins walk. We would return to Hotel Roma tomorrow given the chance and can't recommend the hotel highly enough if you are considering a stay in Garda

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake

We have been to the Roma for lunch whilst on holiday in garda and cannot recommend it enough, the staff are "BRILLIANT",nothing is too much trouble. The quality of the food is excellent, and the icecreams to die for,I never choose one out the menu.I go to the icecream counter and choose what I want,"Heaven".And we drink there every night, even if we call some where else first. And you get exactly what you pay for.WONDERFUL.If you are ordering pizza and a salad I would advise you share if it's for two.Cannot wait to return. We did not stay in the hotel so cannot coment on the rooms.

We stopped here for lunch twice during our week at Garda. The staff were great and the nibbles especially the olives were tasty served with the spritz we were drinking. We then enjoyed their scrummy strawberry and ice cream sundae served with two spoons, the pizza is very large and you only need one to share. Accompanied by their large green salad.

My wife and I visited Garda for the day as we were staying at another part of the lake called Porto Dusano. While in Garda we stopped at the caffe Roma and had a great lunch. I had the Prosciutto Melone and my wife had Bruschette Napoletara and drinks, bread, olives etc. and it all came to a reasonable 22euros excellent Bauer for money. Would highly recommend.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Hotel Roma (June 4-14 2014)

Hotel Roma is a small family run 21bedroomed hotel on the Lakeside in Garda town. We were in room 44, a roof top room. First impression was the room was rather small. However it did have a kingsize bed. When booking we asked for a room with a lake view terrace and on first entry we were under the impression that it was rear facing. However when we walked through the balcony door we realised the balcony ran the full length of the hotel to a spacious lake facing terrace which enjoyed the sun from sunrise to sunset. We travelled with Thomson and at the welcome meeting we were given a walkabout tour of Garda shops and restaurants. The reps gave us a 10% discount card which we could use at various shops and restaurants but unfortunately this did not include the Hotel Roma so we tended to eat most nights at other hotels. When we did eat at the Hotel Roma we found the meals very tasty and very reasonable, their wine being the best value for money. One of the reasons we didn't teat in our hotel was because the menu was quite limited. Meat dishes - steaks, chicken, escalopes were not included. The breakfast was totally continental - no hot food but having said that the options available were varied and very good. Overall the hotel was very clean, friendly, relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke good English.

Room Tip: Room 44 is ideal if you like sunshine and heat. From waking up the sun shone into the room. Because...

The hotel Roma is run by a local family who are exceptionally warm and inviting. The hotel has great views and is location right in the heart of Garda. There's also a fun cafe/bar/gelateria downstairs, where I spoke to a charming Danish waitress named Julia. Would strongly recommend!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the lake worth it, but the non-lake-view rooms are also good.
