“Noisy room - espresso not included in breakfast - hidden fees.”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

Our room was in front of the sea but because of bad isolation, we had terrible nights. We took 2 nights and the room wasn't cleaned the one day we had. Espresso coffee is not included in the breakfast, you have to pay extra for that. Finally, we were kindly advise to use the parking lot of the hotel even though we had a parking spot on the street. Everybody forgot to tell us it wasn't free (10 EUR for one night). I felt like a waking wallet. Do not stay at that place.

La Riva was a last second choice, because the alternative accommodation reserved from home turned out to be too sedated. We found the hotel in our Lonely Planet guide, showed up in the reception and were lucky enough to get two adjoining double rooms with shared bath on the top floor for our family of four at a reasonable price.
Hotel and staff were charming, location unbeatable on the sea front. Our only objection was a rather simple breakfast buffet.
The city itself proved less charming with a lot of tourists and only little true Sicilian authenticity (as far as we could see - or find - it).

Poor breakfast is the only objection, and fact that every morning we have a same food for breakfast, but and this is ok when you have an amazing view to the see and bay from your restourant. :)
Everything else is so good.

This is a good little hotel on a rather noisy seafront, with lovely rooms furnished with old-style, dark-wood furniture - a nice change from the usual cheap rubbish you get in budget hotels. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the common areas are uniquely decorated, showing real care and attention to detail. We particularly liked the surreal concrete tables and chairs outside. The bus stop to Isola Bella is nearby too (this is a nicer place to swim than G Naxos itself, we thought).

Giving this hotel a 4 star for the views, friendliness of the staff and antiques. Great base to explore the area and close to good places to eat out. Ask for a front room for the sea view. Outside seating area for breakfast was lovely.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the front

This is a quirky hotel, full of curios (some might be antiques, but many of the things which decorate all the rooms and corridors are rather younger). The breakfast room on the 4th floor has a seaview: what a treat. The coffee is good and there was a good range of foods in the buffet.
If you climb right up to the roof (I'm not entirely sure you're supposed to do this....) you can see Etna.
For the first time in our holiday, my friend and I had a proper twin room rather than beds which could be pulled apart to be singles or shoved into a double. At the end of a week's tour of Sicily, staying at this friendly hotel was the icing on the cake.

The hotel have amazing location in the center of hapenings. The hotel staf is very friendly and they try to give the filing to their guests that they are very welcom . And I must not forget to give them and other people of Giardini Naxos the best rating for their warmth and kindness. Me and my wife visit Giardini in the sommer, so it was very hot, but the beach is located just 50 m away from the hotel so we didn't had te problem to cool ourselfs . The town is amazing, well very crouded in the season, but there are so meny things to do and to see that we where very satisfaid and we will may be going there again. And must not forget the food, it was amazing, very delishes and always enough.
