It is a small hotel in front of the beach, in the center of Naxos. The rooms are little bit small with wooden furniture. Breakfast: nothing special, ordinary continental breakfast: bread, butter, marmalade, juice, milk or coffee. Dinner, you can not choose what you want to eat; you are waiting the waiter to serve your meal. First pasta and after that peace of meat with vegetable, one fruit for desert.
Beach in front of the hotel is very small. If you want to sunbath at the beautiful part of the beach with sun beds, you will have to walk about 10-15 min on the sun. You can manage it. Two sun bed with umbrella from 9 to 14 euros.
At night you can walk trough the main street of Naxos full with cafe shops, restaurants and gelateria. Riva Hotel is on the mail street. Another option is to catch bus to the Taormina, beautiful ancient city.

Large welcoming lobby and friendly faces greeted us when we arrived late one night. The hotel is right on the water; both our rooms had balconies although one had a superior view of the water. The rooms are a little dated and the decor is a little overdone, but everything is clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were nice. Being on the water with the street in front means there may be some noise, but the double windows and heavy drapesdampen that. Very nice breakfast overlooking the water.

Situated right on the sea front of Giardine Naxos this hotel is an absolutely fine place to stay if you can't afford Tiormina. It's a 15 minute drive to Tiormina, the rooms are on the small side but comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and those at the front come with a sea view balcony which is a nice bonus (although something you'd feel cheated without in this location). The real plus of this place is the free reserved parking space right outside the hotel (if you haven't tried to park in Italy before this really is a plus).

Giardini Naxos is a typical Italian tourist seaside town, tacky and gaudy with lots of average bars, cafes and restaurants with-in a few steps of the hotel. If this is your thing, or you want a well priced alternative to Tiormina or Mt Etna, then you won't go wrong. We paid 80 euros a night for a double with balcony and (not great) breakfast, much more than this and you'd do better looking elsewhere.

Stayed at La Riva hotel during Easter break April 2009,

What a gem! A lovely family run hotel on the sea front with a few parking spaces.
The rooms are decorated in a greek style,

All mod cons and we got a room with a sea view, it was just beautiful.

I found myself getting up early just to sit on the terrace of the breakfast room enjoying the breathtaking view of the ocean along with Toarminos up high.

A bargain at the price!!

Would definately stay here again!

Picked this while driving around, and checking our guidebooks. There are so many hotels in this area that you would never not find a room, and we were fortunate that this place had a vacancy, and that they were so welcoming. Once inside, it's all ornately decorated with many traditional Sicilian pieces of furniture and art, or it's a hoarders paradise, depending on your point of view. There is ceratinly so much to take in. Our room overlooked the sea, which was tiny (not unusual for coastal Sicilian towns), and the beds were not the most comfortable, but it sufficed, and the views, again, were wonderful. breakfast too, included in the reasonable rate, was just like the decor - there was so much of it! You won't lose any weight travelling around Sicily. But as with many places where perhaps the rooms are not the best (although very clean), the best thing is the attitude and friendliness of the hosts. This I find, always makes a tremendous difference, and can be pivotal in assessing a hotel. The people here were wonderful.

The La Riva was by far our favourite hotel during our trip to Sicily, great location, just across the beach, lots of restaurants nearby. We were impressed by the decor on each floor and the lobby/bar area: the paintings, statutes, antique furniture and tiled marble floors. The breakfast was excellent, the 4th floor dining room has a great view of the ocean, and the staff were very friendly. We drove to Mt. Etna (were able to get free parking reserved for hotel guests). Taormina was just a short bus ride away, we were glad we stayed in Giardini Naxos, especially at the La Riva which is so much cheaper and nearer to the beach. Only glitch was the loud noise from the machinery where they were constructing a pier out in the water. It may bother some people in the morning, but we were hardly in our room except to sleep at night when it was relatively quiet, we did not even hear the street noise from our room. We higly recommend the Hotel La Riva, would come back here again ourselves.

Our room was small but it faced the ocean on 2nd floor. It was clean. There were some nice antiques in our room and the bathroom was adequate. The deck was large enough to provide a nice place to sip wine and watch the people promenade in the evenings. The breakfast included a wide variety of meat, cheese, fruit, breads etc. The cheery /set-up waiter hustles about greeting and singing to himself.
