Patria Palace Hotel

I can't say enough good things about the Patria Palace......old style courteous and personal service, beautiful art-deco style rooms, a window overlooking the most beautiful church in Lecce......and all right in the middle of the Historic center of this charming Baroque city.

We were in fact upgraded to a "jr. suite" which was incredibly spacious and beautiful; although I'm sure the regular rooms were also very nice. The breakfast buffets were bountiful and delicious; we also had dinner at the hotel one night, which was excellent. We ate outside in a small garden patio, candlelit, romantic...we could see the foot traffic come and go; the bill was slightly more than the usual trattoria, but the service was impeccable and the food delicious. Well worth it.

The only problem is if you are driving, it's not that easy to find the hotel....however, numerous signs put up by the hotel around the city center help you navigate. Another plus is they will put the car in their garage and bring it out when you need it again. And anyplace in the city you want to visit is just walking distance away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the church. On the weekends, during the summer, you might hear some noi...

This is a great four star hotel in the heart of historic Lecce.
Nice big rooms with bathrooms to match. The rooms are quiet
because the hotel is in an historic building and they just don't
build them like this anymore. The rooms are a very good price and
the location is brilliant. They have a lovely art deco bar that is just perfect
for that late night drink.

A bit difficult to get to by car, but very well worth the effort. Excellent location from which we easily walked, even myself using a walking stick, all over the town within the old walls, to see the many Baroque churches and other buildings, most excellent castle, and delightful public gardens and 2 roman theatres. The room was very satisfactorily comfortable with a well lit large bathroom, and a rooftop terrace on which to bask in the sun. Ate in the hotel restaurant once for dinner which was of notably good quality, as was breakfast every morning, though there are many and varied restaurants nearby. All the staff at the Patria Palace were very helpful and courteous in all respects. Lecce is pleasantly full of people in the evening, and very safe. The city and the Patria Palace are both warmly recommended.

We stayed in this hotel 4 nights so that gave us the chance to enjoy the city and rate the hotel as a perfect place to start visiting Lecce. It's located right in front of the magnificient baroque Basilica di Santa Croce (Church of the Holy Cross) which you can enjoy a close view right from the terrace of the hotel. It's 2 blocks from Piazza Sant'Oronzo, the main square and meating point of the city. The staff was very helpful and professional as expected from a 5 stars hotel. The room was at the first floor and it was very spacious as well as the bathroom. Breakfast was superb. Everything is at a walking distance: the beautiful baroque palaces, the archeological area in Piazza S.Oronzo (where they give concerts in the summer nights), the Duomo, the beautiful shops and stylish boutiques, and the excellent restaurants (our favourite was the "Osteria degli Spiriti", right off the walls that sorround the historical center).

We stayed one night in June, having spent five days at the Masseria Torre Maizza in Savelletri (which is very luxy). Lecce itself is breathtaking. We paid £127 with lastminute.con for a room with "inland view". It was perfectly clean and functional but, as another reviewer said, dingy. The view was over a narrow alley with a massive wall staring back at you. The room was small, dark and dull. The "roof terrace" is basically a roof with a few chairs stuck on it, a pretty feeble effort for a 5* hotel. Puglia is full of charming, chic hotels, this feels like it might have been regarded as the height of chic about 30 years ago. Perhaps we got a bad deal, but f or the price we paid, not nearly good enough.

Room Tip: Beg for a view?

OK well it started out really well getting to Lecce was amazing place to visit ancient city indeed and so beautiful BUT a nightmare to find folks you will be amazed how difficult it was to find but when we did wow! My jaw dropped on the beauty of this place.you can drive right up to the door but then again they take your car and park it for you and have to wait a while to get the car back. We decided to have dinner at the hotel the day we arrived and that evening it very romantic and low lights the food was good but ...I give it a a 4 star rating for the food pasta with seafood is what we ordered.the wine was the best .Bread with olive oil and basamic vingerette.Very clean hotel and walking distance to all the churches art resturants and coffee shops and shopping is all convienant to everything.I had a blast there and will return back to this hotel. Be sure to have maps handy for the streets signs are insane they make no sense unless you are a native there.enjoy your stay for we sure did!!
