“Good Honest Italian Restaurant”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Visited last night on a friends recommendation. Staff were welcoming even with out reservation and with our poor Italian. Food was typical Italian fare but well cooked and served with a smile. Children enjoyed watching the chef make pizza in the front of the house. What made it special was the personal touch of the owner (?), an elderly lady who continually checked to make sure we were ok with q real sense of pride. Dont hesitate to visit.

“Ticked all the boxes!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

If you love Italian food then this is one of those places that you dream about finding but never can. We were recommended to visit this restaurant by some friends that live in Viareggio, they eat here regularly as do so many local residents so we made a reservation to be sure of a table and it's a good thing that we did because the place was buzzing.
Cantina di Bruno sits on a corner of two streets and seats maybe 150 people or more and at peak dining time may have a line of people waiting for table. Once inside you are enveloped in what can only be described as old world charm with the Nona front of house ensuring that everyone receives a warm welcome and is seated comfortably. The first thing that hits you is the wonderful aroma of freshly prepared foods, then looking around at people tucking into simple rustic Italian dishes such as Spaghetti Vongole, Faro di Pescatore (fantastic) or Seafood Risotto (Wow!).
The Veal or Beef T Bone is simply amazing but check what size beef steak you order because its served by the kilo, Oh and I forgot to mention the Fish Stew!
Breads and Olive Oil is served as appetizers but also try the Olives, Porcini and Palma Ham and most of all the warm seafood salad. This place is loud and noisy with people having fun and the food is served piping hot and comes at a leisurely pace.
A great wine list either by the bottle or glass and super coffee to end with. You can spend what you like here depending on your fancy but we went twice and ate well on both occasions for less than Euros 90 for the 4 of us.
Simply fantastic.

“Great food, great atmosphere, we went twice!”
Reviewed 28 August 2013 via mobile

By far the best food we had on our holiday. We were in Lido de Camaiore for 5 days and ate at La Cantina twice. 40% of or evening meals! It was definitely worth venturing away from the beach strip for. Luigi, the waiter, was charismatic and friendly despite not speaking much English. Both our experiences were fun and highly memorable and the food delicious.

In particular the panzerotti were beautifully cooked and devoured so fast by both adults and teens that Luigi bought extra helpings , the pizzas were flowing with ingredients and the Pasta Scoglioni voted the best of the resort.
