Turn off the Promenade onto JFK Avenue and either walk or drive 300 metres to the top of the road and just ahead of you on a roundabout you will find the Restuarante Clara.
What appears to have once been a family home has for some time now been converted into a welcoming family eating house. Enter and you greeted by the Lady of the house and politely shown to your table, ours was a delightful alcove that allowed full view of all of those that entered many of them local couple and families.
The menu is typical for the region e.g. heavy on sea food and fish but with a few carnivorous offerings as well. The table are neatly laid with quality linen and simple glassware and cutlery. The service can be a bit uneven with an array of waiters and waitresses doing their best to please, unfortunately the young lady serving us seemed to have lost the plot.
We started with a wonderful warm Salad di Pulpo (Octopus) prepared with the freshest of ingredients and a Mussel Soup which was heavenly and laden with huge meaty and flavoursome shellfish. To follow we had Grilled Steak with Rocket and Palma Cheese Salad and Mixed Grilled Fish Platter which was simple and delicious.
A Chocolate Mouse rounded things off and the meal together with a few drinks but no wine came a not astonishing Euro 170 for 4 of us.
It's a romantic place and worth a visit.
